14. When Your Friend Turns Out To Secretly Be A Goddess Who Fakes Her Death
Aeron POV
(I was trying to cut back on Aeron POVs I've already done two blame Indigo /j)
The boredom had set in like a stone in the ocean, dragging me down deeper and deeper. I've been alone with my thoughts and fuck that is not good, ehehe...
Indigo has visited me a few times, other than being really creeped out the first few days they came over, they ended up cooling off.
I asked them why they were tense before a few days ago.
"Why did you look nervous as hell the first few days?" I asked, supping the iced coffee, complimentary of the coffee addict that is me and the fact Mythland exports coffee.
"Oh!" They chuckled, setting their drink down on the small coffee table in the centre of the room. "I saw something in your core, same with Tsuki's. I thought they were the same thing, some magic that wasn't godly, but no, you're just depressed."
Damn, dude really said that to my face.
Currently, I was alone with my thoughts, blasting music from back home on the speaker Darcy had made me in return for a huge supply of his favourite cookies. The loneliness had also come knocking when the boredom came to town and now they've made a home here in the little village that is the emotions of my brain.
No, I am not sane, thank you for asking.
I couldn't get up because Skye of Undergrove, who was the only one of us who could actually patch a wound, had said no moving for a week. It had been more that a week but I cannot be bothered to move.
All I do is I eat, sleep, sit alone in agonising silence while talking to myself, slowly falling into the hands of insanity over and over again until it claims be and I become clinically insane, and repeat.
Today, I was not, however, expecting a knock on the door. "Come in!" I called, expecting a surprise drop in from one of the alliance members.
What I did not expect was to be staring up at the sorrow filled face of Atura. "I came as soon as I heard and could. I'm sorry I wasn't there to help."
Her hair was sticking to her face from the pouring storm outside, her normally twinkling eyes seemed to have lost their light.
"I lived, didn't I." I said, turning away. I had said no god was there to save the foolish mortal who dared to save people, and I was so right. "Why are you here?"
She sighed, sitting on the armchair Darcy usually occupied. You could tell because there was burn stains and ripped fabric from machined gone wrong.
"I brought tea."
"I don't drink tea." I shrugged.
"What do you drink? Would you prefer food-"
"I would prefer if you explained to me why you abandoned me!" I yelled, standing up for the first time in a week or more. My legs were wobbly, but the adrenaline pumping through my body somehow kept me staning.
Atura matched my height, still shorter.
(A/N I blinked while writing this and saw a godlike moth being with furry white clothing and a pale aah face, I barely see anything when I close my eyes because I don't think in pictured but that was clearer than Darcy and Hyperions love did I just meet god???)
"I DIDN'T MEAN TO! I CAN'T WATCH YOU 24/7!" She yelled back, eyes glinting with anger.
"I brought coffee!!" The door was pushed open by Indigo, standing there holding a pair of large coffees in travel tankards.
"Estrella-" Atura said, the fight in her voice gone as she set her eyes on Indigo. She sank back down into Darcy's armchair, staring at Indi.
"Atura." Indigo's eyes were colder than I've ever seen them, their grip tightening on the tankards. "Long time no see."
"6000 years is a bit more than a long time."
"How's life been?"
"We thought you'd died, Estrella! We all thought you'd died in the Fall of Eart-"
Indigo, or Estrella, I'm having trouble keeping up, cut Atura off. "Nono, I didn't die, Exor's sanity did. He-"
"They."
"They had some sense of sanity before the Fall, but afterwards I know it has all vanished." She glared at Atura.
"How many survived?" Atura asked, a frown on her face.
"Now, if I told you that it wouldn't be entirely honest because I don't how many survived." Estrella shrugged, sitting down in her seat.
I thought I was insane but what the hell are these two on about?!
"What the fuck are you two on about?" I asked, sitting back down myself.
Nobody commented on my epic feat of finally standing up. Offended.
"Atura and I are old work colleagues... I'm a god, basically, but don't tell anyone. Not even Peri."
I nod, looking between my friend and my patron saint.
One question came to mind.
"That means you knew Exor???"
(Ita getting hard for me to see straight so imma end it here! Night all!)
