Night Before the Fall
I let out a few small laughs as Jack led me up a hill with a blind fold. "Maybe my mom is right about you."
"What does that mean," Jack asked.
"That you only want to know what's under my dress."
Jack laughed lightly. "That's not what this is and you know it. It's way on the other side of the chart."
I raised a brow.
"If it wasn't, would I have told you to pack for a night?"
"It was exactly that that worried me."
Jack let out a small chuckle. "Well, you'll see."
"Not with this blind fold on."
"It'll come off." Jack hugged my waist from behind me. "In three." He hands were on my shoulders. "Two." My cheeks. "One." He took the blind fold off, and I gasped at the sight of a cottage in the middle of the woods.
"A cottage?" I grinned at him. "You didn't!"
"I did!" Jack laughed. "Where do you think I've been for the past week? I was here building this cottage for my sister, you, and me." He smiled, holding my hand. "It's for the three of us.
"It's perfect!" I paused.
"I'm glad you think so. Come on!"
Jack and I ran to the cottage, bursting through the door. A fire was already going, and I placed my bag on one of the beds. I quickly hid my scarf at the bottom of my bag. I looked around the small building. "So I'm guessing this is our room, and that's the bathroom, and that room over there is your sister's."
Jack smirked as he started settling in. "You know, this place will be our temporary home as I continue building our actual home."
I paused. "Jack, please. Let me help you build it, or at least ask for help. You've worked hard enough."
Jack let out a small laugh as he sat in front of the small fire in the center of the room. "You can say that once we're married."
I blushed and smiled to myself. "This spring."
He nodded. "This spring. Let's eat before it gets too dark and we have to sleep."
I laughed. "Sleep? While I'm with you?"
"Impossible, right?"
~~~~~~~
I poked Jack's nose as I lied next to him. He nipped my nose, and we went back and forth with the poking and nipping.
"The fire's dying down."
Jack laughed. "Well, we have the moon."
I looked out the window. "But the window's creepy. After a while of staring at it, I feel like something is going to pop out into my view."
"Like what?"
"...you."
We laughed. Jack nipped my nose again. "Don't worry, Molly. I'm here. Nothing will hurt you while I'm here."
"I know, Jack."
He gently kissed my forehead. "This place is for the three of us to get away from anything and anyone that can hurt us."
I kissed his cheek. "Thank you, Jack."
Jack closed his eyes and smiled. "No need to thank me." I snuggled closer to him, and he wrapped an arm around me. "We'll be married in the spring, and you'll be my wife."
I closed my eyes as I laughed lightly. "What will we tell the kids?"
He yawned. "That... Cupid found her way to me."
I opened my eyes with furrowed brows. "But Jack... My name won't be Molly Q. Pidd anymore."
Jack looked at me. "What?"
"When we have kids, my name will be Molly Quinn Frost."
Jack looked away and grinned. "Oh... Well, you were still Molly Quinn Pidd when you found me."
I looked out the window. "That's true."
"Do you know how many years you and Alex had me believe that your name was Molly Cupid instead of Molly Pidd?"
I laughed. "Three years."
"Three whole years." He kissed my forehead as he stroked my hair. "And I don't regret them."
"Neither do I."
"Good night, Molly."
