"nick, would you shut the fuck up?" lilith cuddles closers to chris while whining. chris wraps his arms tighter around her, taking a deep breath before settling back into his sleep.

"someone's comfortable." matt taunts, pulling the covers off of them. chris grabs the cover, pulling it back over lilith and himself. matt continues to pull it away from them.

"matt, would you fucking stop?!" chris yells at him, making matt back away in defense. lilith visibly jumps next to chris after he yells, but just tries to fall back asleep.

"guys, we have to go back home." nick talks in a mom voice, gently shaking lilith's arm.

"fuck. off. nicolas." lilith deadpans, not even bothering to look at him.

"it's literally 9 in the morning. we're supposed to be out of here by 10." matthew explains, packing his small bag back up.

"then let us sleep till 9:30. jesus fucking christ." chris replies, feeling as lilith starts brushing her fingers through his hair. he quickly begins falling back asleep.

"just fucking get up so we can get breakfast. you can sleep in the goddamn car." matt snaps, making lilith furrow her eyebrows at his sudden hostility.

"oh my fucking god." lilith groans, burying her neck into chris' neck before turning over to look at her phone. she feels a coldness that wasn't there before.

chris whines, scooting closer to lilith and wrapping his arms around her waist. lili is internally grateful because now she isn't shivering anymore.

chris groans loudly when lilith leaves the bed. she goes into the bathroom.

matt climbs onto the bed and starts jumping. nick joins him, laughing loudly. chris yells at both of them and all laughing ceases. they slowly get off the bed and continue to pack up their things. when lilith walks back into the hotel room, chris is out of the bed and standing by the bathroom door. he doesn't even acknowledge her before walking in the bathroom.

"damn. you guys really like to piss him off." lilith walks around the bed and grabs her stuff off the bedside table, putting it in the small bag she brought with her. then, she grabs her change of clothes and stands by the bathroom door again, waiting for chris to get finished.

when he walks out, lili stops him. she looks over her shoulder before pushing him back in the bathroom, closing the door quietly behind her.

"what are you doing?" chris runs a hand through his hair. lilith ignores his question and asks a different one.

"are you okay? like i understand they pissed you off, but you're never like this." lili studies his face, looking from eye to eye.

"yeah. i'm just tired." chris replies dryly, trying to move past her.

she puts a hand on his chest, their bodies dangerously close.

"please don't lie to me." they are so close that chris can feel lilith's breath hit his face.

his heart rate speeds up, causing his hands to become clammy. chris' eyes flash down to lilith's lips quickly, before he picks them back up.

the tension in the room is thick enough to suffocate them. lilith watches chris' eyes look down at her lips. she finds herself watching as he runs his tongue along his bottom lip.

"i'm fine." chris hesitantly turns his face away from hers and leaves the bathroom. lilith just shakes her head before locking the door and changing for the ride home.

"hurry the fuck up! you guys wanted to leave early so let's go!" lilith yells at nick and matt who are still getting their stuff together.

"let's go wait in the car." chris suggests, opening the hotel room door. "we'll be in the car!"

lilith opens a few snapchats as they walk down the hallway in silence. they take the opportunity to take the elevator since matthew isn't with them.

chris clicks the ground floor button and the elevator doors close. he looks over at lilith who just turned her phone off and put it in her back pocket.

once the elevator dings, lilith and chris both re-adjust their grip on their bags and walk into the parking garage.

"you should sing something in here. it's all echoey." chris suggests, looking over at her.

"what?" she looks at him with a confused look. "what would i even sing?"

"sing a billie eilish song!" nick yells from behind the duo, causing them to turn around quickly. chris and lili stop walking so matt and nick can catch up.

"which one?"

"ocean eyes." nick answers quickly and lilith smiles, dropping her stuff by the car and then sitting on the hood. chris sits beside her, but matt and nick stay standing up, pulling out their phones.

"i've been watching you for some time" lilith begins singing and her voice echoes throughout the entirety of the garage. "can't stop staring at those ocean eyes"

chris listens while keeping his eyes on her. he watches the way she hits a higher note and squeezes her eyes together, but when she eases up, her eyes stay closed.

"burning cities and napalm skies" lilith continues, opening her eyes to see the triplets staring at her. "fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes" she looks into chris' eyes. "your ocean eyes"

chills get sent down his body when lilith sings the lyrics that seem like they were meant for him. lilith smiles into the next words as she looks away from him, closing her eyes back.

"no fair" her high voice carries through the boys' ears, making them all crack a smile. "you really know how to make me cry when you give me those ocean eyes" lilith takes a deep breath. "i'm scared. i've never fallen from quite this high" she looks at chris. "fallin' into your ocean eyes. those ocean eyes."

as she stops singing, the boys clap and cheer loudly for her, stopping the recordings. chris pulls her to him, hugging her tightly.

"you actually need to go on american idol or some shit." nick says, laying his hands on her legs.

"i swear! you're actually so talented, lili." matthew adds, pushing her shoulder slightly into chris.

"thanks, guys." she looks at matt and nick specifically. "did you guys get good videos?"

"uh, yeah. i've already posted mine on tiktok." nicolas answers with a smug smile. "go watch it."

lilith opens tiktok and finds nick's profile. she clicks on the newest one and turns her phone's volume up. her voice sounds lovely on the video, but she can't help but notice how chris watches her the entire time.

she blushes at the admiration she can see he has for her.

"you're literally going to go viral." nick says and points at the phone. "look, i tagged you in it, too."

when lilith turns her phone off, she leans her head on chris' shoulder.

"so what's for breakfast?" nick asks, moving his things so everyone can get in the car.

the group decided to try a new food place called 'first watch'. after eating, they got back in the car and began the drive home. chris and lilith sat in the backseat again, but both are in a window seat.

chris unbuckles his seatbelt and lays down on lilith's lap. she moves her phone and starts brushing through his long hair. christopher opens his phone and starts to text her.

chris puts his phone down and falls asleep on lilith's legs. he dreams about them getting married and having kids, growing old together and ultimately drinking coffee on their back porch before the dream ends.

"chris." lilith rubs her hand through his hair to wake him up. "christopher, i have to pee."

"sounds like a personal problem." chris replies in a groggy tone. lilith's heart skips a beat at how hot his voice sounds right now.

"you're laying on me, so i can't get up." lilith complains, continuing to run through his hair.

"oh, right." chris sits up slowly, stretches, and then follows lilith out of the car. they both walk into the gas station together, but part ways when lilith goes towards the bathrooms and chris goes to the snack section.

when lili finishes washing her hands, she exits the restroom and walks over to where she sees chris. she sneaks up behind him and kicks the back of his knee, making him fold backwards. she laughs loudly and starts walking quickly out of the aisle. he follows after her, picking her up over his shoulder and tickling her.

"chris-" she attempts to say through loud laughs. he sets her down and throws an arm over her shoulder, pulling her closer to him. they both pick out some snacks to share and a drink each.

after they check out, chris puts his arm back over her shoulder and hugs her tightly, them both laughing together at how awkward the cashier was.

chris opens the door for lilith and then runs around to get in on the other side. lilith opens her laptop and the two both put an airpod in, planning to rewatch the entirety of outer banks.
