The others caught up to Lucy and looked at the circle of barren waste land. In the center where Zeref once stood, was a platinum key. "What happened here?" Venus asked. "He must have left before we got here." Lucy lied. Mercury picked up the key and looked it over. "I can tell you right now that I do not want to be around when you use this key. Mars is a total asshole." He said throwing the key at Lucy.

"Says the tiny pervert." Venus answered. Lucy didn't listen to their bickering. She was thinking of the book that Zeref had given her. "Are you going to summon him?" Happy asked, breaking through her thoughts. "Um.. Okay. Open! Gate of Ares, Mars!" She said. A middle aged man appeared. He wore leather armor and had an intricately designed tattoo of a sword on his right arm. And he had a sword of the same design strapped onto his back. He had a large scar that ran down the length of his face.

His black hair swept over one of his dark brown eyes. He looked at his surroundings and sighed. "It's been almost four hundred years since I last visited Earthland and the first thing I see is a blackened forest." Mars sighed again. "Nice to see you again, Mars." Venus answered. "Yes I suppose." Mars sighed deeply. He turned to Lucy and hugged her, earning a soft growl from Natsu. "You must be Lucy! You are much more beautiful than your mother has described you." Mars bowed.

"You know my mother?" Lucy asked. "Yes. I haven't been summoned for over four hundred years, but your mother has in fact come to my world. She actually lives there now." He said.
