He beams at the giant spotlight above. "Dad, that looks like - "
"A Christmas light, I know." I resist an eye roll. Barely.
"Pfft, Christmas lights aren't that big," Jay laughs. "It looks like the sun! And if you look into it for long enough, Papa Elf says your eyes will burn out. Papa Elf is my other dad. He's the best! You two should really meet sometime! And then he could show you all my cute baby - "
"Listen, Jay, here's my phone." I hand over the device. Why don't you play around on it until I'm out of my meeting, okay?"
"Oh, I love videogames!" Jay exclaims. "Let's see if we can change this thing to a Christmas ringtone..."
"You do that." I walk away right as my phone rings.
And I know exactly what's coming.
Jay gasps, holding the device to his hear to answer. "Jay the Junkyard Boy, what's your favorite color?"
