Ungrounded

A/N: this won't be as fluffy as the first chapter, because I couldn't really think of a way to continue that... So this showed up instead.

"But, Kanan...!" The teen whined as he followed his master through the ship.

"No. It hasn't even been a week yet, Ezra. How can I expect you to learn your lesson if I let you off so easily?" Kanan said for the tenth time.

"I have learned my lesson though, really! Please, Kanan, I'm going crazy here!"

It was at that moment Hera walked in. "What? Are you saying you don't like spending time on the Ghost with me?" Her arms were crossed and her eyebrow raised. Not a good sign for Ezra.

"N-No!" Ezra waved his hands in front of his face. "I love the Ghost! But I haven't been on a mission in so long...!"

"And whose fault is that, kid?" Zeb asked with a smirk as he came down to the bay. Ezra groaned and left to his room, muttering about stupid ideas.

Hera looked at Zeb, "Go easy on him, Zeb. He's just a kid, it'll happen."

"Just havin' a bit o' fun with 'im."

Kanan chuckled at his friends. "Alright, Zeb, Sabine, let's go."

---three hours later---

"Something's up, it doesn't take this long to pick up supplies, something went wrong..." Hera said, pacing the cockpit.

Ezra wouldn't say it aloud, but he was just as worried as Hera. It was supposed to be a routine op, one they have done tons of times, so what could be taking so long...?

"Spector Two...! Come in!" The com link crackled. "Spector Two, come in, this is Spector One!"

Hera jumped to the com. "Spector One, where are you? What's happening?"

"...set up... Chased through... Pick us... Now!"

"Spector One, you're breaking up. What's your position?"

Only static came through the line at first, but it clear just long enough for the two Spectors on the Ghost to hear the blaster fire.

Hera and Ezra shared a look before jumping into action.

Hera was able to find the Spectors' position by tracing the comlink, while Ezra tried to get his master back on.

When the Ghost arrived to the position, there was blaster marks everywhere.

"This isn't right..." Hera said, "this was supposed to be a routine op, what went wrong?"

Ezra wandered the area a bit, trying to find clues to answer Hera's question. One set of blaster marks next to him were different than all the others, and Ezra passed it at first. That is, until he got to he end of the street and saw the same mark on the wall of an ally. That's when Ezra remembered the rumors he had read on his datapad one night.

"There's this new gang in Lothol..."

"I heard they help the Empire and are really ruthless with their captives."

"They're also very territorial. Best to stay away from anyplace that has the red blaster mark."

The red blaster mark... Ezra turned around and looked at the mark he passed before. It was that new gang... The Imperial Supporters had Kanan, Zeb, and Sabine!

"Hera! I know what happened to them!" Ezra called out. "I'm going get them, make sure you're ready when I call you, I sense we'll need a quick getaway!" With that, the boy turned and ran, leaving Hera to stare worriedly after his retreating form.

Finding the gang was easy enough; they were new and proud, so there were gang marks all over and leading to one specific place. Getting inside was another thing though... There were windows all over and he could see his team tied up on the floor, but there were just so many bad guys. The whole street was covered with them; it was a wonder how Ezra had made it to a vent without being seen.

"Karabast." Ezra silently cursed. He had to make them leave their posts somehow... It was then that he saw one of the guys inside on a datapad. "Perfect." Ezra smirked before climbing away.

-20 Minutes Later-
Kanan p.o.v.

"What?!" The leader of the gang yelled, jumping up and ran around yelling things in his native language. I glanced at Sabine, her eyes were wide.

"What's wrong?" I whispered to her.

"The imperials turned on them and are attacking some of their men in town. The boss is calling more than half his guys to battle against them." She replied.

"Great... Now we're stuck in the middle of a war. Again." Zeb grumbled.

One guy was left inside, and I have no idea how many were outside. We may be able to escape...

There was a loud crashing from outside suddenly, causing the man to jump and run outside.

"What's going- ugh!" As soon as the door was opened all the way, the man was hit by something and fell backwards.

"Man, do you have any idea how much Hera's worrying about you guys right now?" A teasing voice said.

"Kid! What're you doin' here?!" Zeb asked, moving his head around to see Ezra.

"Saving you. Come on, we don't have much time until they find out there's no army attacking them." Ezra ran to us and undid the knotted ropes around us.

"Wait..." Sabine said after he untied her. "You mean there isn't an army of bucket heads on their way?"

"Nope! All thanks to my amazing datapad skills-"

"Yeah yeah, save it for someone who cares." Zeb interrupted as he broke his ropes.

Ezra finished untying me and we ran outside, where five men were on the ground, unconscious.

"Kid, did you do all this...?" Sabine asked in awe. I had to admit, I was in awe myself. I knew Ezra was good, but not this good.

Ezra blushed slightly and rubbed the back of his head. "Kinda, yeah..."

"It doesn't look like yer normal slingshot hits, or yer saber... What did ya use?" Zeb asked, poking one guy with his foot.

"The Force..."

I put my hands on my hips, eyebrow raised. "Care to explain further to us?"

"Well... I was in the vent and I used the Force to mess with their minds... And I kinda... found a way to... physically mess with them and hit their pressure points..." He wouldn't look at us as he said all this. I didn't let on that this worried me; it was how the Dark Lord killed people.

"Impressive..." Sabin said, her arms crossed as she took in what the kid said.

"Thanks...!" Ezra smiled brightly.

"Hey... How'd you know where their hideout was, kid?" Zeb asked, giving Ezra a look. That bright smile turned smug.

"Remember when I was staying up late? I read about these guys then, and since they're fairly new I figured they'd have a lot of signs to where they were. Honestly, guys like this are so easy to read and humiliate."

"Yeah," I said, "but they do have numbers against us, so I think it would be best if we left now." They all agreed and we left quickly.

We were able to get to the ship unnoticed, so there wasn't any reason to call Hera for a pick up. As soon as Hera saw us, she let her mother hen side out and made sure to check us all for any injuries. Once she was sure that we were all alright, she had us explain everything.

"It started out as the normal pick up, but then those guys showed up out of no where." Sabine explained, "we held them off for a while, but there were a lot of them and they just kept coming. Even my bombs didn't help much. After about twenty minutes, they finally closed in on us."

I shook my head. "They're very strong for such a new gang."

"Kid pulled some weight today too. Finally." Zeb laughed.

"Hey! What do you mean 'finally'?! If it wasn't for me, you never would have found out where the Wookies were sent when we first met, had it way harder to get the info from agent Kallus about the cyber crystal when I went undercover, or gotten Kanan back hen the Inquisitor took him!" Ezra yelled, his arms crossed and glaring at Zeb. The Lasat had to stop and think for a second, realizing that everything the boy said was true. I smiled at them and ruffled Ezra's hair.

"Yeah, Ezra, we know. Zeb was just being Zeb." He looked up at me, still pouting. "Thank you for all of that, by the way. You've been a big help."

"I was pretty awesome, wasn't I?" The old Ezra was back, smiling that Ezra-grin he was known for.
