Chapter 17
Ranboo's face hurt. It did that a lot, now. He wasn't sure why.
Tubbo wouldn't look at him either, and that was more worrying than the face thing. Had he done something? Had he hurt Tubbo? What had he forgotten?
It was pretty boring in that obsidian room. Ranboo couldn't do much other than sit in silence, waiting for his impending doom. He really wished Tubbo would talk to him.
The door opened, the screech of the hinges making Ranboo jump out of his skin. Dream was back. (Wait, had he come in the room before?)
Tubbo had shrunk back into the corner, his hair hiding his face. "What do you want?" Ranboo heard him mumble.
Dream chuckled, a low, sadistic sound. "You know what I want." Dream glanced at Ranboo. "You waited too long." He said flatly.
Tubbo whimpered, meekly replying, "I did what you said."
Ranboo's eyes flicked between the two of them. What were they talking about?
Dream sighed. "Get up."
Ranboo stood, too afraid to do otherwise, but Tubbo stayed curled up.
"Do you want me to do it again?" Dream asked.
Tubbo stood.
"You will stay standing until I tell you otherwise." Dream stated simply. "If you sit, you will be punished."
"How?" Ranboo asked before he could stop himself.
Dream looked at him, the blank dots on his mask boring into Ranboo's soul. "You don't remember, do you?"
Ranboo's eyes widened. He'd forgotten something, hadn't he?
Before he could ask, Dream interrupted him. "How is Tommy alive?"
Tubbo stayed silent, but Ranboo spoke. "We don't know for sure, but there were a few reports I stumbled across that stated that bedrock, when struck by lightning, could momentarily turn into a portal leading to another dimension. When you," He cleared his throat. "killed Tommy, those were the exact conditions he fell into. We don't know if the portal actually formed, and even if it did, he might not have survived, but there is a slight chance he could still be alive. The book I found it in didn't state anything other than the theories, and I couldn't find anything about it anywhere else. Still, we may be able to recreate the circumstances using a trident during a storm. We would have to find the exact spot where he fell, though, or we may accidentally go to the wrong place, and that wouldn't be good. Also, even if we somehow get Tommy back (if he's even alive), I don't know how we would get back to our own dimension.
Tubbo coughed. "You really didn't hold anything back, did you."
Ranboo gave a nervous laugh. "Didn't want to die."
Tubbo swivelled towards him, locking eyes. Ranboo glanced away, uncomfortable. "You know that even if Tommy is alive, you basically just killed him again? You basically just gave Dream a direct path to get to my best friend, and you laugh about it? And all because you didn't want to die?" Tubbo shook his head. "Selfish traitor. I should have known."
Ranboo flinched. "I'm not good under pressure, you know tha-"
"YOU JUST DESTROYED MY ONE CHANCE OF SEEING TOMMY ALIVE AGAIN!" Tubbo screamed.
Suddenly Dream had him up against the wall, his axe at the brunette's throat.
"Do you want me to hurt him again?" The man whispered dangerously.
Tubbo swallowed under the blade, his eyes hardening. "See if I care."
