TYPES OF PEOPLE I KNOW ON WATTPAD

(ps. this is not the usual you see in other rant books. you might've observed some of em irl)

A) THE "I've heard stuff about you from someone or people so I'm gonna judge you straight away!" people

Now these people, HA!

These people literally listen to ANYTHING from others, and automatically form their opinions on you.

They listen to the words of people who THINK they know you, and if these people who THINK they know you do not LIKE you, best believe their whole crew is gonna hop on that ship.

Ever heard of, "You never know someone until you get to KNOW them?"

Any story you might have heard, keep in mind that it's only being told in one perspective. A biased one, at that. There's always two sides to a story.

but one TRUTH.

Also, if you're gonna hate on someone who probably doesn't know you exist lmao, sis/bro do you know that you're screwing your own self? here's a thought...

move on?

because it doesn't even concern you?

B) THE "you made one mistake, therefore you're condemned for life" people.

Oh, I know these people alright. You do several good, it goes unnoticed. they don't care. it's irrelevant.

Make one mistake and your picture's hanging on their wall of WORLD'S MOST TERRIBLE PEOPLE with you at the number one spot, Hitler coming in second.

These are the people I don't get. It's as if they've patiently been waiting for ANY reason to hate you. ANY. Because the rate at which they jump on the "YOU'RE EVIL" train after you didn't help the old lady to cross the road to the other side, gets confusing.

The old lady didn't even need my help, she was Mrs. Doubtfire.

What I want to say to these people (most I don't even know personally) have YOU never made mistakes? Done things you regretted later? Taken measures to make things better?

Have you never?

Because sorry to burst your bubble you naive child but no one's a Saint. Your mummy isn't. Your daddy isn't. Your big sister's lying to you that she's still a virgin.

People make mistakes, people realize their mistakes, people make changes in effect, and people come out of it. Don't be the reason THEY will eternally condemn themselves for ONE thing they did. Don't be.

You wouldn't like it if it happened to you.

C) THE "I want to read this person's book but she/ he's friends with this other person so i can't" PEOPLE

I fall in this category tbh. Sometimes I see this book and I want to read it badly, but it turns out the author is like best friends with this other person who has probably already painted an image of you to them.

And I'm not talking Pablo Picasso or Bob Ross typa painting, no no.

I'm talking THIS typa painting.

the minute you say "hi" on their author's note, the other person is gonna be like, "YO SO THE SNAKE IS ON YOUR BOOK?"

correct me if I'm wrong but, snakes cannot read?

but hey, i think if you wanna read a book, if you GENUINELY wanna read a book, go for it bich. It's about the book, nothing else. No one else.

Read it and be happy. Don't care about anything else.

And if the author of that book is gonna be moody or refuse to reply to your lovely comments because of what they heard about you or who you're friends with, hey, screw em, k? it's about the book not them. be the better person, don't be petty.

D) THE "this person did this to me in the past so I'm like, expecting you not to be friends with them or just know them for who they are" PEOPLE

Now there's SO many things wrong with this.

First off, I choose my friends- you don't, thank you very much.

Secondly, what someone did to you, that's between you and the person. That has nothing to do with me.

(Unless there's a crime involved. Or serious inflictions, not petty arguments and stuff)

Thirdly, you claim it happened in the past. You do know that judging people based on their PAST is wrong, right?

You do know what PAST means, right?

The past is so different from the present in the sense that, people grow, people mature, people wisen up, and people change if they need to.

I won't deny that some people do get worse as they grow, but leave it to me to have my experiences with these people.

If I get to know them, and I like what I see and encounter, I'm not going to let your past with them be the reason they won't have a future with me. Period.

E) THE "you don't read my book updates anymore so it's time to cut you off" PEOPLE

There are so many different types of peeps under this category.

Some, I don't blame for this notion.

But the ones I wanna highlight on are those who fail to differentiate between, "they aren't reading anymore cuz *insert whatever absurd reason*" and "they aren't reading because they have REAL LIFE PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH ATM."

Some people judge others too quickly.

SIS, ASK.

This person might be going through some real life crisis but because yous a bich who don't know where to find the question mark on your keypad, you GO OFF.

And you don't go off to these people, no, it's not possible. You go off on em to your FRIENDS about how fake they are and etc.

SIS, ASK.

Maybe a relative died. Maybe a friend. Maybe they were abused. Maybe just maybe they aren't having the life they wished for.

This is to everyone. Please learn to ask. A S K. It works wonders, you know?

And check up on your friends or readers once in a while. Your simple gesture might end up being their saving moment in a way you never thought possible.

F) THE STALKERS

These people don't follow you but DAMN do they know what you had for breakfast this morning?

These people make it a daily necessity to check you out. WHY NOT FOLLOW THEN?

They know who you make friends with, they know what you last commented in your book.

Heck, they prolly in here rn.

G) THE "I'm responsible for this person's reads" PEOPLE

If you ever hear someone say this to you, do me a favour and smack them on their virtual head, por favor?

NO ONE IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE READS SOMEONE GETS.

there are so many factors, let's break it down by the arguments pulled up.

Person: When I added your book to my reading list, your reads multiplied.

Me: That doesn't make you responsible for the reads and let me tell you why.

1) I don't think you added this book when it had ZERO reads. Knowing the people who would say this, The reads would have to be well above the K's.

Which means, they already had loyal customers before you. (ha customers). They had readers before you. You didn't give them readers.

2) EVERYONE ON THIS APP (most people) began with read for reads, book awards, posting on boards, private messaging. Even YOU.

Person: When i followed you, my followers hopped on your book.

My followers hopped on yours too but i ain't complaining?

And if the content wasn't good, you really think people woulda stuck around?

SO CONTENT TAKES UP LIKE 85%.

And this is not me saying that books with lesser reads have bad content because BOIIIIIIIII have i read books with a few hundred or K reads that I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH OF!!

Whereas a couple of books rolling in the millions are----*cough cough* (that's a discussion for another day)

And that's also not me saying million read books are shite because BOOIIIIII have i read books with a million reads that I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH OF.

All I'm trying to say is, it's a cycle. You add books, People add yours, Those people have theirs added by others, and so on.

Why do you think some books in your reading lists vary according to reads? It's because(not solely tho) there are some that your "followers" wouldn't be interested in reading. And there are some that they would be.

They have their reasons, their agenda, their preferences. So in actual senses, it all boils down to the BOOK, once it has been come across.

(And peoples preferences ig)

There are also some people who say when they stopped reading your book, your reads count froze.

Let me use myself for example.

I went on a hiatus for six months in total(half cuh of drama on this app, half cuh of real life situations). I went off right when Wattpad had changed the tagging system. So basically ranking in the top 4 in general fiction turned to ranking different numbers in different TAGS.

When you move to a new town, you gotta adjust to their system.

Because I was off for six months might I remind, I hadn't been around to adjust to this new system. So defo my ranking is gonna drop, active books are gonna take over, I'm gonna lose tons of readers for not updating in forever, I'm gonna lose followers, my updates will be slow, but guess what?

We don't give up or cry in the club in this household.

We keep moving, even when only a handful of people show up for your updates.

We Keep pushing, start over if you have to, but never give up.

It'll be slow now, but when you give up, it'll be zero, so push.
