Ch. 9: The Rising Rebel

For the next couple weeks, Amity was very upset that Luz wouldn't say anything, she wishes she could figure out why. She couldn't sleep, she just kept thinking... when a voice spoke to her.

'Hey, kid. Wake up.' A voice said to her.

Amity's eyes shot open.

"Who said that?!" She said, sitting up in bed and looking around.

Moving a bit, Willow grumbled in her sleep before turning over.

'Seems like it needs to be quiet in that room, come find me.' The voice said.

Amity looked around for the source, finding herself afraid and confused.

'W-Who are you?' Amity thought, slowly getting out of her bed.

'Someone that can help.' The voice said.

'Help me?' Amity thought.

'Help you with your girlfriend.' The voice said.

Amity knew better that to go after the voice... but she needed to know.

She walked out the front door and to the street, looking around.

'The manhole, open it and go down.' The voice said as Amity saw a manhole right in front of the Noceda house.

Amity, begrudgingly, did so.

'I can't believe I'm doing this.' Amity thought, using abomination magic to pull the manhole open and began descending down the ladder.

Hitting her nose, the smell Amity nearly made vomited Amity. Her brother, Edric's, laundry smelled better than this.

"Ugh! What do humans eat to make a smell this bad?!" Amity asked as she plug her nose with abomination goo.

'It will get better, don't worry. Just keep following my voice.' The voice said to her.

Amity made abomination shoes so she didn't touch the sewer floors, following the strange voice as she made a magenta fireball to light her way.

It was a good thing magic fire doesn't react to normal gas or else the entire tunnel would've exploded from the methane in the air.

And that would've been a big problem.

For the last 10 minutes, Amity walked down the sewer tunnel before seeing a strange light at the end.

'What... is that?' Amity thought.

'That is what you need to protect your friends and protect your girlfriend. Claim it.' The voice said.

Amity walked through the light and saw a large sword.

A massive longsword with a heavy double-edged blade, notched on both sides near the tip. The pommel her three spikes at the end. The guard is skeletal with a skull-design on each side leading to the rib cage from which the blade emerges; on one side of the blade, the skull is that of a human, while the other uses a horned demon skull.

"What kind of sword is this and what's it doing down here?" Amity asked, approaching it.

'Waiting for you.' The voice said.

"For me?" Amity asked, unknowingly moving closer to the sword. "But why would a sword in the human realm be waiting for me?"

'Grasp the handle and find out.' The voice said as the skulls on the sword glow.

She did so, and saw fighting, from two people atop of a tower, in blue and red.

The man in blue wielded a long katana, attacking with speed and precision, while the man in red wielded the same longsword Amity grabbed, attacking with strength and style.

Around them, the rain seemed to stop moving, a dome formed from their swords, preventing the rain hitting the ground until the swords hit, dropping the water.

"Whoa....." Amity said in awe, entranced by the sword fight.

'Yep, that's what I like to call a "heart warming family reunion."' The voice said.

"Family? You mean these two are brothers?!" Amity asked in shock.

'Yes. Brothers born from the union of a powerful demon and a loving human.' The voice said. 'The one in red, is Dante, the one in blue was is older twin brother, Vergil.'

"Dante and Vergil. Why are they fighting?" Amity asked.

'Conflicting view points and of their demonic heritage.' The voice said.

"And what does that have to do with me?" Amity asked.

'... Someone found the Yamato, which means a piece of Vergil's soul is taking over someone's body.' The voice said.

"What? But how?!" Amity asked, shocked.

'Before Vergil succumbed to death, he used a spell to copy his soul and seal it into his katana, the Yamato. And fearing what his brother was planning, Dante did the same with his sword. The Rebellion.' The voice explained. 'If left unchecked, Vergil will be able to take control of his new wielder and return to this world.'

"And, what would happen if he DID return?" Amity asked, gulping in worry.

The voice sighed before Amity felt something tap her forehead.

'THIS is what happened the last time Vergil lusted for power and what happened to the world.' The voice said.

Suddenly, a flash of memories came into Amity's mind of events relating to something called "The Qliphoth."

An entire town destroyed.

Millions dead.

Demons that Amity could only see in her worst nightmares running rampant around the world!

All because of one man's lust for power!

"That's... that's horrible!" Amity said, feeling sick and somewhat reminded of her mother.

''Yes, it is. That's why someone needs to be around to stop him. Someone that can wield that Rebellion against the Yamato.' The voice said as the Rebellion appeared in front of Amity, its skull eyes glowing. 'Will you accept that responsibility?'

"M-m-me?" Amity stuttered.

'Yes, you Amity Blight.' The voice said.

Amity thought about it before grabbing the handle.

The skull's eye sockets flashed brightly, consuming Amity in a bright red light as a new power rushed into her body.

The power of Sparda.

When it was done, Amity lifted the sword from the place it was lodged. With expert skill, she spun the sword around and above her before throwing it in the air. A few seconds later, it landed back on her hand before she placed it on her shoulder.

"Jackpot." Amity said with a confident grin, turning to leave.

'Why did I say that?' Amity thought but it just felt right.

Exiting the sewer, Amity headed back to the Noceda house.

'Your training will begin tomorrow, so remember where this place is.' Rebellion said to Amity, surprising her but she didn't show it.

She also gained a poker face along with the sparda power.

"Talking sword, cool." Amity said.

'It just occurred to me but how am I going to hide you?' Amity thought.

'Allow me.' Rebellion said before it glows, shrinking in size and changing shape until it was a bracelet with a metal skull on it.

'That works... I guess.' She thought.

Amity out in her new accessory before slipping back into the house, heading back up to Luz's room.
