Liam
It was Liam dancing with some dude. My eyesight isn't that perfect, and amidst the chaos of the club, the only thing I could see about that dude was his long blond hair.
Instantly, I felt the urge to leave the club.
Liam, was the owner of this club as well? A billionaire and I never knew that? He was married with a kid, and I never knew that?
Who is Liam, really?
My mind kept puzzling.
Elijah noticed my unease and asked if I was okay.
"Yes," I said.
"Don't lie to me," he replied, narrowing his eyes as if I were far away, and he wanted to watch my facial expressions change.
"Okay, yeah. To be honest, I don't really like this place," I admitted.
"Let's leave then," he suggested.
"Okay," I agreed and stood up from my seat.
"I thought you loved clubs," he said as we walked towards his Lamborghini.
"I do like clubs, but for some reason, I didn't enjoy that one in particular," I explained.
"Was it the drinks?" he asked.
"No, it's just that the vibe was kinda off. I'm sorry if I ruined the vibe," I replied.
"No worries," he reassured me.
"Wanna take a long night ride along the beach?" he offered, his sweet smile putting me at ease.
"Yes, let's do that," I said, sitting beside him in his Lamborghini.
I rolled down my window to the max. Thankfully, Elijah was a fast driver, and the rushing air hit my head, clearing my thoughts and emotions along the way.
"I've shared so much about my life, but you haven't told me anything. That's not fair," Elijah said, smiling.
"What do you want to know?" I asked.
"Just anything, like where you work, what you like, or what your past was like. Anything," he said, still smiling.
"Well, my name is Alex, and I'll be 25 soon. I dropped out of med school last year to focus on work, but now I don't work anymore, so it doesn't really matter. To be honest, I don't know what to tell you about myself," I said, tears welling up.
"I think my identity is a mix of other people's opinions about me, but it's not really me," I confessed, then fell silent.
"Got it," said Elijah. "If you want, we can enjoy the ride in silence. I won't ask you any questions," he offered.
"Thank you, Elijah," I said.
Eventually, the ride became a bit boring, and Elijah drove us back to the hotel.
"Goodnight, Alex," he said as we reached our destination.
"Goodnight, Elijah," I replied, feeling a bit confused since I thought he might invite me into his room for the night.
"Want to go to the market tomorrow and buy some souvenirs with me?" Elijah asked before closing the door to his room.
"Sure," I quickly answered, not wanting to be alone in this new place without him.
He sweetly smiled, winked at me, and closed the door.
I stood outside his room, puzzled by what just happened, then went to my own room.
As I entered, I noticed Lila's absence and found a message left on my bed.
"Please don't let my absence ruin your time there. I love you, Alex, and want you to have a great time. - Lila" the note said.
Feeling like a hopeless idiot, I fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, I woke up due to the same recurring nightmare—Liam died in the end.
I cried because I was afraid.
Then, I fell asleep again.
In the morning, I woke up to a call from Ben, my sister's husband.
Why is this loser calling me so early? It's 6 am!
Maybe it's something important about my sister.
I picked up the phone and said, "Hello?"
Ben's voice on the other side delivered shocking news, "Liam is dead."
