Chapter 1: Independence Day

Six months later

"Come on! We're gonna be late!" I shouted backwards to Hal, as he flew extremely slowly. "Today's the day!"

"Okay, okay Alya; I'm coming." Hal chuckled. Me and Hal has gotten a lot closer over the past year. I had completed my training and was now sector 2814's very own Blue Lantern.

"Batman, Flash, Aquaman, and Green Arrow all got caught up with he Icicle crew. They are all gonna be late too." He reasoned with me.

"I know, but we just left the house, and it's such a long flight to the Hall Of Justice!" I complained.

Hal adopted me not long after I became Blue Lantern. My mother didn't even put up a fight. Said she didn't want me. It hurt, but I've been happier with Hal than I had ever been with my mother.

As we flew, I babbled on about anything that came to my mind, while Hal just chuckled at me, mumbling about 'hyperactive fifteen year olds.'

When we arrived at the entrance, everybody but the Flashes had showed up.

I walked right up to the other three sidekicks, who were all talking in a little circle, and introduced myself.

"Hi, I'm Blue Lantern!" I said, practically bouncing with anticipation.

"Hey,I'm Robin," said the boy in the black, blue and yellow outfit.

"I am Aqualad," said the tall boy with what looked like a water jet pack on his back.

"Speedy." The one in yellow huffed. I immediately knew I wasn't going to get along with this guy. He seemed like a jerk.

Hal came over and put his hands on my shoulders. "Welcome to the Hall Of Justice, kiddo," he said, seeming proud.

Suddenly, two blurs, one red and one yellow, zoomed up next to us.

"Man, I knew we would be the last ones here!" The  boy in yellow, with flaming red hair, complained.

I snorted. Funny how the fastest people in the world were late.

He turned to me, smirking." Hey beautiful, what's your name?"

I smiled at him. "Hi, I'm not interested, but you can call me Blue Lantern." I said, proud of my status.

Robin burst into laughter. I smiled deviously at Kid Flash.

Fans all around us were screaming at us, well, mostly the justice league. They were trying to find out who we were.

"There's Flash and Flash Jr.!" A girl called out.
"His name's Speedy." The person next to her said.
"No, that's Green Arrow's sidekick," She explained.
"That doesn't make any sense!" Her friend shouted again.

Kid Flash pouted, sad that nobody knew his name.I felt kind of bad, so I walked over to him. "It's okay. I was called Little Lantern, or GL Junior most of the time, when I started out," I told him.

We both started laughing, and he smiled at me in appreciation.

"Come on, they're getting ahead of us." I said happily, and we both ran to catch up.

"Ready to see the inner sanctum?" Green Arrow  asked us excitedly.
"Born that way," stated Speedy confidently.
"I'm just happy to be here," I grinned, more humble than that Jerk over there.

"Have all five sidekicks ever been in the same place at the same time?" Robin wondered aloud.

Don't call us sidekicks," Speedy said sternly. "Not after today."

"Is it your time in the hall too?" I asked Kid Flash timidly. I didn't want to be the only one that had never been here before.

He nodded. "I'm a little overwhelmed."

Robin spoke up. "Freeze was underwhelmed, you're overwhelmed, why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?"

I giggled a little at his strange twist on the words.

He looked up, and was immediately in awe of the huge building. "Oh, maybe that's why."

The doors opened, and Red Tornado stepped out. He was a big red robot.

"Aqualad,Robin,Speedy,Kid Flash and Blue Lantern, welcome." He brought us into a sort of living room, with three chairs.

Kid Flash and Robin immediately ran to the closest two chairs, and Aqualad calmly walked over to the last available one, while I perched on the arm of Robin's chair. Speedy stood.

'I really need to learn their real names,' I thought to myself.

"You now have unlimited access to our gym, our fully stocked library, and, of course, our library." He continued.

"Yes!" I whispered, pumping my fist in the air slightly. "Do you like to read?" Robin asked curiously.
I nodded my head enthusiastically. At home, you would usually find me with a book in my hand.

"Make yourselves at home," Flash grinned at us. I smiled back, leaning backwards and putting my hands behind my head.

"Quick debrief to discuss four ice villains attacking on the same day. We shouldn't be long." Batman stated, before leading the Justice Leaguers to the zeta beams. I sat back up. Four ice villains attacking, on the same day? That can't be a coincidence.

'Recognized: Batman 0-2, Aquaman 0-6, Flash 0-4, Green Arrow 0-8, Martian Manhunter 0-7, Green Lantern 0-9, Red Tornado 1-6.' The computerized voice said, ready to teleport them through.

Before Batman stepped inside, Speedy exploded.

"That's it? You promised us a real look inside, not a glorified backstage pass." He seethed.

"It's a first step. You're getting access few others get." Aquaman spoke calmly, trying to diffuse the situation.

"Oh really?" He said sarcastically. "Who cares what side of the glass we're on."

"Roy, you just need to be patient," Green Arrow says.
'His real name is Roy?' I think to myself.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts by the next sentence of his temper tantrum.

"No, what I need is respect!" He shouted, practically frothing at the mouth.

Many other words were thrown from Roy to the Justice League, which ended up with Roy spilling the secret of the Watchtower, the real Justice League base. I already knew,as Hal isn't good at keeping secrets, but it seems that the others didn't.

"I guess they were right about you four. You're not ready." He stated, and threw off his little yellow hat at Green Arrows feet, and stormed off.
I guess it's just us four now.
