Chapter 21 - Visititors

"Dreamer!" I shout , worried about his injuries.

Just then do I notice a lady who looks to be about forty with brown hair staring at me. Her hands are touching my leg. I sit up.

"Your horse is fine Miss." the lady says politely. "The vet checked him up And he only has mild scratches. He should be rideable in a couple of days."

I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding. Thank goddess Dreamers safe.

"You on the other hand will take a little longer to heal." She stated. "The bite was pretty deep, but I've stitched it up already. I did it while you were asleep."

I get nervous again. "How long till I'll be able to ride?"

"Only about a week." She says.

A week! That's gonna feel like forever.

"Now I'm just going to change your bandages." The lady said, taking out a roll of white fabric.

She starts to unravel the bandages at my calf , and I slowly start to see more blood appear as each layer comes off. When she lifts the final layer off, I can see the stitches in a clear shape of a bite. She takes out a bottle from her bag along with some wipes.

"This might hurt just a bit." She says.

She pours some of what I assume the disinfectant onto one of the wipes before  she starts to rub away the access blood on my leg. It stings a little but not as much as I thought it would.

Next she starts to wrap the fabric around my leg, but much less of it. She quickly ties it on before turning to me.

"I gave you less bandages today, due to the fact that your not really bleeding anymore." She explains. "You'll be able to leave after you see your visitors."

Visitors? What visitors? Also where am I?  She Packs up her bag and starts to leave. Then she turns around.

"Also just letting you know, I gave you a shot yesterday for anything the animal could have spread to you." She says before turning and leaving.

Just then Sherri walks in the door, rushing over to me. "Oh thank god your okay." She said. "What happened?"

"A wolf bit me." I explained.

"Oh wow, no wonder it's such a big bite." Sherri says.

"Where am I?" I ask.

"Your in our sick bay." Sherri says. " it's one of the rooms attached to my office." She explains.

"How many days have I been asleep?" I ask.

"You've only been here since yesterday." Sherri replies. "Also after you see your next visitors, you can leave, just no riding, and don't forget to grab this crutch." She explains.

"Thank you." I say, and she leaves.

Next Cameron walks in the door, utter fear on his face as he walks up to me. He doesn't say hello, he just pulls me into a bear hug. It takes me a second to realize what's happening, but when I do I hug him back. I can feel his breath on my neck, and it send tingles down my spine. My hart beats faster, as if I have the heart of a humming bird.

He releases me for what feels like an eternity later, but was probably only a few seconds. His hands rest on my shoulders as he stares at me concerned.

"Are you okay?" He asks, searching my eyes with his blue ones.

"I'm mean, if I wasn't I wouldn't be here." I say, jokingly, and trying to get him to smile.

He doesn't.

"Is that a yes?" He says, still concerned.

"Yeah I'm fine." I reply.

"What happened?" He asked, staring into my eyes, his hands still resting on my shoulders.

Just then do I remember that Victoria let Dreamer go. A burst of anger erupts from me, but I make sure it doesn't reach my face. Cameron is already emotional right now, if I told him Victoria did it, I think he'd hate her more then you do, and that's a big statement.
So I leave her out of the story.

"Dreamer was tied up because his stall was being cleaned, but then he got lose. He went to his favourite spot. The cross country jumps." I explained. "Of course I chased after him, and when I got there, he was pinned up against a jump, with two wolves trying to attack him. I started to get them to move further away from him so I could ride him back, but as I went to hop on, one bit me."

"And then you rode back." Cameron finishes.

"Yeah." I reply.

"Are you sure your okay?" Cameron asks again, his arms trailing down from my shoulders to my elbows. Chills run down them.

"Yeah Cameron, I'm Fine, I promise." I say convincingly.

He pulls me into another hug, his chin resting in the crock of my neck. "I told you to call me Cam."

"Okay, sorry Cam."  I say , releasing him from my arms.

A smile finally takes up his face and I smile back. "I'll go now so the other two can come see you." He says walking to the door.

Just then Scarlett and Abby rush in, pulling me into another hug. Soon they pull away, concern on their faces.

"Oh my gosh are you okay!" Scarlett asks practically screaming.

"What happened?" Abby asks really loudly.

"Yes guys I'm fine." I say and they let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh good." Scarlett says, relief in her voice.

"Phew." Abby says. "What did happen?"

"Well..." I start. "Basically the whole ending part was I tried to fend of two wolves that we're trying to attack Dreamer. Dreamer couldn't get away because he was pinned against the cross country jumps. So when I tried to get on him, one of them bit me. So I rode back and here I am now." I explain.

"Oh wow!" Abby says. "I can't believe you did that."

"Oh my gosh that's brave." Scarlett says in awe. "Wait how did Dreamer get there?"

"Victoria was about to muck out his stall because it's her job now, but then she asked me to go get a pitchfork for her, so I did. When I came back, she was grinning, and had clearly untied Dreamer. He ran off to the cross country field, and you know the ending."

"WHAT!" Abby shouts. "IM GONNA FRICKEN MURDER HER!" Abby starts to storm off towards the door, but I grab her arm.

"Wait!" I say. "You can give her crap later!"

"Why not now!" Scarlett yells mad. "I need to give her a piece of my mind." She grumbles.

"Because I didn't tell Cameron." I say sheepishly.

"WHAT!" They both shout.

"He was so emotional when he came in, he only cracked a smile right before he left, he didn't even smile when I tried to be funny." I said. "He would've hated Victoria more then all of our hatred combined."

"Well he should!" Scarlett yells.

"I'll tell him tomorrow, he was just so concerned I didn't want another thing to rattle up his brain." I reply.

"I can see where your coming from." Abby said, agreeing with me. "But Cameron might figure out your lie."

"Huh?" I say confused.

"Oh yeah, right after you passed out Dreamer was almost guarding  you." Scarlett starts to explain. "Victoria kept trying to get you, but Dreamer would rear at her. He let the doctor come get you, but wouldn't let Victoria get near her."

"That's strange." I say.

"Victoria even looked concerned, she clearly didn't mean for what she did to go that far." Abby states. "But Dreamer didn't let her anywhere near you. He even started following you when they were bringing you here. He put up a real fuss when me an Scarlett tried to grab him."

"Oh wow, that's so weird, he must have been still frightened from the wolves." I say.

"I dunno..." Scarlett says. "He seemed really protective of you."

"That's really strange, even for him." I reply. "Anyways, can you help me get put of this bed?"

"Oh yeah for sure." Abby replies, and they both start helping me up.

I grab the crutch and we start to walk back towards the dorm...
