Prologue

I don't own Naruto

3rd POV
......................................................

Lights flickered around the gated off clan. People were slowly trickling away from one of the buildings which was slightly taller than the rest and had a sign on the door which read 'clan meeting 08/15 at 7'. Three figures stood by the tall wooden doors, the two adults greeting each person as they left. The child between them would smile and offer a soft nod and every so often say a soft goodbye.

Only once all the people had exited the building did the three turn to go back inside. The man paused to make sure both females had gone in before he followed after taking down the sign. His clothes consisted of a dark blue yukata with thin white stripes, on the back of his clothes was the clans symbol, which appeared as if was a large red lizard going around in a circle, the only white part showing was the eye and the white orange it appeared he was holding. It strangely looked similar to the yin yang symbol. The man's brunette hair, which normally was messy and wavy was slicked back neatly and he had taken off his Konoha headband.

"Mai, I'll put up the chairs if you can clean up the papers." He asked as he shut the door behind him.

The woman glanced over towards him. She wore a white yukata which was decorated with pink sakura flowers, her light blonde hair pinned out of her face. Unlike the man, who has narrowed dark green eyes, her eyes were big and a bright blue. A small smile formed on her lips and she nodded, "Of course, Teno."

"Papa! What can I help with?" The child hopped over towards the man. Much like Mai, she wore a white yukata, though it was stripped with purple stripes. Her hair was a dirty blonde and held the same waves as Teno, though the front had been tied back into a half up half down style. Her eyes were the same shape as Mai, and a lighter color than Teno's dark green.

Teno looked down at the girl, a hesitance making him pause as he shook his head. "You don't need to help, Yuki. How about you just sit down and rest, you already took it hard enough with class today."

Mai glanced over at the two, her mouth pressing together before she continued to stack papers together. She made a mental note to talk with her husband later.

Yuki stopped bouncing and frowned, her shoulders slumping. "Oh... are you sure? I can help, I really don't mind!"

Teno gave a small tense smile and nodded as he carried a bunch of chairs towards the closet. "Yes, but if you want I'm sure your mother wouldn't mind if you helped her with dinner."

Yuki glanced over towards the blonde woman, who glanced up at the mention of her. They shared a look, Mai smiling and nodding softly before shrugging. Yuki sighed and nodded, leaning against the wall before slumping against it until she sat on the ground.

"I could have gone with Sasuke to train." She muttered, noticing her father grow more tense. "He's the best at kunai throwing."

Mai smiled, nodding in agreement. "Of course he is, Itachi is a wonderful teacher. However, you have to be at the clan meetings as well Yuki. Especially since you'll be in charge of them one day."

Not much was said after then between the three. Teno quickly cleaned up the chairs, Mai organized the papers, and Yuki sat there with a blank look on her face as she zoned out.

Soon enough they were walking back to their home. Most of the lights were still on in the clan, though some had flickered off as the night became later. The trio was mostly quiet as they walked.

When they got to their home, a simple one story home which wasn't giant nor was it tiny. It wasn't the nicest home in the clan, and it wasn't the worst. The building lacked a bunch of outdoor decorations, though one childish sign did decorate the door. It appeared to have three hand prints which were plastered in pink paint on a scribbled on board, each of which held a name in the middle of the hand print. It was clear the board was placed there by neither Teno nor Yuki, and simple by Mai, who had claimed multiple times that the board was simply adorable and extremely inviting. It was simply home to the three of them.

As soon as they opened the door, a nice cool breeze ran over them welcoming them into the dark home. Yuki was the first to run inside, squeezing past the pair and rushing to take off her shoes. Her green eyes were wide as a sudden realization hit her and she tired to throw her shoes away as fast as she could.

Mai's blue eyes blinked before a smirk fell on her lips. Teno was simply staring at their daughter with blank look. "Ne, what's wrong, Yuki?" Mai asked, both adults slowly walking into the entry of their home. Both pausing to carefully take off their shoes and line it up against the other shoes by the door.

"Forgot!" Yuki shouted as she ran towards her room, "Homework!"

Teno sighed and Mai gave a small grin. "Well, try to finish it soon! I'll have dinner out in thirty minutes tops!"

Teno glanced at Mai, who's grin faltered at the look from her husband. "You're still encouraging her? Shouldn't we put that dream of hers down? I really think we've let it go on enough."

Mai's lips pressed together and she found herself frowning at Teno. He had brought this subject up at least once a month. It always went that she defends Yuki. He starts getting angry, though she knows he is only concerned. Then they get into an argument, and it ends with him sleeping on the couch. Teno always refuses to let Mai sleep on the couch, even when she demands that she will be the one after their argument.

She didn't fell like arguing tonight. They had just hosted a clan meeting, which did have some troubling news. That news of course is not backed up by their own investigators, but Mai wasn't one to shove the information from her former teacher off to the side. Especially after all she's lost through the years.

"She's strong, Teno." Mai finally defended. She knew the potential in their daughter, their training sessions showing her such potential.

"You're only saying that because you both share the same chakra type." Teno shook his head, his eyebrows furrowing and part of his lip curling upward. "She's sick. Every time she uses her chakra..." He shook his head, "she's too frail for this. My sister couldn't be a ninja either, it's not something that's new.-"

"She's different." Mai insisted, walking towards the kitchen and keeping her tone hushed. Teno was quick to follow her, and began pulling out the food they had prepped earlier for their dinner. "The crystal chakra works different."

Teno shook his head. "Not different enough to stop it. I've seen how that works. You've seen it. Yuki's felt it. Those nights in the hospital. Mai, I don't want her being at risk like this all the time."

Mai placed down the knife and glared towards Teno, who also paused at his wife's expression. "What the hell do you think us ninja's do all the time? We constantly risk our lives. I know she's not the healthiest, and it will take a toll on her, but the least we can do for now is support her. If we don't do that then what else are we supposed to do? Besides, I have someone looking up a way to cure her."

Their bickering filtered into the room over where Yuki sat. Her pencil rested in her hand and she stared down at the paper which simply asked which hand signs she was supposed to use for the transformation jutsu. The grip on her pencil tightened a little before loosening.

She had grown used to hearing the old argument. Though she did appreciate her parents trying to keep it down, their hushed tones weren't quiet enough to not filter into her room. Yuki well knew her father wasn't fond of her dream. She also understood why, just like she understood why both of her parents overloaded themselves with work. They didn't want to get even more attached to her when she could die quite young from her illness.

It was why she grew close to Sasuke and his older brother Itachi. Though Itachi was normally busy, Sasuke was still around for Yuki to train with. He was nice to her, though Yuki suspected it was because of the friendliness their clans shared. The Desutoka did help the Uchiha's with their police work.

Yuki had managed to keep her illness a secret from the Uchiha's. She feared that if they knew they too would avoid her in the possibility of her dying. It was selfish, but she liked her friendship with the Uchiha. The girls in the class didn't like her because of her friendship, though she didn't mind because of how they acted for the most part. Most of the guys were iffy, though her mother has pushed her to talk to the class clown.

Naruto Uzumaki wasn't necessary a bad kid. He seemed a bit loud and appeared to love to pull pranks, pranks that Yuki admitted she would love to see more of. She has also noticed how most of the class avoids him like the plague, which she doesn't understand why. However, each time Yuki has tried to talk to him, he either ignores her or gives her a weird look.

So for now Yuki had placed befriending Naruto Uzumaki on the back burner.

Shortly after Yuki finished her homework she heard her mother call for her. She was quick to hop to her feet, her stomach gurgling. Though she won't admit it to either parent, Yuki had seen Naruto without a lunch today and had just so happened to drop her lunch by the swing he always sat on. When she had double checked to see if he was eating it, she was happy to see the Uzumaki thoroughly enjoying the food she had packed herself. He even had the sense to leave her bento box on the swing after class.

Mai smiled as Yuki entered the dining room. "Did you finish your homework?"

Yuki didn't miss the twitch of her father, which she ignored as she always did and smiled. "Yeah, it was pretty easy."

Then both parent's paused. Their backs stiffening and their body tensing. Mai's head tilted to the side and Teno's lip curled. They shared a glance, as if to double check something.

A hard knock on their door made Yuki jump and glance back. However when she went to stand, Mai held a hand out and shook her head.

"That's not one of ours." She whispered, making the child blink.

Then the door busted down.

If the three had known this would be their last moment together, perhaps things would have gone differently.

End of the Prologue!

Hey guys! So if you have already read Becoming a Ninja, this is the reboot. I just wasn't happy with how Yuki was originally. There will be quite a few changes here, which you'll notice as I post chapters. I'm sure the first is already the mention of Desutoka. I just want to clarify that this story will not have the Tensai as the clan's kekkai genkai. Though the Desutoka will have similarities, I have redone it to help not overpower Yuki, as the Tensai had before. Also, you may have noticed her last name changed. That is because of her summoning change. You'll get to that later on though. I won't give out anymore changes until they show up, but if you have any questions feel free to ask! Let me just clarify real quick, this Yuki is still the same Yuki as the other story. I have changed some things, but she's still the same for the most part.

I do try to answer as many as I possibly can! I hope you can all enjoy this reboot, and hopefully you'll all enjoy it way more than with the original Yuki.

Also, updates on this will be slow, but they will exist!
