Chapter 3
I do not own Naruto
............................................
The amount of panic that filled me when I opened my eyes was insane. At some point after I had taken my medicine yesterday I had crashed, which meant I hadn't checked up on Naruto. I fell out of my bed with a loud thump as my blankets were wrapped all around me.
Sitting up I swiped my alarm clock off my nightstand and glared at the time. I had not only slept through my self promise to check up on my friend, but I had just barely woken up in time to go and get our team assignments.
Apparently, my biggest weakness is my need for sleep.
Kicking my feet out I freed myself from my blankets and stood up with a groan. The first thing I needed to do was take my first set of medication, which was supposed to help avoid an attack. Going off the idea that today is just introductions, I'm assuming we won't do anything else other than get to know our team.
Preferably, I would hope I'm on the same team as Naruto. That is, of course, assuming he had passed yesterday. If I'm not able to be on Naruto's team I wasn't sure how I'll be able to keep my promise to myself and protect him, especially since it won't just be people sneering at him now that he'll be a ninja.
Female wise, there was only one female that I knew I wouldn't mind being in a team with. Hinata Hyuuga has been the only female I haven't gotten into an argument with. That case being because she was the only female in my class that didn't treat Naruto badly. She was also the only other female that didn't obsess over Sasuke, though in the end that didn't matter much to me as she wasn't treating Naruto badly.
Due to her shy nature I have grown to have a sort of protectiveness over her, given how there had been a couple of comments from others about her meek personality. It has become a popular rumor that Hinata's father saw her as too weak due to her personality and wasn't sure she would be a good fit to be the next head of her clan. Perhaps I've grown protective over Hinata because I would have been the next head of my clan, if they were still alive, and my father had mentioned something similar as well.
Of the females I didn't get along with, Sakura and Ino were on the top of my list of those I do not get along with. That mainly being they tended to be more aggressive towards Naruto. If Naruto had done something to actually deserve the mistreatment, it might be a different story.
Of the guys in our class, I've only grown a distance towards Sasuke. We used to be friends in our younger years, but after our clans died we drifted apart. Though I suppose there would be no reason for us to remain friends, as were were first introduced due to us both being potential leaders of our clans. However, I noticed that he's grown more aggressive through the years.
Sasuke's the last person I'd want to be placed on a team with.
I looked down at my blue headband. The symbol of Konoha was etched in the metal, signifying me as a ninja of the leaf village. My mother had worn two headbands, one which was from Konoha, but the other was from a different village which I had never heard of. She had never told me why or where she had obtained the headband. Though both she had wore with pride.
Now, I finally had earned my own, which I was going to wear with pride and make another name for the Tokage clan. Tying it around my forehead, I placed my bangs over it and smiled softly. Perhaps my parents would have been proud.
........................................................
Sliding open the door, I let out a sigh of relief as Iruka was still absent. I'd made it just barely on time, again. Walking in, my eyes narrowed in on Naruto and I raised my hand to greet him before freezing in shock.
In the middle of all of Sasuke's followers, the most dangerous zone for Naruto to be, sat Naruto and Sasuke. How they got into the position was beyond me, but somehow they were locking lips.
"Naruto-kun," I blinked, my voice coming out shocked as they jumped apart and began gagging. I suppose it was unintentional, though what friend would I be if I didn't tease him for it. "I didn't realize you were a fan of the Uchiha too. Ne, I'm sure your future kids will like to hear all about your first kiss."
Naruto had fallen off of the desk and was clenching his neck, his tongue sticking out of his mouth as he let out gurgles. "My lips! They've been poisoned!"
I laughed, walking over towards the crowd, which was still in shock over the ordeal. "Ne, Naruto-kun, what did you do to make Uchiha kiss you? You should tell your secret to all these girls."
My teasing came to a stop completely when I noticed the murderous intent that was starting to come from the females. It didn't come to a surprise to me that the two that seemed to be leading the fans were Sakura and Ino.
"Naruto! You stole Sasuke's first kiss." Sakura growled, cracking her knuckles as she prepared to beat up Naruto.
I stepped in front of Naruto, my eyes narrowing. "Back off." I growled.
Ino and Sakura had taken the lead, as usual, and had aimed their glares towards me. Everyone knew the three of us didn't get along, all because of moments like these. Strangely enough, each time it was the three of us fighting it typically steered away the other females that had been fighting about Sasuke. This time was just like every other, as the other girls started to back off.
"Move aside, Yuki." Sakura demanded, glaring at me.
"No." I crossed my arms, "Naruto's suffered enough. He's already had to kiss the Uchiha, he doesn't need either of you to punish him further. If anyone gets to be mad about their kiss it's Naruto and Sasuke. Besides, how do you know that was Sasuke's first kiss?"
Their eyes widened at the comment and they appeared more upset. Before they could say anything else the door slid open and Iruka stepped in. Ino frowned at me, turning and walking off. I looked towards Sakura and met her glare with one of my own.
"Ino, Sakura, Yuki, please take a seat." Iruka called out, a sigh escaping him as he must have assumed we were fighting.
Sakura took advantage of everyone's distraction and slid in beside Sasuke. That, of course, prompted Naruto to slid in beside Sakura. Looking at Sakura for a moment Naruto sighed then saw me and tried to make more room for me to sit down. He then patted the seat and grinned towards me.
Smiling and rolling my eyes at him, I plopped myself down next to Naruto. It was a little cramped, but honestly most of the seats were already filled up anyway and I would rather not get Iruka on my case again.
Iruka proceeded in giving his speech of how proud he was of each of us. I reckon he gave the same speech every year to every class, given how scripted it felt. Besides that, I'm sure the only thing everyone is paying attention to is what team they're on.
"Next, team seven. Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno,-" Iruka was interupted by Naruto standing up and cheering, followed by Sakura slamming her head on the desk in misery. Naruto then grabbed my arm and crossed his fingers. "Sasuke Uchiha." Once again Iruka was cut off by Naruto and Sakura, though they had switched who was in misery and cheering.
I patted Naruto's head in sympathy and frowned. Teams were set in three's, which meant I wasn't going to be on his team then. Though, I wasn't sure how functional it was going to be given the three people placed on the team.
"And lastly, since we have an off number of students that passed this year. Team seven was chosen to be the team with the extra member." Iruka explained, making me blink and raise my hopes once more. "Yuki Tokage."
Naruto looked towards me and grinned before a thought crossed his head and he stood up and slammed his hands on the desk. "Hey! Why do I have to be in the same team as Sasuke?! Dattebayo!"
Seeming dejected, Naruto slouched back down in his seat which only caused the Uchiha to smirk and look towards Naruto. "Don't hold me back, dobe."
A small sigh escaped me and I wanted to slam my head down on the desk. What genius placed us all together in a team? Naruto and Sasuke are the furthest from being able to get along. Sakura only gets "along" with Sasuke because she is obsessed with him, and in return Sasuke could not care less about her. Meanwhile Sakura and I clash far more than needed to have good teamwork.
Would I trust Sakura with my life? Absolutely not. Would Naruto trust his life with Sasuke? Absolutely not. Will that bring about good teamwork? Absolutely not.
This is, without a single shred of doubt, a dysfunctional team.
...................................................................
"He's late." Naruto complained, a frown pulling at his lips.
I nodded in agreement at his comment, glancing around as the only team that was left in the classroom my team. It has been a couple of hours from the agreed upon meeting that our new instructors were supposed to come.
It just didn't seem very professional to be late. Especially for a ninja to be late, timing was everything, wasn't it?
My eyes traveled over towards Naruto as he stood up with a grin forming on his face. When he picked up one of the chalk board erasers I found a smirk forming on my face, he was going to pull a prank. As he dragged a chair and placed the eraser in between the sliding door the obnoxious team member number one turned her attention towards him.
"Naruto, what are you doing?!" She shouted, seeming shocked by his actions. My eyes left Naruto and instead narrowed on the pink haired female.
"This is what he gets for being late!" Naruto answered with a grin, hopping off of the chair as he laughed. "Surprise!"
"You know you shouldn't do that." Sakura scolded, placing her hands on her hips.
"YoU kNoW yOu ShOuLdN't Do ThAt." I mocked making sure to make my voice higher pitched, rolling my eyes at her which caused her to snap her head towards me only to see my glare and return it with one of her own.
"Our teacher is a jounin, I doubt he will fall for a trick as lame as that." Sasuke spoke for the first time since we've been sitting here. His elbows were placed on the desk and his hands clasped together in front of his face. Even though he commented, he still appeared disinterested in what Naruto had done.
Sakura sent a smirk towards me, as if her point had been proven, before looking towards Naruto. "Yeah Naruto! Sasuke-kun is right! Our sensei will never fall for a trick like that."
"You just repeated Uchiha's words, but somehow it sounded even more annoying from your mouth." I rolled my eyes then turned to look towards Sasuke with a smirk forming on my face. "Maybe our teacher will do nothing about it and it will work. Wanna make a bet, Uchiha?"
I ignored Sakura's gaze that was growing heated as I looked towards Sasuke. To my surprise, Sasuke met my gaze, and if I was correct there was a small smirk that formed on his smug face. "Fine, if I win-"
"Here's the thing." I cut him off, shaking my head. "You're not going to win. Not when Naruto is fairly good with pranks and just about always lands the prank. So, my condition, when I win, you have to be my servant all day for any day I choose."
His eye twitched, "Fine. If I win, you have to keep the females away for a whole day, transformed as me."
The thought alone of having to transform as Sasuke was punishment enough, but to have to keep his fan club away from him as well sent a shiver through me. A shudder of disgust went through my body at the thought of having to look like Sasuke for a day.
However, I shoved my hand in his hand shook his hand and grinned. "Sounds like a plan to me, since I'm going to win. I don't take bets that I'll lose on." Besides that, maybe I can get the ultimate revenge on Sasuke's fan's and insult them while looking like Sasuke.
When I turned towards the door I blinked at a confused looking Naruto and an angry looking Sakura. Naruto was probably confused as to why I would even want to shake Sasuke's hand, and Sakura was probably angry because I shook Sasuke's hand. It's quite amusing how easily I can get under her skin with small things.
Our attention instantly snapped towards the door as a hand appeared and began to slide the door. We waited in anticipation, both Sasuke and I paying the closest attention towards the opening door. The door slid open and our teacher poked his head in, the eraser dropping and landing on his head before bouncing off and towards the floor.
The reactions were quick. Naruto was laughing loudly, pointing at the jounin that fell for his prank. Sakura's eyes were wide and she looked shocked. Meanwhile I was grinning and looking towards Sasuke in victory, said boy seemed to sigh in annoyance and appeared troubled.
He should be. He's not going to be my servant for the day. Naruto will put him to good use. Perhaps he can go around and do stupid pranks.
I looked back towards our new teacher and blinked, my head tilting as I recognized the man. This was the guy that had caught me yesterday as I was in the middle of an attack. Something else is also familiar, but I can't quite place it.
"I totally got you, dattebayo!" Naruto grinned as he was still laughing.
Sakura quickly stood up and bowed towards the new teacher. A look of horror on her face now to cover up the shock. "I'm so sorry sensei! I told him not to do it, but he just wouldn't listen!" Then she shoved a finger towards me, "And Yuki kept encouraging him!"
Was she trying to get me in trouble? My nose wrinkled my nose towards the pink haired girl and resisted the urge to yell at her. I didn't exactly encourage him, I just didn't stop him.
"Kiss up." I mumbled with an eyeroll and crossing my arms.
The man began to stroke his chin as if in thought. "Hmm, my first impression of you three is... you're a bunch of morons." He appeared to give a closed eye smile, though it was hard for me to tell if he was smiling because of the mask on his face.
Sakura blinked, "Wait," She held up a hand, "you said three, but there are four of us."
He nodded, "Yes, but I have met Yuki before this, so this is technically not my first impression of her. Though if it had, she would have been grouped with the rest of you." My eye twitched at the man and a nagging thought wanted to know what he had thought of me before. It likely wasn't good considering he called everyone else morons. "Now meet me up on the roof." Forming a hand sign he disappeared in a poof of smoke.
I frowned, beginning to walk towards the door. "He wasted chakra trying to seem cool to a bunch of genin. Honestly, he could have just walked a few feet." I looked towards Naruto as he rushed over to walk with me with a grin.
"It was kinda cool though, dattebayo." He chuckled.
I shrugged, "Maybe he's actually just lazy." Naruto laughed again at the thought though it made me worry. I feel like a lazy teacher wouldn't be the best to have considering our lives will rest in his hands.
......................................................
The four of us sat on a set of stairs, staring at our new teacher. He was busy leaning against the railing staring at each of us, as if he was trying to figure out our thoughts. I sat on the top stairs, next to Naruto who sat a stair below me. Beside Naruto was Sakura, who had tried to make a fuss about him sitting next to her but quickly quieted down with a glance towards our teacher. Though perhaps Sasuke sitting next to her had shut her up as well, considering she keeps looking towards him.
I looked up to see our teacher look between Naruto and I. He caught my eye and I could have sworn the man smirked before leaning back more against the railing and clearing his throat. "Okay, introduce yourselves. State your name, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and dreams for the future."
"Can you give us an example? Maybe by introducing yourself, sensei?" Sakura asked, looking away from the Uchiha to look towards Kakashi.
I looked towards our teacher, not objecting to Sakura's comment. Though, if I went from the things I had seen so far, he just seems lazy. If that's the case, he might not really give much information.
He looked towards Sakura dully. "Me?" He sighed softly. "Okay. I'm Kakashi Hatake. My likes and dislikes... I don't feel like telling you. My hobbies..." He paused for a moment. "And my dream for the future, I never really thought about it." He finished with his one eye closed.
Naruto's and my eye twitched in annoyance at Kakashi's introduction. "All he did was tell us his name." Sakura sighed in annoyance, which I nodded slightly to.
Opening his eye he looked us over before landing on Naruto and pointing towards him. "You, the one in orange, you go first."
Immediately, the blonde grinned and gripped his headband. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, dattebayo! I like ramen, especially miso ramen! Oh and ramen you pour in a cup! Even more so the ramen that Iruka sensei and Yuki-chan buy me! I don't like the three minutes you have to wait for ramen to cook. And my hobbies are eating and comparing different types of ramen, dattebayo!" His grin grew bigger. "And my dream for the future is to surpass the Hokage's!"
Kakashi nodded, then pointed towards Sakura. "You next."
She smiled, "My name is Sakura Haruno. I like-I mean the person I like it-" She stopped to look at Sasuke, a blush forming on her face. "My hobbies are... And my dream is.." She trailed off, her face covered in a blush as she hugged herself squealing.
I frowned in disgust and shook my head at her. She literally only talked about Sasuke. Nothing about her. Her whole thing seemed as informational as Kakashi's introduction.
Kakashi sighed, appearing to think the same thing. "Your dislikes?"
Without hesitation she glared towards Naruto and I. "Naruto and Yuki!"
Naruto's eyes widened before he shouted out a complaint. Poor guy really liked this girl. Meanwhile I smirked towards her. "Glad to know I've left an impression on you."
Kakashi looked up towards me, almost looking worried that I would have the same thoughts as Sakura. "Okay, your turn."
I smiled, "I'm Yuki Tokage. I like sushi, making bets, and training with Naruto-kun. What I dislike are fangirling girls who insult others, arrogant people, and people who underestimate you. My hobbies include improving jutsu's, and on occasions helping Naruto-kun prank people. My dream is to become a powerful kunoichi." My smile faltered for a moment as I wasn't sure I would even make it to be all that strong with my illness. However I shook my head and clenched my fist and smiled once more.
Kakashi stared at me for a moment before looking towards Sasuke. "Lastly, you."
Sasuke didn't move from his position. His hands were held together in front of his face as he spoke. "My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I don't particularly like anything. I have many dislikes, and i don't have any hobbies. What I have isn't a dream, more of a ambition. I will restore my clan, and kill a certain someone."
I blinked, quickly looking at Naruto who seemed to be freaking out, he probably thought Sasuke wanted to kill him. Then I looked back at Sasuke and lowered my voice to mutter, "Well, if you really want to restore your clan, maybe you should stop ignoring all of those fangirls you attract..."
Both Sakura and Naruto lost in their own thoughts didn't seem to hear my comment. Sasuke sent a glare over towards me, obviously annoyed with me. For a moment I felt we were kids again and were friends once more and I was teasing him as I used to.
"Good, your all different in your own way." Kakashi smiled. However, his light and cheerful mood darkened. "Tomorrow we will meet at the training grounds at six o'clock."
Curious, Sakura asked, "What will we be doing?"
"Just a little survival exercise so I can evaluate your skills." Kakashi replied.
"But we already did survival exercises in the academy! Why will this one be so different?" Sakura asked, her voice raising in volume. I resisted the urge to demand for her to shut up as it was a decent question.
"Those were different. This one will test your skills as a ninja. As well as something else." He smirked.
"What?" I asked.
He stated laughing, which was not only creeping me out but also Naruto. I leaned down towards my best friend to whisper to him. "Ne, Naruto-kun, I don't think he's really all there."
He nodded in agreement with me before demanding an answer from Kakashi. "Hey! Why are you laughing?!"
"Oh it's nothing really. But... you're not gonna like it." He replied.
"What?" Sakura pushed.
"Out of all the genin that passed the graduation exam, only ten will actually become ninja's. So in other words, tomorrow's survival test determines if you continue on as a ninja, or you get sent back to the academy." He answered dully.
"W-What?!" Naruto and Sakura shouted.
While the others were freaking out I let out a breath and let my determination set in. Tomorrow I needed to absolutely pass, it is just another step along the way to become a ninja.
Standing up, he rested a foot on the railing. "Oh, and one last piece of advice. Don't eat anything tomorrow, or you might puke." With a two finger wave, he jumped off the building leaving all of us.
"Don't eat breakfast?!" Naruto shouted, his hands pulling at his hair. "What's that suppose to mean?"
I sighed, standing from my spot and dusting off my clothes. "Ne, Naruto-kun, you hungry? I'll treat you to some ramen?"
As if he had completely forgotten the problem he grinned, "Okay! Let's go, Yuki-chan!" I smiled, as always ramen solved all of his worries.
He stood up quickly and looped his arm through mine then dragged me towards the railing of the roof. At the same time, we both bent our legs and jumped down from the building. Landing on the ground, we took a quick second to adjust before Naruto started dragging me towards the ramen shop.

End of Chapter 3!
I hope ya'll enjoyed the chapter! I'm trying to do at least one update a month, ideally two a month so hopefully ya'll will see more frequent updates! The beginning of the reboot is more similar to the original so far because more of the changes come up a little later on, but hopefully the few changes that I've made already are okay with ya'll!
