CHAPTER 5

I tied the silk lavender handkerchief around my gloved wrist, and followed the other girls out of the hall. As I walked down, i also kept an eye out for Fey. I would not go as far as saying we were friends, but she seemed quite decent, slow but decent.

"ELLA!" A voice I knew a little too well screamed. Why were they trying to talk to me? In public we usually steered clear of each other.

They ran towards me, and despite the fact that we were all in the same type of clothing, I had to admit my step sisters wore it well the least.

"What color were you given?" Anna asked. I showed her my tied wrist.

"Lavender, and you?" I asked her, crossing my fingers behind my back.

"Purple." Devina squealed. "Don't be too disappointed alright?"

"I will certainly try my hardest not to choke on it." I told her, my tone extremely sarcastic, and for once their brains were active enough to catch it.

"Look at that dress, i bet it's the prettiest you have ever tried on, am I right?" Anna asked me. I simply raised one eyebrow, my red lips curling in a smirk.

"I bet you wish for it to stay as it is, and not ripped." Devina said, eyes glinting with sick victory, and reached for the skirt of my dress.

I grabbed her hands before it could touch me, and started pressing on a major pressure point.

Devina whimpered, and I quickly stepped closer, holding her hands in such a way that it looked like a friendly hold to any onlooker.

"Do not test me, a little harder and this hand would have a hard time moving for quite sometime. Do not touch anything I own ever again." I muttered to her through clenched teeth and released her.

"This isn't over Ella, you will pay for this." Anna said, and ran off with her counterpart.

I shrugged, happy they finally left me in peace, and started moving towards the window.

"Ella, I have been looking all over for you." Fey walked up to me with a girl in tow.

"Ella, meet Bella. Bella, my new friend Ella." I gave her a curtsy which she returned. She was a lovely brown haired beauty, with huge brown eyes, and a stunning figure. Just great, another intimidating beauty.

"What color were you given?" Fey asked, rudely interrupting my thoughts. I sighed and showed her my wrists.

"Oh My God, lavender?" She shrieked, and Bella gave a huge grin as well.

"Yes! and you? what color were you given?" I asked her, already bouncing on my toes for reasons I chose to ignore.

"I got the same, and Bella too." Fey screamed. And we all burst out laughing.

"No way." I laughed. And was shocked when they both grabbed me for a quick spin and jump, they seemed quite familiar with each other.

It was a distinctly unladylike behavior. And coming from three stunning young women, most girls stopped and stared.

"Well come on girls lets go in." Bella said, and picked up her skirts. Her pretty slippers clacking on the cold marble floor.

The classroom was huge, with high ceiling, scented rose flowers in jars everywhere, high book shelves filled with books, and a personal chair and table for everyone. With stone walls and high windows, the room felt even bigger than it was.

"Alright every one take your seats and settle down, five minutes." A mistress called from her seat behind the front desk.

Bella, Fey and I, sat in the same row, and passed each other smiles waiting eagerly for this chapter to unfold.

"I am Mistress Rivera, River for short, and I would like to introduce you to what is now known as history_." She placed brand new textbooks on our desks, as she spoke elegantly.

Two classes later and it was lunch time. The three of us walked into the lunch room together. Laughing as we discussed the lectures, deliberating on our strengths and weaknesses, we all waited to be served, like the ladies we were learning to be.

"Servants are too slow, you can help can't you Ella?" Devina sneered as she walked with her sister and two other stuck up  looking girls, with their noses in the air.

I picked up my fork, and rolled it between dainty fingers. I sent them a piercing meaningful look, with gasps they hurried along, pulling their new friends with them.

"What was that all about?" Bella asked. "I don't like them." I smiled.

"That makes two of us."

Just then Lady Carona passed by, she was all alone and obviously looking for a seat, and ignoring the murmurs surrounding her appearance.

I waved at her until she finally noticed me, and moved to join us with no hesitation whatsoever.

After introductions, she settled down and we began talking.

"You know, I am very curious about your hair." Bella spoke up.

And Rheanon smiled and nodded, gesturing for her to carry on.

"What else is magical about it, apart from its length and remarkable texture of course." Bella asked leaning forward, we all did too.

"Texture?" Rheanon asked.

"Yes!" Fey piped up. "It is literally glowing." She laughed.

"Shh don't flatter, she hears you." She shushed patting her hair.

We all sat in petrified silence until she said. "It was a joke, damn no sense of humor." She laughed. Exchanging looks, we all burst out laughing as well.

Turns out she was in the same classroom, and we all sat together for the remainder of school that day.

After laughing and passing on a note Rheanon wrote about a stuck up girl sitting at the very front to Bella, it struck me how much like friendship this seemed.

And though Rheanon was proving to be quite reckless, while Bella preferred to day dream about romance, making up stories in her head, and Fey was quite hyperactive, and warned us she was prone to accidents and fainting. They felt like the perfect bunch, walking the remaining distance home to protect my fairy god mother existence from my step family. It still felt like the perfect first day.
