The park with the Park's
Hongjoong was aggressively pacing back and forth across the worn living room carpet as he hoped to relieve some of the great building stress. When Hongjoong had agreed to Seonghwa's offer of spending time with the pups the alpha had foolishly hoped it would lessen the load he was carrying. However it appeared to only increase the concern he already had. Yesterday afternoon Hongjoong had texted Seonghwa, setting a time for Sunday morning where Seonghwa would join the alpha and the pups at the local park.
So why was Hongjoong continuously feeling nervous about it? Everything was positive in the interactions. But yet he had a great fear about trusting the omega with his pups and them growing too attached to him. If Seonghwa eventually betrayed Hongjoong or turned his back from them, the pups could possibly be heart broken – in fact he could guarantee they will be heartbroken.
Currently the pups were playing with some toys in their room together. They were set to leave in a couple minutes – but Hongjoong was hopeful he could put it off a little longer. Retrieving his phone from his pocket he swiped to call Maddox. He needed the elder in this situation. Naturally he could contact Mingi or Yunho or even Jongho. But he didn't want to put that weight on them anymore than he already had.
"Someone better be dead or dying" a grumpy, tired voice stated through the phone. Maddox was far from a morning person – at least on a Sunday. He was a strong believer that Sunday was the day of rest – and that Saturday was a day of pre rest. The beta gave a deep groan as the bed creaked beneath him.
"Am I making the right decision?" Hongjoong burst out. He had reframed from continuing his pacing and instead took a seat on the edge of the couch armband. He was bouncing his leg slightly.
"Only you can answer that" Maddox replied with another deep groan. He gave a low yawn – a clear sign that he was beginning to awaken. The bed gave another creak, as he must have moved to get out.
"I know that the pups need an omega in their lives" Hongjoong began his rant. "The doctor had made that very clear. If I want to stand a chance of getting Youngseok to feel comfortable and decrease his stress levels than he needs a consistent omega to view as a guide and look to for support. I wish I could give the pups that comfort myself. But in this case for once I cant. I need to rely on someone else. I hate doing that. You know how much I hate putting my problems and difficulties on another person."
"Oh I'm well aware" Maddox mumbled and Hongjoong just knew he was rolling his eyes.
Hongjoong let out a low whimper. To him this wasn't a time for jokes. The alpha was seriously concerned. He didn't know if he could trust the omega. He clearly didn't have a good judgement of character in the past. "I'm trying to be serious here Maddox."
"Answer the video call" Maddox answered through the phone. Shortly after the phone vibrated. Pulling it back Hongjoong noticed the video chat request coming through. He sighed slightly in relief and answered it thankfully.
"You're lucky I love you" Maddox mumbled as he appeared on the screen. The beta still had ruffled hair and appeared to be in nothing more than his boxers. What caught Hongjoong's attention though was instantly drawn towards the marks across Maddox's neck. Perhaps the alpha had interrupted more than the beta sleeping.
Sighing heavily Hongjoong finally claimed a seat on the couch. "Thank you hyung" he breathed out.
"Every single omega is not identical. You cannot put wolves into comfortable little boxes based on their sub gender. You know that better than anyone." Maddox leaned back in the headboard. Although the man was clearly dead tired, he was still extremely wise. "Think of it this way. You hate that as an alpha other people judge you based on that. You have been put in positions where you have been criticized for being a single alpha, told that you cant raise your pups right, that they cannot be supported because you can't get a solid job. The second someone says you are incompetent based on being a single unmated alpha; you will do everything to prove them wrong.
"You cannot continue to fear that Seonghwa is going to become like Soyoung. They both might be omegas. However you have to assume similarities will end there."
Hongjoong hung his head slightly with a low sigh. But it was obvious that he was not yet convinced. "He could hurt the pups. What if they get attached to him and then he leaves them."
"Joongie" Maddox answered with his own softened tone. "Your main concern appears to be that the pups will grow to trust Seonghwa and see him as a supposed stable piece of their lives – only to lose him. But if you consider it, there is a possibility of the pups losing anyone important to them.
"Mingi's career is taking off. That'll lead to a larger workload. Based on his skills, there is a possibility of him creating music anywhere around the world. He could relocate to America. If Mingi was to leave, Yunho would surely follow – they are going to be mates. Plus Yunho has dreams of making it as a choreographer. There are major dance industries outside of Korea. Work could take the two of them anywhere – forcing them to part from you and the pups.
"As for me, I have no intentions of ever leaving you or Youngseok or Junyoung. However accidents can happen. I don't want to sound morbid. But we never know what could happen. Every time I get behind the wheel of the car I am putting myself at risk. When I cross the street I trust that cars will stop for me. Walking home at night I believe that no one is following me. Everything we do within our lives could be seen as a potential life ending situation. I could be taken from you and pups with zero warning. And the same could be said about Eden. He doesn't plan on leaving, but accidents happen.
"And what about Jongho? He's like a big brother to them with the amount of love he showers them with. However he does only have a couple more years left of university. Eventually he'll be graduating. And who knows where that'll be. He could move anywhere, live anywhere he wants. We have no idea where. But we'd never stop him; I know we would all support him. Although him leaving, would mean him leaving the pups' lives temporarily.
"Try as you might I highly doubt you'll be able to protect and save the pups from every difficult situation. I understand you wish you keep them from any possible experience that could lead to them being hurt or losing someone. However sometimes those situations could be taken from us. You could lose any of us at any given time. You cannot keep others from entering Youngseok and Junyoung lives based purely on that.
"And you don't know the future. Having Seonghwa in the pup's lives could turn out to be the greatest blessing for them. He could end up being very beneficial for all three of you."
"Yunho mentioned that last time I called too," Hongjoong stated softly. "He thinks having Seonghwa might be positive influence to my life. But I just don't see how having an omega in my life could be viewed as a good thing."
"That is exactly why you need the omega in your life" Maddox softened slightly. "How about this? You give it a try for today only. Watch Seonghwa with the pups and see how he treats them. If you continue to get a bad feeling about it, then don't move forward. Cut ties with him and pretend he never existed. Your wolf will know. Allow yourself to trust your wolf. Take your cues from there. If your wolf is comfortable then relax a little and let the pups enjoy their time with an omega."
Hongjoong gave a small nod. He silently twirled his fingers together nervously. "I know that I'm hard on the omega. But I just can't trust him so easily. It's like he needs to earn my trust." He had been getting too close with Seonghwa lately. But that was his relationship with him. They could sit outside together as often as they wanted chatting on the balcony. This time however it involved his pups. He couldn't take Seonghwa's involvement lightly.
The pups had already grown attached to the omega. Hell Youngseok listened to his singing each night. What if he got too attached? Soyoung, their own eomma left them. If she could do it so easily, why wouldn't Seonghwa?
"I can understand why you feel that way Joong," Maddox spoke softly. "I really can. But I promise you, whatever happens in the future, with any and all omegas, your friends are always going to be there for you. EDENARY and your pack, we're going to always support you. And I think Seonghwa has done a lot of the past couple weeks that has proven you can trust him."
"Okay" he whispered, nodding slowly. "I'll get the pups ready to go to the park."
Maddox offered Hongjoong a warm smile. "Now that's the Hongjoong I am proud to call my friend. Alright if we are good here I am going back to bed."
"You do realize it's almost ten right?" Hongjoong chuckled a little.
"Yup" Maddox nodded. "I was late getting to sleep."
Hongjoong gagged slightly. "You don't need to mention that."
"Just because your sex life is as dry as the dessert doesn't mean mine is," Maddox barked out a laugh.
"Hey!" Hongjoong frowned. "I have a very active sex life thank you very much."
'Oh yeah?" Maddox smirked. "When did you last get laid?"
Hongjoong clamped his mouth shut, his jaw clenching.
"That just proves my point," Maddox chuckled. "That's probably why you're so tense lately."
"I'm tense because I just moved to a new city with my two pups so I can start a new job" Hongjoong insisted.
"And do you know what will help you forget all that and relax for a moment?" Maddox wondered.
"Sex?" Hongjoong rolled his eyes.
"Mind blowing sex that allows you to really dominate the other person" Maddox answered with a wink. "Tie somebody up and pound into them is a great stress reliever. It's what I do when things get to be too much sometimes."
Hongjoong groaned. "Thanks for that wonderful image hyung."
"No problem" Maddox flashed a smile. "Hey, who's watching the pups this afternoon? Did you need my help? Or are you hanging out with Seonghwa all day?"
"It's alright" Hongjoong smiled softly. "You look like you could do with catching up on your sleep. Jongho is going to meet me at the playground and take the kids for lunch. It's rare for Jongho to get the weekends off these days."
Maddox nodded. "Alright well in that case I am heading back to sleep."
"Okay" Hongjoong nodded. "Thanks hyung."
"Welcome" Maddox flashed a smile in farewell and ended the call.
On a typical day Hongjoong would be proud of his pups for getting ready so effortlessly. They rarely complained or tried to wiggle away from their appa. They willingly got dressed and brushed their hair – their teeth were another story. Today however, Hongjoong would've given anything for that extra delay.
"Where are we going appa?" Youngseok asked as the three wolves exited the apartment.
"We are going to the park," Hongjoong answered with ease. He lifted the bag over his shoulder with a small sigh. The alpha hoped he was making the right decision. Locking the door he spun on his heels and started down the hall. With both pups in tow Hongjoong lead them towards the local playground. Although the park area was small, it was luckily close enough to the apartment that they often got to attend. It had enough to keep the young pups entertained.
Hongjoong moved towards one of the few benches available and took a seat. He knew he'd get a clear view of the pups from here. With a quick glance around the open space he noted that Seonghwa had not yet arrived – not that Hongjoong was expecting him just yet. He had surprisingly gotten to the park extra early.
"You two can go play" he encouraged the pups. Watching the two run off to play together on the slide Hongjoong took a seat.
For a moment Hongjoong had simple bliss. The warmth of the autumn sun and the scent of falling leaves filled Hongjoong with contentment. But his enjoyment was cut short with the arrival of a certain omega.
"Sorry I'm late" a deep voice announced as the bench shifted – signalling the arrival of another person. "I did stop to get you a coffee though," Seonghwa stated. With a beaming smile he held a to-go cup out to Hongjoong. His own two pups had already run off to the playground.
With a raised eyebrow Hongjoong cautiously took it.
"It's black with sugar but not as much sugar as I like," Seonghwa indicated. "Just how you like it."
"You know my coffee order?" Hongjoong asked taking a sip of the warm drink.
"How could I forget?" Seonghwa cringed slightly. "You complained regarding my own coffee several times now."
"Yeah well it really was horrible!" Hongjoong gasped.
"That's what you get for drinking my coffee without permission," Seonghwa laughed slightly with ease. Seated with the alpha beside him the omega was already beginning to feel happier after such a busy morning trying to get prepared – this was likely due to the alpha pheromones. The consideration of the pheromones made Seonghwa take a breath of air – testing out the scent. Much to his surprise the omega didn't smell a single taste of burnt eucalyptus. Typically Hongjoong always had a slightly burnt aroma – although not always as overpowering when he recently smoked. However with the burning having completely vanished this led Seonghwa to believe Hongjoong hadn't smoked likely since yesterday. And Seonghwa could only assume that was because they would be spending the day together. "You seem fairly chipper this morning."
Hongjoong laughed around a sip of his coffee. "Chipper. I don't recall ever being referred to as chipper before." Leaning back against the bench he gave a small nod. "I've been sleeping pretty well since Youngseok has adjusted to the apartment. Much quieter I suppose."
"That should be a good thing," Seonghwa stated. However he got a sense from the alpha's scent that it was actually the opposite. The other seemed to be unhappy with the idea of a quieter life.
"Sometimes I guess it's just too quiet" Hongjoong mumbled lightly. "After the pups go to bed I tend to be alone.
Seonghwa glanced towards the alpha with a frown. "I suppose that is true. I often have one of my pack members over in the evenings. We tend to eat meals together. But on the nights without them, I do realize how lonely and dark it can feel."
"I got my own pack of course" Hongjoong insisted. "You met Yunho and Mingi the other day. Then our youngest in Jongho. I just don't see them very often. They're busy with school and work. Plus they don't live in the same apartment building as us. That you've made things easier."
"Ah yes, '' Seonghwa nodded. "I will admit it is easier with Wooyoung, San and Yeosang just above me. That has made things more convenient." He glanced towards Hongjoong, a smile tugging at his lips. "And now I have you beside me."
Hongjoong felt himself blush at that. What could Seonghwa mean by saying something like that? They weren't packed.
As if the elder could read the alphas mind, he stated, "We don't need to pack to be friends."
"We're friends?" Hongjoong wondered.
"I hope we are" Seonghwa frowned slightly. Had he assumed too much into their relationship? The omega thought they had been getting closer. With their late night chats on the balcony and the shared meals. Weren't they friends? "I'd like to be your friend."
Hongjoong felt a small smile tug at his lips. "You want to be friends with me Park Seonghwa?"
"I would, yes," Seonghwa nodded. "I thought we agreed to that before. Same age friends right?"
The alpha chuckled at that. "I didn't think you'd remember that conversation," he admitted. "Fine. You're right. We are friends."
Seonghwa beamed. "Good" he gave a little clap. "Now where are those pups of yours?"
Hongjoong rolled his eyes slightly at the playfulness of the omega. "Youngie, Junnie. Come say hello to Hwa!" They both glanced up and spotted the alpha. With joy and a wide smile Youngseok began running towards the omega – Junyoung walked slowly after, but still with a sign of joy. Naturally Minjae and Sumin had come following as well.
Seonghwa spared the alpha a final curious glance before he pushed himself off the bench. A large smile spread across his face. "Youngseok!" He cheered as the pup came running at his legs. With a laugh Seonghwa bent slightly and lifted the pup into the air, spinning in excited little circles. Huffing slightly he set the first pup down once Junyoung had reached the omega. He then repeated the process with the elder, giving him a warm embrace as well.
The alpha had eagerly accepted Minjae's own warmth as he came forwards for a hug. The pup wrapped his arms around Hongjoong's waist tightly. 'Hi puppy" Hongjoong cooed. "How was your morning?"
"Boring" Minjae huffed.
Hongjoong laughed lightly. "Mine was too," he agreed. He glanced at Sumin bending to his knee he asked the pup "can I get a hug Sumin?"
Seonghwa's heart warmed slightly. The alpha was taking time to approach the second pup carefully. Clearly Hongjoong had sensed the pup's nervousness regarding the alpha – and Hongjoong was willing to slow down for him. Since that morning when Sumin had woken up resting on Hongjoong's chest he had been awkward around him, as though sensing that he had done something wrong.
Sumin appeared to contemplate the possibility; his little back was straight and his chin high. For a moment he glanced in Seonghwa's direction, although he was asking permission. Seonghwa gave a sweet nod of encouragement. This gave Sumin the confidence to nod his own head and step forward with his arms outstretched.
Hongjoong wrapped his arms around the boy's small body and happily lifted him into the air. Holding him securely Hongjoong carefully spun with the child. Much to Hongjoong's own enjoyment Sumin let out a low giggle. Slowly Hongjoong lowered him to the ground.
"Who wants to play on the playground?" Hongjoong questioned.
"Me!" all four pups cheered in sync.
Seonghwa gave an excited clap again. "Then let's get playing!" he was here to bond with Hongjoong's pups after all. He better do that. Grabbing Youngseok and Minjae's hands he moved towards the playground. "Where to first?" he questioned.
"The slide" Minjae pointed to the tall slide. "Please?"
"Oh" Seonghwa eyed it. "I don't know puppies" he hesitated. "It's a little tall. Maybe something smaller?"
Youngseok let out a whine. "Please Hwa?" he begged. "Appa lets me!"
Seonghwa found himself sighing. Who was he to question what Hongjoong did and didn't allow his pups to do? But again, it was pretty tall... and he didn't like heights. "I don't know puppy..."
"I can take them," Hongjoong offered coming up beside him. "I'll take Minjae and Youngseok down the slide a couple times if you hang with Junyoung and Sumin?" he nodded to the youngest pup that was holding his hand.
The omega was there to spend time with both pups after all. That included Junyoung. If Hongjoong wanted to take Minjae and Youngseok down the slide, who was he to stop him? ''Yeah sure" Seonghwa nodded. He bent down to Sumin and Junyoung. It found it adorable the way his youngest pup had attached himself to Hongjoong's eldest. "What do you two want to do?"
"Flowers?" Sumin questioned.
"You want to pick flowers?" Seonghwa raised an eyebrow.
"Yes please eomma" Sumin answered.
Seonghwa gave a small nod. He glanced at Junyoung. "Junnie, would you like to pick flowers as well?" he wondered. "If not we can do something else you both will like."
"Sure" Junyoung gave a small shrug with a smile. "I'm fine with flowers."
Taking hold of each of the pups' hands Seonghwa guided them over to the nearby garden area. There were several wild flowers growing. Although most had died off after the passing of summer, there were still some to select from. Seonghwa took a seat and began to pick, not caring that his jeans were certainly getting dirty.
Sumin quickly busied himself moving back and forth between the flowers. The youngest had grabbed at nearly every flower he passed. Junyoung however responded much calmer. He had moved slowly, between the plants. He inspected each flower carefully, picking some but leaving most untouched.
Seonghwa was watching the two, with his gaze occasionally shifting to the other pups with Hongjoong. The alpha was moving up and down the playground with the ease and excitement of a child. He had gone down the slide with the pups and held them on his shoulders to go across the monkey bars. Seonghwa felt himself smiling at the thought of how they were sharing the activities. It wasn't easy to interact with both Minjae and Sumin at the park when they had two different interests. Minjae was go and do, but Sumin preferred a slower pace. It was nice knowing both got what they wanted today.
"What are you doing?" Junyoung questioned sitting down beside the omega.
"Hmm?" Seonghwa questioned. He tore his gaze away from the alpha in favour of looking at Junyoung.
"The flowers" Junyoung pointed to the flowers in Seonghwa's hands. "What are you making?"
"A flower crown" Seonghwa's nibble fingers spun the stems together. He wasn't one for crafts and he certainly wasn't like Hongjoong. But his eomma had taught him as a child how to make them, and it was the one thing that stuck with him.
"It's pretty," Junyoung stated.
"Would you like to make one?" Seonghwa asked.
"Can you teach me?" Junyoung wondered.
"I can," the omega nodded with a smile.
"Yes please" Junyoung smiled in return.
"Me too!" Sumin came towards the two and settled himself into Seonghwa's lap with a content sigh.
The omega groaned slightly at the sudden added weight, but adjusted the way he was seated to accommodate. "Okay" he nodded and began showing the two pups how to twirl the stems together so that they would be bound. The process was slow moving; it took several attempts before Junyoung could get the hang of it. But Seonghwa had never grown frustrated or given up on teaching. He took all the time Junyoung needed. Sumin however required some hand over hand.
Seonghwa's attention was resting on the two pups with him. He had trusted Hongjoong to keep Minjae and Youngseok safe so that he hadn't felt the need to continue checking on them. Rather than giving quick glances in their direction he engaged with Junyoung and Sumin instead. Picking a couple more flowers he handed them over to Sumin.
"Eomma!" Sumin beamed holding up the completed, although messy flower crown. It had bright yellow flowers weaved into it and floppy green leaves that had seen better days. But Sumin was extremely proud of it. "Look."
"It's an amazing puppy," Seonghwa cooed. He reached forward to softly touch one of the petals. "Beautiful."
"What about mine?" Junyoung held his out on display as well.
The elder boys were a little tighter and the flowers had been picked carefully to ensure they were the best options. Seonghwa gazed at the boy with a sweet smile. "It is beautiful Junnie," Seonghwa answered fondly.
Maybe Seonghwa should've paid more attention to Hongjoong and the pups. Two could be a lot to handle, and they were both only three. He should've suspected something like this.
"Ah!" a high pitched scream sounded, followed by a thud.
Seonghwa's head snapped up. He instantly locked eyes with Hongjoong that was standing on the top of one of the jungle gyms. Youngseok was at the bottom of the slide sat in a slump. The alpha began climbing down the staircase to reach the crying pup. Seonghwa jumped up from his seat on the ground. "Watch him" Seonghwa directed to Junyoung with a point to Sumin.
With a few quick strides he reached Youngseok around the same time as Hongjoong. "What happened?" he looked at the alpha.
"He was just going down the slide," Hongjoong answered a little too quickly. He reached for his pup and wrapped his arms around him comfortably. "And landed badly." His hand moved up and down his back. "It's okay puppy," he whispered. "Appa is right here."
"What hurts a puppy?" Seonghwa reached forward to crease the little one's cheek and wipe the tears away in the process.
Youngseok let out a little whimper as more tears flowed.
"Please tell me what hurts" Hongjoong encouraged. "Appa wants to help you but I need to know what's wrong."
"My knee," Youngseok whimpered.
"Let's get you to the bench and we can take a look," Seonghwa suggested.
Youngseok nodded and wrapped his arms tightly around his appa's neck.
Hongjoong lifted Youngseok and walked them over to the bench where their items sat. Minjae, who had come down from the playground, followed behind the adults.
Seonghwa knelt down the moment Youngseok was seated. Gently he took hold of his leg and rolled up his pant leg above his knee. There was a slight scrape that was a faded red. It wasn't terribly bad, nothing that a band-aid would solve.
"It's okay Young" Hongjoong said taking a seat beside his son and looking at the scrape.
"Ah we can fix this right up for you" Seonghwa patted Youngseok's leg gently with a warm smile. "I see the dye still hasn't washed away," he teased lightly with a glance at the purple marks still lingering, completely unaware of the wandering gazes. Reaching for his bag he began digging around in it.
"What are you looking for?" Hongjoong questioned, running his fingers through his pups hair. He glanced towards Junyoung and Sumin that had been patiently waiting near the flowers. He waved them over so that they could join him.
"This" Seonghwa pulled out a band-aid. Grabbing at his water bottle he carefully wet the tissue. He wished he had something better, but at least he could clean the cut. "It might sting a little but we need to clean it."
Hongjoong held onto Youngseok ''Hwa is going to take care of you" he promised his pup.
With a gentle smile Seonghwa wiped at the scrape. He washed away the blood that had quickly dried and removed any dirt that had gotten into it. "That's good," he cooed. Peeling open the band-aid he pressed it into his knee. "Look at that" he beamed up at the little pup. "The scrape is all gone."
"Kiss it better?" it was Minjae that questioned from his spot standing beside Seonghwa. He had always been raised that an eomma's kiss could heal any cut or bruise. "Eomma's kisses."
Seonghwa flashed a warm glance at his pup. "Yeah eomma will kiss the cut better," he promised with a firm nod. Leaning forward he pressed a gentle kiss to Youngseok's knee. "It's all better now."
Youngseok gave a small smile.
"Do you want to go play again?" Hongjoong asked his son.
Youngseok hesitated, before giving his small head a shake.
Hongjoong glanced nervously at Seonghwa, searching for answers. "We can go home. Maybe he'd like to rest."
"No" Seonghwa gave his head a shake. "He and I can rest here for a couple minutes until he's ready to play again." Seonghwa knew how difficult it could be to balance and share between multiple children. He recognized Youngseok wanting a break but that shouldn't come at disappointing the other three pups. They needed to meet each other halfway. "You should go and play with the others."
Hesitating Hongjoong nibbled his bottom lip. "I don't know, I wouldn't want you..."
"I could do with the break anyways" Seonghwa insisted with a wink. "It'll give me and Youngseok some time to relax."
Taking the hint Hongjoong gave a small nod. He had arranged this entire day with the expectations that Youngseok would get to spend some time with the omega. Why was he taking that opportunity away? Youngseok had calmed down, he was no longer bleeding. Might as well let him rest until he felt like playing again.
"What two playing?" the alpha asked, looking at Minjae.
"Castle" Junyoung answered excitedly. "We made one."
"We're pirates," Sumin added to the conversation.
"Oh" Hongjoong gasped out, he had bent to his knees so he could talk eye to eye with the pups. "Are you two protecting the castle?" he asked with curiosity.
"Nope," Sumin giggled and wiggled slightly where he stood.
"Are you trying to attack it!" Hongjoong widened his mouth in shock as both pups laughed and nodded.
"That's our ship," Junyoung pointed towards the playground.
"Then we better get on board!" Hongjoong cheered, pushing himself into a standing position. "Otherwise the water will pull us away!" the alpha took off into a light jog as he moved towards the jungle gym. Grabbing the rope ladder he began to climb.
"Go" Seonghwa encouraged from where he was kneeling. "You can play. And Minjae goes with them. I'll be here with Youngseok taking a break."
They broke free of each other and ran after Hongjoong to the playground.
Gently the omega rubbed at Youngseok's thigh. He hoped to give some form of comfort. "Feeling better?" he questioned, gazing up at the pup.
Youngseok's eyes were still bright red; with some unshed tears in his eyes. But his head gave a small nod, his hand reaching up to rub at his nose.
"Oh sweetheart" Seonghwa cooed, stroking his thumb across the boy's cheek reassuringly. He rolled down the pant leg and stood. "Come here" he sat on the bench beside the pup and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. "I know falling can be scary. But you got back up and that can be the hardest part! So it showed just how strong and brave you are." His fingers started to play with the boy's hair.
"I'm brave?" Youngseok looked up at the omega.
"You are such a brave puppy, '' Seonghwa smiled. When he was Youngseok's age he knew he couldn't handle half the stuff Youngseok had. He plays with whatever toys he wants regardless of gender norms, he regularly wears skirts, and has adapted to life without his eomma. Hongjoong's pups were strong, just as Seonghwa were. All of them had experiences the omega wished they never had to face.
Youngseok flashed a small smile. He rested against Seonghwa's side, settling in to watch the others play for a little time.
Seonghwa leaned back into the bench and watched as a small smile began to pull at his lips. With a warm gaze the omega watched the four play with a simple ease. The alpha was completely immersed in his telling of a brave pirate, he enthusiastically guided them across the playground to protect their pirate ship.
Sumin was practically hanging off Hongjoong, refusing to leave the alphas' side – to which Hongjoong seemed pretty proud of. He carefully, with a large smile, guided Sumin alongside him. Junyoung hung a little back more, however he often contributed to the story the four were quickly forming. Minjae was guiding the entire show with his loud opinions and input.
Much to Seonghwa's surprise as families began arriving at the playground more pups had happily joined in with the group of pirates. Seonghwa leaned forward slightly with a stunned gaze as he noted Hongjoong instructing the pups to take turns down the slide – supposedly to take a quick cooling swim in the ocean before climbing aboard the ship again.
Hongjoong must have sensed the omega's gaze on him as he snapped his head up. A large smile peeled across his lips and he gave a wave to the omega. Nibbling lightly on his bottom lip, Seonghwa considered ignoring the greeting. However he soon raised his hand and gave a small wave in return.
"Oh so you must be his mate" a feminine voice started from the nearest bench to Seonghwa. Turning his head slightly Seonghwa gazed at the two female omegas that were hunched seated together. They were both older than him – likely late thirties – one with natural black hair to her shoulders and the other with long platinum blonde. Based on how comfortable they looked they must have been there for some time.
Youngseok shifted slightly closer to Seonghwa, having heard the voices of strangers.
"Oh" Seonghwa straightened his back slightly and gave a firm shake of his head. "We aren't mates," he answered with ease.
"You aren't mates?" the woman with the black hair asked with a stunned light voice. "But he behaves so well with your pups. I had assumed the three following him so closely must be his. I can't imagine trusting my own pup with someone that wasn't my mate." She nodded towards Youngseok questioning.
Seonghwa's eyes widened slightly and in that moment he was rendered speechless. He had a sense that he was being insulted or had his parenting skills questioned. However it hadn't outright been said. He always disliked when other eomma's would state such sentences. They would give their opinion on such matters – like not trusting their pups with another wolf – in a way to imply that Seonghwa had done something wrong in doing so.
"Oh now relax" the blonde laughed light heartedly. She reached over and patted her companion on the knee lightly. "Perhaps they are set to be mates shortly. Sometimes these mating ceremonies can be delayed. That would easily explain the closeness of the pups with the alpha."
The two women had gone on to discuss Seonghwa as though he wasn't even there.
"I suppose you are right," the first woman stated. "Besides he could still be their appa. Although I personally have never been a big fan of that – delaying a mating ceremony only to conceive pups before it is conducted."
"And four of them at that" there was a nod of agreement.
"One can be a mistake but four?" she shook her head. "That must be planned."
"He's not the pups appa, at least for two of them" Seonghwa answered, his temper was beginning to get the better of him. "Nor do we intend to be mates. We are friends. Our pups are friends."
"You must have a mate at home then" Blondie started with a warm smile, "or at least their appa is awaiting your return."
"I do not have a mate. '' Seonghwa's defence was beginning to act up. He forced himself to sit straighter on the bench, his gaze burned into the two women. The omega did not take kindly to accusations or comments that he required a mate within his life. It was one of the many reasons that he didn't socialize with other eomma's. He found them to be far too judgmental for the omegas liking. Wolves were supporters of mates. Many believe that they are a requirement to live a content life.
The omega rubbed at Youngseok's arm soothingly, hoping that it might distract him. He would've preferred the pup wasn't around for the conversation, but he felt a need to defend himself.
"As for their appa, they don't have one" Seonghwa started with a strong voice. "They have me. I may be an omega, but I act in the role of eomma and appa. Anything they need I will find a way to provide. I do not – nor do the pups – require an appa around purely for the sake of supposed mating happiness."
"Ah I see" the black haired omega started with a small nod. "You're one of those omegas. The kind that believes they are superior to alphas. Whom believe they do not require one for true happiness."
"You may say that now, but that is only because you do not know the feeling of living a life with a mate," the blonde added. "If you were to have a mate you'd know what it truly meant. You might consider yourself happy and content at this moment – but eventually your wolf will begin to reject you should you fail to find a mate."
"You won't be getting any younger," the first added again. "If I was you I'd claim that young man of yours. At least he will tolerate having another alpha's pups around. And he has two of his own. He likely has a need for you."
The conversation had grown so heated that Seonghwa had easily failed to notice that his scent was quickly spiking. The fresh orange aroma that Seonghwa usually resonated had turned sour – almost as though it was overripe fruit. And it was beginning to make Youngseok light headed. However across the playground Hongjoong had noticed the change.
"Excuse me ladies" Hongjoong interrupted approaching the bench. Seonghwa jumped back slightly in surprise, he was so focused on the omega women the hadn't noticed the alpha approach. The alpha bowed his head out of politeness. Glancing at Seonghwa he addressed the male. "We need a queen of the castle to rescue." He held out his hand for Seonghwa to take.
The woman started to chatter beside each other, whispering about Hongjoong.
"Yes, an unmated alpha."
"Just as we suspected."
"And he has pups."
"That's inexcusable."
"Exactly. If he was willing to have unprotected sex than he needed to me willing to mate."
"Now he's raising them alone."
"And he still isn't mated to his omega friend?"
"It would be so convenient."
"It's like fate."
"You need both an alpha and omega for a proper family."
"It would be best for the pups."
"Yes, think about your pups."
With slightly wide eyes Seonghwa gazed at him. "Me?" he asked in a low voice. Nonetheless he reached forward and accepted the hand.
Hongjoong assisted Seonghwa to his feet with a large smile. Gently, in a low voice, he spoke "there is no one else I'd rather rescue." He helped Youngseok up from the bench. "Let's go play with your brothers," he instructed. From the edge of the bench he grabbed at the flower crown Seonghwa had made earlier. He lifted it to Seonghwa's head. "Now you look the part."
The alpha glanced in the women's directions and made it clear he had heard their earlier mumbles. "Oh and just for the record, if any alpha denies an omega based purely on the fact they are already an eomma, then they are not a true alpha. And I, am a true alpha." Spinning on his heels Hongjoong guided Seonghwa to the sand pit, where the hand made castle stood. The alpha clenched the omegas hand the entire time causing Seonghwa to notice the force Hongjoong used to hold it. It was almost as though Hongjoong was afraid to let go. With a sigh Hongjoong stepped back once they reached the castle. The alpha opened his mouth to speak, but quickly thought the better of it as he closed it once again.
"Appa!" Junyoung called out from the jungle gym. The pup waved his hand excitedly to call the alpha back over.
"Just" Hongjoong eventually said in a low weak sounding voice, "just stay here." Hongjoong gave Seonghwa a final glance before leaving the omega standing within his castle alone.
Seonghwa nibbled his bottom lip slightly. Taking a seat on the edge of the sandpit he noticed the array of sand toys. Grabbing at a shovel and bucket he began to fill it with sand. If this was set to be his castle, he might as well make it a little more royal.
"He is so sweet" his internal omega chose that moment to make a comment. "Look with pups. He is good with pups."
Seonghwa had to agree. The alpha was surprisingly really good with the pups. Sumin and Minjae appeared to hang on to every word the alpha spoke. Plus the way Hongjoong's own pups seemed so in love with him. What Seonghwa had found most interesting was the way that Sumin had been drawn to the alpha.
"He makes a good mate," the wolf said again. "Lets mate him. Mate and pups. Have more pups."
The omega quickly shook the thought away, easily denying the wolf's request. Seonghwa had considered once in his life that he'd like to have several pups running around – he loved the idea of a large family. However he had pushed those thoughts away long ago – along with the idea of getting a mate. Park Seonghwa was happily single – and it was going to stay that way.
Hongjoong had returned to being fully engrossed with the pups. Sumin had latched back to his side and was holding onto Hongjoong's pant leg as he guided the pups slowly across the playground. Youngseok and Minjae were now moving around hand in hand. It was as though Minjae was purposely helping Youngseok. "We need to save the queen!" Hongjoong called out the group of about eight pups. Hongjoong pointed excitedly towards Seonghwa. "We must get to the edge of our ship!"
The omega laughed lightly as he caught the eye of the alpha. With a small smile on his lips Seonghwa finished up with his sand castle.
The pirates moved forward to the edge of the 'boat' and came down the slide. With twists and turns and giggles, the pups had swum through the ocean to reach the queen. Hongjoong followed after them – his own deep laugher joining the group.
"Joong!" Minjae cheered "the queen." Minjae had come up to his eomma and latched his hand onto Seonghwa. Smiling, he leaned his little face against Seonghwa's jean pant leg.
"We got the queen," Youngseok added with a smile of his own. He wrapped his small arms around the omega's leg. His own big round eyes gazed happily at the approaching alpha.
"You saved the queen" Hongjoong states joining the group of excited pups. With a wink in Seonghwa's direction he pushed his leg back and went down into a prince like bow. "My queen, I am but a lonely pirate. I have come to rescue you should you require it."
Seonghwa giggled lightly. Playfully he gave a dramatic gasp. "Oh my! I am so thankful to have such strong pirates come and save me! I have been stuck here all alone for so long! Try as I might, I am a weak omega and have been unable to get free. I am so thankful to have brave and strong alphas like you." Seonghwa had turned his gaze away from Hongjoong, instead choosing to speak the words to his pups. Lightly he tugged them closer for another squeeze.
Minjae smiled up at his eomma before glancing in Hongjoong's direction. "Back to ship!" he cheered. Letting go of his eomma the pup began to move towards the playground, Youngseok was following close behind.
A small mischievous smile tugged at Hongjoong's lips. Seonghwa had taken a confused step back with a raised eyebrow. He was about to ask the alpha what it was he was planning – however the question was quickly answered. Hongjoong reached forward and swiftly lifted Seonghwa into his arms bridal style. The omega released a deep gasp of shock as his arms slid around Hongjoong's neck by impulse. "W-what are you doing?" Seonghwa stuttered out.
"Rescuing you of course" Hongjoong said with a cheeky smile. The alpha held the small male closer to his chest as he began moving across to the playground. That was the entire alpha was willing to say on the matter as he carried the omega up the small plastic staircase to board the ship. With the omega so close to his face, the alpha was able to make out the sweet strawberry scent. It was a reminder that summer would soon be dawning.
Much to Hongjoong's surprise Seonghwa hadn't fought against the hold – at least not as much as Hongjoong would've suspected. Hongjoong knew he was likely crossing a line when he lifted the omega into his arms – carrying an omega in such a form in some circles would be considered a courting method. However Hongjoong was living happily in the moment.
Gently Hongjoong set the omega down on his feet, but rather than stepping away Hongjoong reached his arms around the omega and grasped onto the metal railing. This successfully led to Seonghwa being pinned back against the bars. If Hongjoong were to take another step they'd likely be chest to chest. Lightly the alpha gave a low sniff, checking to see if there had been even a slight change in the omega's scent. However as far as the alpha could tell the omega remained calm and open to the actions.
"I could've rescued myself," Seonghwa breathed out lightly. The omega was glancing upwards to lock eyes with the alpha. He stood his ground with a straight back and a small smile on his lips. The wind lightly blew, brushing Seonghwa's white blocks across his forehead – as well as increasing the soft berry aroma.
A small smile began to tug at Hongjoong's lips. The slight worry Hongjoong felt that he had possibly overstepped began to fade. Taking that final step forward his own chest pushed against Seonghwa. "I know you could've" Hongjoong's voice was low as he answered.
Softly Seonghwa took a breath in and found that he was quickly engulfed in the melted chocolate. Deep in his lungs the scent swirled around. Seonghwa had never thought he'd consider an alpha's scent to be warm and welcoming – typically he'd be turned off by the aroma of an alpha male – however that wasn't the case in regards to Hongjoong. The eucalyptus was familiarity and comfort.
Hongjoong glanced down Seonghwa, breathing in the omegas' own strawberries. Oranges had always been the alphas favourite fruit right? At that moment he felt like he was walking through a fresh orange orchard.
" Omega" his internal wolf whispered, "kiss omega."
And Hongjoong wanted to do just that.
Carefully, ever so cautiously Hongjoong bent his neck downwards. Pressing his body closer to Seonghwa – earning a small gasp from the omega – he locked eyes. The scent of oranges turned to nervous touch – however the omega still didn't pull away. Nor did he appear to wish to stop Hongjoong. In fact the omega lifted his chin upwards to better face the alpha.
Leaning forward Hongjoong was a mere couple centimetre from Seonghwa's lips. He could feel the omega's warm breath. He sensed the beating heart. Hongjoong tightened his grip on the metal railing, his knuckles turning white. Now he was only a centimetre away. They were so close to touching but –
"Are we interrupting something?" a strong male voice sounded from the ground beneath the playground.
Hongjoong had never jumped back so quickly as he did at that moment. He pushed himself away from the railing – releasing Seonghwa from his cage. A slight blush began to form on Hongjoong's cheeks and he couldn't remember the last time he had ever blushed. He had never intended to pin Seonghwa up against the playground railing – especially not in public where people were constantly watching. The alpha was in a public setting, with children present. He should've had more control over his pheromones.
"Yunho" Hongjoong breathed out lightly.
Seonghwa pushed himself away from the playground. Running a hand through his hair Hongjoong could tell the omega was trying to entertain him and seem busy.
"You're early."
"We thought we'd treat you all to lunch" Mingi started with a wide smile. He held up a woven picnic basket. "We bought your favourites."
Seonghwa chuckled softly. "Does your pack have something against cooking?" he teased.
"Nothing against it" Hongjoong shrugged. "We just all suck at it."
The omega nodded and looked at the two curiously.
"Ah" Hongjoong stated in realization. "Let me introduce you.' He rested a hand low on Seonghwa's back as he guided him closer to the other two men. "These are my pack members. Yunho" he pointed to the alpha. "And Mingi" a nod to the beta.
"It's a pleasure to meet you" Seonghwa bowed slightly in greeting.
Hongjoong smiled softly. "And this is my friend Seonghwa. So please be nice to him. I don't want you to scare him away."
"Us?" Mingi scoffed. "Be nice? When are we anything but nice?"
"Well there was that time-"
"Uncle Mingi! Uncle Yunho!" The two pups called from somewhere on the playground. Quickly both came running from the slide and ran into the two wolves legs. Laughing happily each of the uncles lifted one of the pups into their arms.
"Oh gosh you're getting too heavy," Yunho teased Junyoung on his hip.
"Look what we brought," Mingi said, balancing Youngseok on one hip. With his free hand he held up the basket of food. "We are going to have a picnic. You still have time before work right Hongjoong hyung?"
Hongjoong gave a nod. "Yeah I got an hour."
"Perfect!" Mingi beamed.
"We better get going," Seonghwa smiled softly and waved his pups over.
"What?" Yunho frowned slightly.
Hongjoong turned to Seonghwa with a matching look of confusion.
However the frown quickly left the beta face. "Oh I get it! You misunderstood" Mingi was soon laughing lightly. Setting Youngseok down he patted the top of the basket. "You're joining us for lunch too."
Mingi hadn't worded it as a question. He didn't ask if Seonghwa wanted to join, but rather he told him.
"I am?" Seonghwa's eyebrows furrowed slightly, taken aback by the statement.
"You are," Mingi confirmed with a nod. "Come on pups" he cheered to the two pups that were now firmly set on the ground. "Let's go to the picnic table!" joyfully the beta led the pups in the direction of the nearest table – ending all conversation of Seonghwa possibly leaving. Hongjoong glanced over his shoulder at Seonghwa, a warm smile tugging at his lips as he moved to follow them. He was ushering all four pups along with him.
"I would apologize for Mingi's behaviour" Yunho said lightly, "however it wouldn't actually be sincere, as I'm not sorry about the way he acts. It's part of his charm." It was exactly the answer Seonghwa would expect from a loyal and dedicated mate. The alpha turned fully towards Seonghwa and held his hand out "Jeong Yunho."
"Park Seonghwa '' Seonghwa answered. Firmly he took hold of the other alphas outstretched hand and gave it a shake. Now he had met all the members of Hongjoong's pack. They were an interesting mishmash of a group, but somehow he figured that's what made them work best.
Yunho nodded once towards the table that Mingi had taken over and that was all the indication Seonghwa needed to walk over and claim a seat. The beta had been handing plates out filled with food.
Seonghwa quickly found his plate to be filled with various foods. There was barbequed steak, rice, steam veggies and many more options. So this was the regular take out order for Hongjoong? At least he fed his pups some good food – although still would've been better homemade.
The conversation had quickly begun at the table – the pups retelling the fun they had with their parents. Seonghwa joined in the conversation ever so often with a comment of his own or a light laugh. However Hongjoong remained silent for the majority of the topic. He really wasn't one for small talk. He enjoyed watching the way Seonghwa interacted with his pack rather than take over the conversation.
"How has work been going hyung?" Yunho asked Hongjoong. "Have you finally been able to find the right model?"
Hongjoong nearly choked around his chopsticks as he was expecting the question. Seonghwa's eyes widened slightly at Hongjoong's sudden discomfort. Carefully Seonghwa slid a glass of water with his pinkie towards the alpha – as though he didn't want to make the action terribly noticeable. Hongjoong nodded his thanks and took a gulp of the water. Clearly his throat slightly he finally got the answer out. "Ah I'm still working on the designs," he stated.
"Has Eden approved of them yet?" Mingi questioned.
Seonghwa silently listened to the conversation, reaching over absentmindedly to wipe some sauce away from Youngseok's mouth.
"He has in a sense" Hongjoong nodded. "He likes the concept behind it but he would like to see it executed before he fully approves of them. We have several shows coming up that he wants it to be featured at. But I need to find my model first."
"And you haven't had any luck?" Yunho frowned. "Don't you have models at KQ already?"
"We do have several" Hongjoong nodded. "Maddox and HLB being two of them. But one is a beta and the other an alpha. That's not the vision I had in mind."
"Models for what?" Seonghwa asked, joining in the conversation.
"Ah" Hongjoong smiled and turned to him slightly. "I've been working on a new design! My first with EDENARY. So I wanted to showcases the breakage of gender norms, that clothing shouldn't be defined by your sub gender status. Similar to how I wear skirts, even as an alpha. I wanted to take that mentality and put it forward into my designs."
"You want to design a skirt specifically for alphas to wear?" Seonghwa furrowed his eyebrows.
"Well no" Hongjoong shook his head. "Not specifically an alpha. A skirt for anyone and everyone. A completely gender neutral line of clothing. Not a single article is put aside for a specific gender."
"And you need models?" Seonghwa wondered.
"I need primarily an omega model actually" Hongjoong shrugged. "Like I said I have beta and alpha models. They are already signed under EDENARY. But I've been having a hard time finding an omega willing to sign with us..."
"Why is that hyung?" Mingi asked, frowning slightly. "Why wouldn't omegas sign with EDENARY?"
Hongjoong sighed softly. "I used to wonder that too. At first I had assumed omegas simply didn't want to be models, but this was back when I worked with KQ and they had no omega models. But I suppose the more I'm in the industry the more I realize it isn't only KQ but rather the fashion industry in general. It's a world dominated by alphas and pheromones and scent. If you are not of the dominating gender they likely will not hire you."
"So the industry just doesn't hire omegas," Mingi scoffed.
"Pretty much" Hongjoong nodded. "As far as I have seen they stick primarily to alpha models – actually I think its employees in general. I don't recall the last time I ever saw an omega around – only the occasional beta."
"God" Seonghwa mumbled under his breath and rolled his eyes slightly. "I hate people like that. People that believe they are better simply due to their sub gender. All people should be treated equally. How can you judge a person purely on their sub gender? Just because I'm an omega doesn't mean I can't model just as good – if not better – than many alphas."
"I agree with you" Hongjoong stated as he glanced in Seonghwa direction.
"You do?" Seonghwa asked with a surprised sounding voice.
"I do" Hongjoong nodded firmly. "It isn't fair for a company – for individuals in general – to judge others because they are an omega or alpha or beta. Everyone should have the right to apply for any position of employment. But unfortunately the fashion industry is built on the backs and blood of alphas. And it isn't just KQ that holds those views. Omegas are below them. They don't have the skills to be in the spotlight. They lack stamina supposedly, strength for the long work hours. Then their looks come into question. Omegas are considered cute. Whereas alphas are seen as sexy, and sexy is what sells."
"I'm an omega," Seonghwa said firmly, "but that doesn't mean I'm not sexy."
"I know that, '' Hongjoong answered back. He forced his eyes to remain locked with Seonghwa rather than gazing over his body – like he was so tempted to.
"Good" Seonghwa replied to the alpha with a force of tension built up between the two wolves.
Mingi cleared his throat lightly, forcing the two to break eye contact. The eldest didn't say anything; rather he lifted a curious eyebrow in Seonghwa's direction – clearly asking an unspoken question.
Awkwardly Hongjoong shifted in his seat. He had a feeling the silence fell because of something he had said or his behaviour. "Anyways I'm looking for an omega model for my fashion line. But most have turned me down. The industry has so tightly instilled in them that they can't be models or that companies don't support them, it seems suspicious for me to suddenly reach out to them. Which I can understand. I probably wouldn't trust the random alpha calling to hire you for a major runway show. It does seem suspicious. They don't know me and I don't know them. I could be planning their downfall."
"And that isn't the case?" Seonghwa questioned.
"Far from it" Hongjoong insisted. "I want to do the very opposite in fact. I want this to be an opportunity to showcase omegas into the industry. Help them to break through. Display how they can model and wear whatever clothes they want. I know my vision might not make sense to everyone yet, and society might not fully support it at first. But I do have ideas; I know how to execute this positively. I just need the models to support it. I need those willing to step out of their comfort zone."
"Why not Seonghwa hyung?" Mingi asked. He glanced quickly at the omega. "I can call you hyung right?"
"Uh yeah sure" Seonghwa answered awkwardly, feeling a blush come at his face.
"So why don't hyung model for you?" Mingi offered. "He's an omega after all." The way he had cut into the conversation certainly decreased one difficult discussion that was growing in heat, but started another one.
"I'm not a model" Seonghwa waved the comment away.
"Well..." Hongjoong risked a sideways glance at the omega.
"Well what?" Seonghwa furrowed his eyebrows. "I'm not a model."
"No" Hongjoong nodded slowly. "But you did attend university for acting. You will have the knowledge of facial expressions and posing. You probably have the patience for the industry."
"And you're not bad to look at hyung" Mingi added. When Yunho cleared his throat Mingi simply ignored him. "You're hot. Who wouldn't want you to model their clothing?"
"Mingi is right" Hongjoong shrugged one shoulder. "You do look stunning. And the clothing I've been designing will fit you perfectly style wise. I got some black leather pants and these velvet dress shirts that will look great on you. Actually I really can envision it. It's almost like I made it specifically for you."
"But I..." Seonghwa nibbled on his bottom lip. "But I'm an omega."
"That's exactly the point" Hongjoong smiled softly. He shifted in his seat so that he was closer to Seonghwa. Resting his hand on the elder's chin he turned his face so their gazes locked together. Completely inside their private bubble it was like Mingi and Yunho weren't they're watching the entire scene. "You're an omega. I need an omega to model my clothes. You recognize the stigma omegas face; you are aware how unfair it is. So why not be part of the change?"
"Because I..." the omega trailed off.
"Don't allow what Woobin has said to you to affect the way you lead your life" Hongjoong insisted. "That alpha was a jerk and he has convinced you that you cannot achieve your dreams. Do not allow him to dictate how you live your life today. He has no power over you."
"Who's Woobin?" Mingi whispered.
"Hush" Yunho warned.
"I suppose he doesn't," Seonghwa said in a small voice.
"Besides" Hongjoong reached up and tucked a stray piece of hair behind Seonghwa's ear. "Imagine his face when he sees your photographs plastered on billboards and on magazine covers."
"It's just one fashion line" Seonghwa blushed. "I won't be in magazines."
'Don't underestimate my designs Seonghwa" Hongjoong smirked slightly. "I have what it takes to go very far in this industry. And I need an omega like you by my side."
"An omega like me or me?" Seonghwa's voice was a little lighter as he responded.
Hongjoong chuckled softly, his hand moving along the side of Seonghwa's cheek. "You."
Seonghwa smiled. "I'll think about it," he promised. "I'm not saying yes, but it's not known either."
"That's all I ask" Hongjoong nodded. "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Kicking his leg around Hongjoong climbed off the bench seat. "I should probably get going," he stated. "I have some work to take care of," he added. "They'll be expecting me at the studio any minute to work on my designs. I think HLB is coming by for a fitting today." He glanced at Seonghwa. "Are you okay here? I don't want it to seem like I'm leaving you with my pack."
Seonghwa smiled, glancing at Mingi and Yunho across the table. Although he had only known them for an hour, he had grown to like them. They seemed warm and welcoming. He felt similar to them the way he did about his own pack. "It's fine. Maybe we can hang around and the pups can play a little more."
"Oh that'll be fun," Yunho nodded. "We don't have any plans so we can stay with the pups a little longer if they want."
Seonghwa nodded in agreement and stood from the table as well. "I'll text you about hanging out again," Seonghwa said softly. "Maybe sometime later this week."
Hongjoong nodded "yeah that'll sound good. We could just hang out at the apartments if you'd prefer. Or maybe we can go for a walk. The apple blossoms should start blooming soon." Instantly Hongjoong regretted the words he spoke. The apple blooms were a couple activities – that wasn't something you do with pups. What the hell was he thinking?
However Seonghwa didn't seem to mind the offer, rather he nodded happily with a small smile. "That sounds like fun. We can talk more soon" he helped the pups get out of their seats. "Say goodbye to Joong."
"We see him soon?" Sumin asked, glancing at his eomma with big round eyes, staying where he stood. The small pup had already grown so attached to Hongjoong – and Hongjoong honestly felt the same way.
"Of course you will" Hongjoong answered instead. He knelt down to his knee and smiled at the pup. "We will play another game soon" he promised. Holding his arms out towards the pup the alpha happily asked, "Can I get a hug before I go?"
Sumin nodded without hesitation and stepped forward into the alphas outstretched arms. He snuggled into the man's right side of the body, fitting just perfectly. Minjae hung back a little, but when Hongjoong reached towards him with his left arm Minnie stepped forward as well. The two pups cuddled into the alphas side, nuzzling against his body.
Softly Sumin began to nuzzle at Hongjoong's neck, sighing happily in relief. "Pretty scent," he breathed out happily.
"Yeah?" Hongjoong answered bowing his head and giving the little boys cheek a light rub. It was a quick and soft scenting, but it was enough for Hongjoong to take on the gentle milky aroma. Leaning over he proceeded to complete the same action with Minjae, breathing in the second pup's vanilla scent as well.
Smiling gently Hongjoong released the pups and stepped back "alright, you two behave for your eomma" he warned the pups lightly. "I'll see you around" he nodded in Seonghwa's direction. "If you need anything just let me know. I'm literally one door away."
Seonghwa chuckled softly, "I'll see you on our balcony later tonight" he promised.
Hongjoong nodded and moved around the table to his own pups. He lifted both Youngseok and Junyoung up from the table and gave them a big spinning hug. "And you two" he warned. "You better be good for uncle Mingi and uncle Yunho."
"We're always good," Junyoung insisted.
This only earned a laugh from the appa. "I'll believe it when I see It." He planted a kiss on each pup's cheek and set him or her down. "I'll be home before you know It." he glanced at Seonghwa and flashed one more smile before walking away.
"What was with that look?" Mingi whispered, watching the way Seonghwa gazed after Hongjoong.
"Mingi hush" Yunho stated.
"But Yunho."
"Hush."
