Chapter 1: First Investigation

[Carlos Ortiz's House. 11:21pm]

Blue and red lights illuminated the dark street. Police cars were circling every corner of the neighborhood; yellow holographic line prevented anyone from trespassing. Although no civilians were allowed, a black car parked in, bringing Dr.(L/n), Lt.Anderson and Connor to their destination. In Spite of Hank's objection to not bring Connor along, (Y/n) insisted that "He's a negotiator, he can transport evidence to a forensic laboratory in mere seconds."

Nonetheless, Lieutenant would only clamor about it - "Listen, I don't give a fuck about his instructions. If he's going - you'll be responsible for babysitting him."

"Whatever you say, old man. As long as it keeps you sober." With that being said, the trio finally stepped into the Crime Scene: Carlos Ortiz's house, in which he died in. Hank beelined to various police officers, checking for any current information. Meanwhile, Connor stood his ground, turning to thank Dr.(L/n) for backing him up, only to see (Y/n) skedaddling into a different direction and investigating - Perhaps, Lady (Y/n) was more of a diligent person. He took a note to thank her later.

For a while, the trio was busy - each of them inspecting the clues in the house until Anderson turned around only to see Connor kneeling on the floor, licking blood: "Jesus! What the hell are you doing?"

"I'm analyzing the blood." - Connor replied carefully, apologizing for his cumbersome action. Obviously, Hank only waved him off, telling him not to put more evidence in his mouth, nudging at (Y/n)'s elbow, so she'll deal with the robot alone.

Sighing, Dr.(L/n) approached Connor, kneeling beside him - "Alright, since you're a prototype RK800 made specifically for crime scene investigation and negotiation - Let's see what you can do."

Connor faced her, his moves are ineloquent and stagnant. He knew (Y/n)'s an engineer from CyberLife, so he felt responsible for making a great first impression on his work in front of an exemplary person such as her: "I've analyzed the dried blood of Carlos Ortiz, the victim was attacked over 19 days ago."

"And the weapon?"

"There are no fingerprints on the used weapon." Connor responded, keeping his voice soft and undemanding to her "-possible for android involvement."

For a moment, (Y/n) kept her gaze unbroken on the robot, before she looked down and pulled out her tablet: "Ortiz has a record for theft and aggravated assault. He's a loner, but his neighbors reported seeing him owning an Android... And yet, the Baseball bat lying in the kitchen has Ortiz's fingerprints. That leads us with an armed human and an armed android in the kitchen."

(Y/n) and Connor turned their focus on the kitchen "There are traces of thirium - The victim had a violent impact on the android."

"The victim attacked the Deviant Android," - (Y/n) said.

"But the deviant defended itself with a knife out of emotional shock." - Connor added.

And thus, it seems that the duo completed reconstructing the action that happened in this house. Connor's LED flickered; he anticipated a word approval, but instead, (Y/n) stood still with her arms crossed. She was skeptical, but once a smile appeared on her face, Connor's software stability was valid: "Marvelous Job, Connor. Keep examining the traces of thirium and tell me if you spot anything."

Watching (Y/n)'s figure walk back into the hallway with a smile, Connor hoped he impressed her. "Yes, Dr. (L/n)."

(Y/N)(L/n)

The Lady walked into the hallway, further investigating rooms. The decaying stench made her cringe before holding her breath. Perhaps, no more evidence was reliable for the case, but (Y/n) did notice packets of Red Ice - a synthetic stimulant-like narcotic that ravishes Detroit these days. But what horrified (Y/n)(L/n) even more were the obsessive writing in the bathroom: Ra9.

She clenched her teeth - she knew what 'Ra9' stood for.

The cultic offering around the bathroom tiles was obviously arranged by a machine, but that didn't stop (Y/n). She saw small traces of blue-blood, almost faded, indicating that the Deviant might have run somewhere further - into the attic. Stumbling on a plastic chair, (Y/n) held her balance she climbed the dusty attic. It was dark and full of squiquing furniture - perhaps, she should call Connor for helpin-

A dark figure ran past. (Y/n) stood silent, her heart now hammering out of shock. Could it be that the android was in here all along? Gulping out of tension, Dr.(L/n) had no choice but to investigate the moving figure that tried to hide - And so It appeared. A tall android stopped dead in his tracks once he saw the Human Lady in front of him.

"Hey... calm down." - (Y/n)'s eyes widen. Instantly, she recognized the model as HK400 - his code smudge by dry blood. She noticed how the Android's chocolate skin was now pale and ashen, his biocomponents were undeniably damaged.

"Please... I was just defending myself. He was going to kill me." - The male android pleaded. He was scared of (Y/n), knowing she might give him in - "I'm begging you don't tell them."

(Eye-color) eyes traveled on HK400 searching for any weapon in his hands, but luckily there were none. (Y/n)'s mouth was agape, but a familiar voice of another Android was heard down - "Dr. (L/n)?"

(L/n) realized it's Connor calling for her, which caused the deviant to panic only more - "Please... Don't kill me."

"Shh, I'm not going to hurt you, HK400. Just don't move." - (Y/n) kept her arms in front of her, as a sign of reassurance. The android was in critical condition, as hid LED shone with yellow and red lights. (Y/n) knew what she had to do - "Connor! I located the Deviant."

[Observation room. 12:41 am]

"HK400 model - Housekeeper. It seems the victim didn't bother giving him an actual name. It is evident that Ortiz used to abuse him pretty regularly and even burn cigarettes on his skin for over 16 months - as it would explain his biocomponents being highly damaged, A Non-critical damage level 2... Pretty expected from a Red Ice user."

As a forensic android engineer, (Y/n) announced accordingly to the group of investigators while waiting outside the Interrogation Room. Miss (L/n), along with Connor, Hanks and other officers, all stood by the Observation Room, inspecting the android suspect behind a one-way mirror.

"We're wasting our time interrogating a machine, we're getting nothing out of it." - one of the detectives, Gavin Reed, groaned. It was late midnight, everyone was tired, but the deviant refused to cooperate or confess. "We 'Could try roughing it up. After all, it's not human..."

(Y/n)(L/n) leaned on the floor, trying to uphold herself from exhaustion, her voice low - "That explains why none of our cases are even remotely close to being solved. You lead the Deviants to self-destruct in stressful situations before we get any information."

"Now you're suddenly all in for questioning it as if it was a living being? Who cares if it's stressed or not - it's an interrogation not a stress-free therapy for machines!"

Gavin just had to open his mouth perusal. Of Course, (Y/n) didn't pay attention to his whines, but she did notice Connor staying close to her, eyeing their conversation: "Dr.(L/n) is correct. Androids don't feel pain, but you can only damage it. That wouldn't make it talk... I could try questioning it."

No One seemed to disregard that idea, except for Detective Reed that laughed at Connor. (Y/n) and Hank exchanged glances: "What do we have to lose?"

Nodding in agreement, Lt.Anderson waved Connor towards the Interrogation room "Go ahead - suspect's all yours."

Just as RK800 was ready to step in, Dr.(L/n) advised him - "The Android's program is increasing in instability - it can trigger... an unpleasant approach. Try to be careful with it, yet be demanding."

"Rest assured, Dr.(L/n). I'll do my absolute best."

Accordingly, Connor began negotiating. Knowing that (Y/n) was watching him from behind the mirror, he tried to stick to her advice: careful and demanding.

Consultation went on between Connor and the HK400. It was on-going and tedious, but as long as Connor keeps the balance on the deviant's stress-meter, then the work is done. For a while, Hank and (Y/n) though that Connor won't get anything out of the robot since they were babbling for a long while - but low and behold, Dr.(L/n)'s personal assistant in investigation finally got the Deviant to speak.

HK400 explained the abuse, confirming everyone's theory that Ortiz, was in fact, a living piece of crap. He spoke of emotions, whirling in his mechanical heart. But what caught (Y/n)'s attention, was when he spoke of ra9. All of them were false hopes - lies. But Dr.(L/n) kept silent.

Connor signaled the end of the interrogation, making police officers storm in and take the android. RK800 was ready to take his leave out of the interrogation room, but once he heard a hassle between Gavin and (L/n) about handling the robot carefully rather than harshly, Connor decided to help (Y/n).

Alas, it was too late, as the HK400 snitched the gun from the nearby police officer and shot himself.

(Taking the best path in Chapter: Interrogation.)

I won't make Connor fall in love with reader in one chapter cuz that's cringy my doods. But don't worry, there'll be various simple moments between the two - not only criminal.
