This Will Help Us

Continuing from the last chapter*

Travis was now passing the two hour mark in the six hour roadtrip back to Tampa from Atlanta.

His little girl fell asleep as soon as they left the parking lot. Music and the headlights from other cars passing on the other side of the highway.

Alot was now going through his head as the text that his wife sent him made him think.

Travis's Mind: "Can we talk? It's about the kids." What does she mean by that? The kids are fine.

He didn't respond to her at this point knowing she was probably in bed since it was two in the morning.

What he didn't know is she was still awake, waiting for a response and staying up to greet her little girl. Becky had no idea where her husband or daughter were and got worried.

She had to call for some back up just to make sure everything was alright.

Travis's phone goes off*

The call came through the bluetooth and stopped the music. The words "Kat" came across as his phone kept ringing, and now he was wondering why she was awake.

Accept*

Travis: Kat? What's up? It's two in the morning.

Katie: Travis! Where are you?

Travis: We're now passing into Florida? Why? You sound worried.

Katie: When you don't text your wife back when she asks where you and her little daughter are, I'd be worried enough to call around and get to you.

Travis: sigh* She really called you this late at night?

Katie: Hey, I don't blame her. You two are still married and her kid is six hours out of state; It's also the middle of the night and you're driving.

Travis: Trust me, I'm fine. I have my coffee and just.. well was listening to my music.

Katie: And Alexis?

He turned around and saw that her head was laying on the pillow he brought her, also tucked into her blanket.

Travis: Looks to be where I left her when we pulled out of the parking lot, fast asleep.

Katie: Ok, good. Now please, do me a favor.

Travis: ...

Katie: Text Becky. Let her know what's going on so she's not freaking out the whole night.

Travis: I guess.

Katie: Love you both. I'm going to bed, goodnight!

Travis: Love you too sis.

They both hung up and he quickly pulled out his phone so he wouldn't have to almost yell to get the bluetooth microphone to work in his truck.

He pulled up the contact Becky❤ and swiped it over as it started to call.

It wasn't long before he overheard the other side pick up.

Becky: Travis!?

Travis: Hey Becks. Sorry I didn't text you letting you know we were on our way back.

Becky: Oh *sighs in relief* it's ok. I was worried since you said you were driving back when you picked her up.

Travis: Yea, we actually just crossed into Florida like ten minutes ago.

Becky: So you'll probably be pulling into Tampa around five?

Travis: Hopefully..

It was then awkwardly silent on the phone as they both weren't saying anything. Travis had to break it.

Travis: Don't worry about staying up. I have a key still, so I can drop her off and tuck her in.

Becky: I'll try and stay up.

Travis: Seriously, you don't have to. I can take it from here.

Becky: O-oh, ok.

Travis: So I'll talk to you later?

Becky: Yea, sure.

Travis: Ok, goodnight Becks.

Becky: Goodnight Trav.

They both hung up and he tossed his phone into the passenger seat with a huge weight off his shoulders. He went into that conversation seeming it was her trying to get him to come back or talk about what she's been trying to for a while.

With Becky*

She put the phone away from her ear and hung up as she had a disappointing face. Becky wanted that conversation to go another way of her seeing him, even if he didn't want to stay she would atleast see the man she loves.

But he insisted that he could take care of their little girl. So Becky finally got up around two thirty in the morning and walked upstairs to their bedroom where she fell asleep with the baby monitor on.

6am rolls around*

An exhausted Travis pulls up into his and Becky's house. It's dark and only the front lights are on, that means everyone is in bed.

As he put the truck in park he turned around to see that his daughter was still sleeping. Luckily for Travis, Alexis had slept the whole ride home except for one bathroom stop.

Travis jumped out of the truck and walked around to the rear passenger door where he opened it and helped unpack Alexis. She wasn't waking up anytime soon so this would be a piece of cake getting her inside. He grabbed her bag, pillow and put the two together on his back while he slowly unbuckled her.

Before he knew it she was in his arms.

He then carried her from his truck to the front door where he fumbled his keys around to find the front door spare. It's been a while since he's had to use that, and it feels weird.

The more he made his way inside the weirder it felt. He hasn't been inside his house since that fateful day and eventually packing everything.

Eventually making it into the kitchen*

He turned on the light and looked around to see that nothing has changed. Becky kept everything the same when he left it.

The house was spotless besides the kids corner of the house as it was littered with toys.

As he was quickly putting stuff down while holding his daughter, he accidentally dropped the bag and it made a loud clicking sound.

That alerted someone in the house.

A dog rounds the corner*

Kilo quickly ran into the kitchen and looked at Travis with a defensive look until he saw that it was him, then his excitement overwhelmed.

The german shepherd quickly ran to one of his owners and was jumping all over him while whining.

Travis: Shh Shh* Calm down buddy.

It didn't help quiet down the excited pup as he kept showing it.

Alexis wasn't fazed by anything going on as Travis quietly walked up the stairs to all the bedrooms.

Upstairs*

He reached the final step and saw Jackson's door was open and he could hear someone moving around in there. Travis quickly felt Alexis move a little too so he got her into her room next to her baby brother's.

When he tucked her in, he kissed her on the forehead and closed the door without latching it.

Then, Travis was out in the hallway with the calmed down pup when he overheard a little voice call out.

Jackson: Dada?

Goosebumps shot up and down his arm after hearing that. He hasn't heard that in a while, and that made him smile.

Of course he couldn't leave his little man hanging so Travis walked into his son's room to see Jackson standing with help of the crib.

Travis: Hi buddy.

Jackson: Duda!

His son reached his arms up and that was the sign for Travis to pick him up, which he did and held him.

When they looked into each others eyes, Jacksons face light up with a huge smile which made his dad laugh a little.

Travis: I miss you little man.

Jackson: ...

Travis: Time's are tough. We'll all get through it.

His son then smiled again and touched his face which made Travis smile again.

Travis: Especially if you and your sister keep smiling.

While he was holding him they both overheard a door open, Kilo then stood up from Travis's feet and walked out of Jackson's bedroom to stop in the hallway and wag his tail.

His eye's then watched Becky turn the corner, still in her pajamas and now quickly jolted a bit.

Becky: Oh! Hey. Did you just get here?

Travis: Yea. We pulled in just ten minutes ago.

Becky: It's six in the morning.

Travis: I'm struggling to stay awake, but I overheard someone call for me.

He then bounced Jackson a little and that made him giggle, which then made both of his parents laugh.

In Travis's mind this was a little awkward between him and Becky, but in Jackson's it was another normal day.

After a little, he put the baby back into his crib and said his goodbyes. Both him and Becky walked out of his room and were standing in the hallway.

Becky: Peaks into Alexis's room* She's out.

Travis: I lost her as soon as we left the parking lot.

That made Becky laugh a little as Travis was ready to leave, but she stopped him.

Becky: Hey, can we talk for a second?

Travis: Uhm, yea. I guess.

They both then walked downstairs and Travis stood as Becky was then making coffee.

Becky: Want some?

Travis: I'm good. That won't help me getting some sleep when I get back to Katie's.

She made enough for two anyways incase he changed his mind. Becky then sat at the counter as Travis bent down and pet his dog a little until she finally spoke up.

Becky: I know we're going through this, but seeing you and Jackson made me happy.

Travis: Of course, love him.

Becky: That's what I wanted to talk to you about.

She then pushed the chair across her at the kitchen counter out and waited for her husband to sit down.

This was a serious issue and wanted to make sure he heard it all.

Becky: I had a feeling about something, but after you picked up Alexis a couple days ago; I noticed something.

Travis: Alright?

Becky: Are you avoiding Jackson?

She came straight out of the gate and threw a punch at his gut with that question.

Travis: Am I avoiding Jackson?

Becky: Yea. It seems like you pick Alexis over him.

His hand caught his head as he sighed and knew what she was talking about.

Travis: deep exhale* Ok, maybe I wasn't doing much with him after what had happened.

Becky: Why?

Travis: Why!? I mean, look what I went through with him. You made me believe I wasn't his father for a while Becks, that made me avoid him a little.

Becky: Oh..

She had no idea how hard it affected him, and it was enough for him to neglect his own son for a while.

Travis: I should do more with him, but it's hard since we're staying apart during this time; and I know he cannot leave your side without crying for two hours.

Becky: Yea.

Travis: Plus, Alexis is almost six. She understands what we go and do, and I'm guessing she knows what's going on between us so it's a little escape.

Becky: I get it.

She was down and didn't understand that it was that bad.

Travis: I'm sure we'll talk about it more tomorrow.

Becky: Twelve? Right?

Travis: Yea, the therapist said we don't have to bring anything.

Becky: Ok..

It was silent as she stood up expecting a hug from him, but he said something before walking towards the front door.

Travis: See you then.

Becky: Oh.. yea, see ya.

She watched him leave, again and it breaks her heart watching him leave his own house because of her.

Jackson calling out for her changed her mood and she turned "Mom Mode" on.

Fast forward to the next day*

Late morning*

Travis was up, showered and ready for today. He was sitting at his sister's kitchen counter eating his normal breakfast. Half of a grapefruit, toast with peanut butter, and a cup of coffee.

He was getting back into his hardcore diet plan as something may come up in the next month or so.

But as he was starting to plan stuff out, his phone rang.

Travis: looks at the contact*

*Hunter*

Travis: The hell does he want?

At this point in his life with the WWE, Travis is already planning his farewell tour.

Swipes to answer it*

Travis: Yes, Hunter. How can I help you?

Hunter: You sound energetic. How are you doing man?

Travis: I'm good.

He remembered what his dad always taught him, "Never let the higher ups change your mind. Stick to your mind."

Since he was doing that, he might as well be nice about it since no one in the company knows that he's not resigning and possibly leaving.

Hunter: That's good to hear! Last time we spoke you sounded off, disapproving and looking at the negative.

Travis: That's a weird way of putting it, but yea; I was.

Hunter: Anyways. Calling with some good news!

Travis: ...

He didn't say anything since he was only looking for good news to be in the form of not discussing his contract.

Hunter: I want to invite you to Denver next Monday to discuss your suspension.

Travis: Why not tell me over the phone?

Hunter: Vince wants to talk in person.

Travis: Oh yay, Vince is going to be there.

Hunter: We'll discuss your suspension and contract. We've booked you a flight and emailed you the tickets.

Travis: Yea yea.

Hunter: See you then Trav.

Travis didn't say anything else and both hung up. He sighed loudly and went back to his food when his sister walked downstairs.

Katie: Now what?

Travis: What?

Katie: That annoying sigh you always do.

Travis: Oh. Just work.

Katie: Work? Are you finally able to go back?

Travis: I have no idea. We'll see about that next week.

His sister came down and sat next to him. She knew what today was.

Katie: So, today's the first of many?

Travis: I assume.

Katie: Are you going to be nice?

Travis: Relax, I talked to her last night.

Katie: You did!?

Travis: I stopped over yesterday. Dropped off Alexis after the long drive.

Katie: Is that why you slept almost all day?

Travis: It was a long drive, and a long- well it felt long, talk with her.

Katie: What did you talk about?

Travis: Hm* Nothing really. Just talked about the kids and that was about it.

Katie: Probably saving it for today?

Travis: Oh yea. She thinks that us almost divorcing was bad, just wait until we get it all out-

He paused and started to remember why the divorce didn't happen, and his night at Lexi's that could change everything.

Travis: Yea.. get everything out.

Katie: This will do you two good. Get everything out and easily work things out.

She then stood up with her brother and they shared a hug. Katie was a fan of how Travis is handling this now after the way he acted a couple weeks ago.

Travis said his goodbyes and walked out the front door with his jacket on and sunglasses on. He had nothing with him since this is the first session of their scheduled therapy program.

He got in his truck and headed downtown Tampa to the office.

Pulling up to the therapist office*

It wasn't hard to find Becky's SUV in the parking lot, so he parked next to her and got out as soon as she got out. They said their goodmornings and he held the door open for her.

He walked behind her and saw she was wearing one of his hats.

His emotions are running wild now. He always loved seeing her but with the situation they're in is really messing with his head. He hopes he's not going crazy over his wife, once again.

5 minutes later*

The secretary called up their last name and they walked up to be shown the door to the therapist office.

Travis and Becky walked in to see a women sitting, quickly standing up and walking around her desk to introduce herself.

Amy: Travis? Rebecca Sharp?

Becky: That's us.

Amy: Hi, I'm Amy. I'll be running your session with you through the mean time.

They both shook her hand and were guided to the two chairs in front of her desk.

It wasnt long before they introduced themselves and started the long, helpful sessions.

Amy: My husband gave a little run down on your situation, but I read through your files and got the bigger picture. Let's start off with introductions, tell me about yourselves.

As she said that, Travis looked over at Becky and she pointed at him to start.

Travis: Alright. I'm Travis Sharp. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Moved around when I was wrestling in the indies until I got a opportunity to be in the alumni group for WWE's new test show, NXT.

Amy: Good, nice to meet you. And you?

It was Becky's turn as she pointed at his wife.

Becky: Ok, I'm Rebecca Sharp. I'm from Dublin, Ireland.

Amy: I love your accent.

Becky: Oh thank ya. My story is almost matching as my husband's. Did the indies and got into the same class as Trav.

Amy: You two seemed to be ment for each other.

Travis quickly looked at Becky and she cracked a smile before they started digging into why they started couples counseling.

Amy: Ok. Let's dive into why you're here. I see from the information you brought me is because of..

She flipped through the papers and read on what Travis put down.

Amy: Stressful amount of arguing, away from home too much, and eventually cheating.

Travis: That's..

Becky: Sigh* Unfortunately about it.

They both looked away awkwardly and the meeting was officially started.

Amy: Ok, let's start with how you got together? Then we'll ease into what started this?

Travis: Ok-

He felt a hand on his knee and he saw Becky stopped him.

Becky: Can I start?

Travis: Go ahead.

She wanted to tell their life story.

Becky: I met Travis when we started in the company we're in now. We hit it off as my best friend Ashley introduced us, we gradually got to know each other more and more; he then asked me out for a couple drinks.

Amy: *listening to her carefully*

Becky: We went on two dates and I was already in love with him.

Travis got goosebumps hearing her side of their story.

He always had a feeling that Becky, the love of his life had something holding her to maybe leave him one day; but as he listens to her more and more, he sees that she was madly in love with him.

Becky: We ended up getting married a year later, had our first child six months later.

Amy: You do have children? How many?

Becky: Two. Alexis is going to be six and our son, Jackson is one and a half.

Amy: Awe, so young. So sweet.

Becky: Back to when we had our daughter, that's probably when we started to argue more and more.

Travis: ...

Amy: And why's that? Was having a child stressful?

Becky: Well. I'll let you handle this part.

He cleared his throat and spoke up after hearing the first part.

Travis: So, we were just back from our honeymoon and already talking about having kids.

Amy: So soon.

Travis: We were ready, I believe. Anyways, we tried and tried for months and got no results. I had no idea that it was hard for me to have children, but we eventually got lucky.

Amy: Maybe the stress from trying so much with no positive pregnancy?

Becky: I can say for sure I saw the mood change.

Travis: I felt like a failure at some points.

The therapist was writing down as much as she could as they kept talking.

Becky: When we did eventually have Alexis is when the arguments started.

Amy: Why's that?

Becky: I'm sitting there, a new mother and my husband is getting called to work. And he leaves!

This is the first little outburst that will happen during all of this. Travis was shocked that she is already firing.

Becky: I was heartbroken. I know what happens on the road between the men and women. I felt like a failure as he wanted to go on the road then stay home with his newborn daughter and wife.

Travis: Woah now.

Amy: Hang on Travis. Keep going Rebecca.

Becky: I would stay up and cry when he wouldn't check up on us. Then he would come home for a couple days and leave again.

Amy: Travis, why did you go back to work?

Travis: They told me to. I was given time off before then eventually went back. It's not like I just dropped a baby on her the day after she was born.

Becky: ... well, it felt like it.

She looked away and Travis looked at her and felt like the bad guy.

Travis: You never talked to me about it.

Becky: Yes I did Trav. I always asked for you to take time off.

Travis: Oh, I see that you know how I felt four years later then.

Amy: Woah woah, let's pump the brakes. Travis, tell me how you felt during that situation?

It was silent as you could hear a pin drop onto the ground.

Travis: I felt horrible.

Becky: ...

Travis: I wanted to be home with my girls. But I also wanted to prove a point, to show my daughter that I can be the superhero dad everyone wants.

Becky then looked shocked at him as he quickly shook and realized on what he just said.

He just explained what he was doing was the same thing Becky was a couple months ago.

Amy: Ok. Well, let's go back to why you felt that?

Travis: Me being the superhero parent?

Amy: Sure.

Travis: I don't know. I never felt that with my parents until I started wrestling.

Amy: So this goes back to tour childhood?

Travis: I.. I don't know. Maybe?

Becky: If I can add something. I remember you saying that you wanted to show the kids that we were the best on the planet, and they'll be able to show it. That's exactly what I said to you not a two months ago Trav.

Amy: Slow down you two, let's keep it back. So after your daughter was born and you're gone, did you ever try to take time off?

Travis: Always. Every week I would request time off and sometimes get it, but then it was time to go again. That's why I believe we were being held back by the company.

Amy: Becky. Do you feel the same way?

Becky: ...

She was thinking and remembering alot of stuff. Then she smiled.

Becky: I remember we were split for a couple days after one argument, it was our first nasty one. He left and I stayed at home until he eventually came back and we said our differences-

She then stopped and the smile went away.

Becky: He left that day and was in a serious car accident.

Amy: Woah.. wow. You two have been through some stuff.

Becky: That's when I knew I couldn't lose you.

Amy: Did you two make up?

Becky: He came back home and we were inseparable.

Amy: No arguments?

Becky: I can't think of any.

Amy: Travis?

Travis: Uhm.. no.

The therapist quickly packed some stuff up as that was a sign that this hour their hour was up.

Amy: Wow. Today was ment for a introduction and get to know each other, but we dug deep.

Travis: That's not even the beginning.

Becky: He's right.

Amy: This is going to be long. But I believe we can get you two on the right path back to each other.

Travis: ...

Becky: I hope.

It was quiet until he spoke.

Travis: Me too..

That made Becky smile a little as they shook the therapist hand and walked out into the parking lot after setting up their next appointment in a week.

Outside*

Travis and Becky walked to their cars and stood in front of them in the empty parking lot, just looking at each other.

Becky: So, that was?

Travis: Something?

Becky: I think this is good for us.

Travis: We'll see. People say she's the best in the nation.

No hugging was involved this time as they were sticking to the therapist orders and just slowly build back to the day they met each other.

Both waved and got into their cars before leaving the parking lot.

To be continued..
