Sky Returns

YouTuber Sky Does Everything (preciously SkyDoesMinecraft) officially announced that he is returning to Minecraft and all sorts of other gaming after several months of drama and sorting a life that had gone completely off course. I'm very happy for Adam and I can see he's in a MUCH better place in his life and I look forward to being able to support him and enjoy the new wave of content he's bringing on his terms!

For now, here's a little thing based off an idea I had but never developed.

————————

The dismal camp was a disheartening place to be.

Many had left the army when their leader left. Without their General, the will to fight, to bring justice, to do what was right simply vanished.

While the uninterested left, the remaining loyal recruits found themselves lost for actions. They went through their routine, cleaning and cooking and training, but without their leader there was little left of the once-powerful Sky Army.

An old ally of the Army has resurfaced, a powerful sorcerer who had gone MIA years before. But he had a valid reason for disappearing and wanted very little to do with the Army and that life he left behind.

And so, the remaining recruits awoke with the trumpet call that called the starts and ends to their day. They amassed in the mess hall and looked at the notification board, only to find it devoid of announcements once again. After breakfast they went outside, to find the world still dark. They started their days early and with winter hours being upon them, it was no surprise. Some people went to workshops and offices, others went to the armory and suited up for combat training.

The sky turned from inky black to shades of dark blue. Oh, the sky, the wondrous phenomenon their Army was named after. The unique person with so many layers and facets that the simple name "Sky" might describe. People often saw only the superficial details, not the complex person beneath the skin.

That had been his downfall, his reason for leaving. People had abused their leader because of those shallow details and never saw how they were hurting the man underneath.

"Goodbye, recruits."

The sun was rising now. Brilliant shades of pink, orange, yellow, and blue setting fire to the deep violet and red clouds.

Someone called out to draw his peers' attention. Not one, but two figures were coming up the path to their base. Many recruits dropped what they were doing to confront these intruders.

"Halt! This is the headquarters of the Sky Army! State your purpose, or turn back the way you came!"

The two cloaked and hooded strangers stopped talking and looked at the recruits. The sun was creeping over the hills, turning the developed mountainside into golden rock.

"They don't recognize us?" One
asked.

"We're wearing hoods, you dingus" his friend replied. He lifted his gloved hands to pull down the fabric.

As he did so, the golden sunbeams fell across his face. The recruits gasped and stepped back, lowering their weapons. The other man lowered his hood and waved, drawing another exclamation of shock.

The smiling face of Adam, Sky, leader of their Army. The calm and confident gaze of his old second-in-command that had left years ago, Ty, Deadlox. Neither was dressed as they had last been seen, but their identities were unmistakable.

"Hey, recruits, ya miss me?" Sky asked with a smirk.

"Sky, Ty..." the lead recruit breathed. His face hardened and he held his butter sword in stance. "How do we know that it is you?"

"This one's on you, buddy," Ty told his old friend. Sky reached into his cloak and retrieved something. He held it out for the young men and women to see.

An amulet. Black rimmed with gold accents, holding a glowing purple gem in the center. A white fastener, pure as snow, no matter what trials it went through in its age. It was a mark of destiny for those who chose it.

Sky was thought to have given up that destiny when he left the Army.

Yet his warm, resolute eyes held a promise to these recruits that looked up to him. This was what he wanted. He was going to run no longer.

The recruits embraced their General and his old friend before running back to the base. Finally, they had something to put on the notifications board!

It has been the fall of a legacy when the Team Crafted Alliance fell apart.

It had been the end of an era when Sky left his Army.

But today was the start of something new.

After all, no one could ever truly defeat the spirit and loyalty of the Sky Army.
