Be Warned- Possible Scam?
I shouldn't have deleted the PM I was sleepdrunk whOOPS
Ok but some sketchy account PMed me last night asking if I wanted to post Rogue on two different fanfic websites that they own (neither of which I've heard of yet they say they're in the top rankings?) for a profit
Just... no?
Rogue isn't even finished. I'm working on finishing it, but it's literally not even close to being done. 99% of books for profit have to be finished before they can earn profit
Also, the websites they were talking about were action books "for boys" and romance stories "for girls" which is a big no no we don't do gender stereotypes on this account thank you very much!
So yeah, just be warned. Like I said when I saw this I wasn't completely awake and I deleted the PM before I could screenshot it for proof, but the websites were called BigFic and Dreame for the boys and girls, respectively.
Be warned if you get this that it's likely a scam trying to do... something. Steal your ideas, rip off your story for profit, make you give up your rights, idk. I have a multitude of ideas of what they could be trying to do by targeting young fanfiction writers who happen to get a lot of attention (this was on Rogue, my most-read book) on a different website than their own.
FYI, you can't make profit off of a direct fanfiction. That violates copyright laws. So unless you're planning to be kinda like the author of Fifty Shades of Grey and rewrite your book so you can call it original, it's a scam. That's why I'm suspicious, because they obviously said for profit and my fanfic to entice people who don't know this with the prospect of money when it's not allowed by law.
Dang, I hope that maybe Wattpad will send through an email of the PM so I can share that??? Because I don't like not having proof that this happened DX
