Cause y'know there's that reverse psychology thing where the guy says the affects of something are permanent in order for the protagonist to be able to complete the mission in their new form but then the guy changes him back once it's all over and would he like "nah I was lying cause I needed u to think it was permanent in order to follow through"

But why did Jim's armor change back to the Eclipse armor even before the eternal night started??? It was back to the Daylight for a while but then as soon as he changed to half-troll it went back to Eclipse
My mom said it symbolized a significant change/growth in him and my brother said it was cause it was the eternal night, but I don't think either of those are correct???????
