Chapter 21
Yumei smiled but in her heart, she was still uncertain, would she be able to run? Or will it over excess her body?
Jin gestured so that they should walk and she fell in beside him, her gaze travelled to the ground.
"So tell me about yourself, Miss Dodjima."
She looked up and to her right side, she never prepared to hear this question and would should she tell about herself?
She couldn't tell him that she was a tycoons daughter, that would lead to a lot of questions which she wouldn't know how to answer.
Jimin and Yoongi only told her to blend in but never a lot of details of her background, she would have to think fast and then tell Yoongi how they will be playing this.
Jin was smiling at her and his eyes were soft. She opened her mouth, "I am nothing special. I love cooking and reading."
"Cooking? Are you a chef's daughter then?"
Yumei bit her lip lightly if she said yes she would have to tell him at which restaurant and how her parents were able to afford to send her here at this university.
On the other hand, her father did own a restaurant so she might be able to convince him to let her work there for her little fib.
"Yes, my father owns The Lucky Dragon restaurant."
His smile widened. "Wow! I love that restaurant, do you work there?"
Yumei smiles brightly at him, "I'll be starting there next weekend. I told my father it would only be fair if I help around when I am not studying."
"That is so grown up of you, you should let me know when you start so I can come and support you."
This was moving a bit to fast for Yumei, she needed time to get everything in order before she could let anyone come closer to her.
"I would love any support I can get, " she let out a nervous laugh and the stopped at the track.
Jin turned to her, "I would love to taste your cooking."
Yumei got a slight flush in her cheeks, did this Mr Kim know he was such a charmer? "Have you done some running before?"
Yumei shook her head, "No, I never do anything excessive."
"Oh? I never thought that running was so excessive."
She averted her gaze. "I usually take things slow."
He placed his hand under her chin and made her look at him. "Why is that?"
She didn't want to admit that she had a weak immune system, to her it felt like a flaw that she shouldn't have. "It just never crossed my mind."
He seemed satisfied at her answer, he got a faraway glint in his eyes. "Then let us start simple and jog."
She could do that, jogging seemed simple enough, "Sure, are we going to do all the events?"
"No, I will be assessing who will do what event to we can beat Hoseok's freshmen team."
She bit her lip and Jin took her hand, "Come, let us start."
He gave her a light tug and started at a slow pace. "You'll see that this would make you feel better."
She didn't think that it would, she never got the appeal of sports. Mostly the sportsmen looked like lunatics running after things.
Now reading was a better pass time, "That is kind off you to encourage me."
"That is what I am here for, all the encouragement you need."
She couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her lips, Jin was picking up his pace gradually. "After this lap let us go a bit faster."
"Su-sure." She could feel her legs getting lightly cramped but she will try her best in this initiation. She wondered how Yoongi was keeping up.
Hoseol returned to the group after he gave the bag to Jin he saw that they were as he had left them. None were talking to each other, 'My, my what a bunch of stiffs.'
He cleared his throat and all of their attention snapped up to him. "So I am going to divide you into pairs for the upcoming events."
Yoongi stiffened, 'Say what now?' This troubled him a bit if they were divided into pairs that would mean that Yumei's group would also be in groups.
He wondered who she got paired with and hoped that the person would be able to take care of her or at least help lighten the burden.
Hoseok moved around to pair them, Yoongi was staring at the ground and Hoseok stopped in front of him, "I gave the bag to Mr Kim and he would give it to your friend, so need to be so nervous."
Yoongi didn't look up, "Thank you so much."
Hoseok smiled and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Cheer up, this is going to be a wonderful day Mr Shoma-" Hoseok turned around, "Ahh Miss Sato you will be Mr Shom's partner."
Yoongi's blood stopped cold, he was getting partnered with Unmei? Wha-what was he going to do now?
She would see clearly through any lie that he would tell her. She knew him too well and he never could fool her.
Hoseok removed his hands from his shoulder and took a step back. Unmei walked forward with a bright smile and stuck out her hand, "Hello, I am Unmei Sato."
Yoongi forced his head up to look Unmei in the eye, those eyes that have captured his heart and never let him go. He sluggishly lifted his hand to meet hers, "I am Kiryu Shoma, nice to meet you."
She smiled brightly at him, "Let us work well together!"
Yoongi nodded and shook her hand, his eyes never wavered from her face. Hoseok clapped his hands together and they both jumped, "Splendid! I want you to be at the track, you will be competing in the races."
With that, he left them standing awkwardly shaking their hands of each other still. Yoongi suddenly let go, "Uhm, should we go before he gets back?"
Unmei's smile dropped a little, "How long are you going to pretend Yoongi?"
His face contorted in shock, she figured it out so quickly? If she was able to do that then that would mean his brother would know in an instant who he was.
If that happened, Yumei would be in grave danger and he wouldn't be able to handle this. 'Shit! What am I going to do?'
"How did yo-"
She folded her arms and snorted. "Since our eyes met when they were dividing us."
He gulped, she was always so observant in these situations and he frowned slightly. "Why didn't you rat me out?"
"I figured that you had a reason for doing what you are doing but know this; I will play make-believe in front of the others but when we are alone I want to speak to Yoongi."
Yoongi blinked, "You are willing to talk to me after all these years?"
Her lips thinned a bit, "I promised myself I wouldn't if I have met you again but as I have stated. You must have a good reason for doing what you are doing."
She turned around and her ponytail whipped in the movement, "So let us get this over with."
She started walking to the trackside of the field, it was divided that both teams could 'train' before they removed the barriers.
Yoongi followed her reluctantly, this whole situation got him bewildered it was a million to one chance that he would have met her again.
He was happy for the opportunity to make things right, he had so many things that happened in his life but the thing he remembered was her face when he never returned to the public school.
He didn't say goodbye he just disappeared to the private school his dad out him in but the guilt was eating at him and he walked past there and saw her standing at the tree waiting for a boy that would never come back. She did that for four days before she gave up.
He never saw so many emotions spread in a person's face as it had over those four days. He had vowed that if he ever saw her again he would make everything right.
Tae was typing away at his computer when his phone vibrated, he almost fell from the chair. He took out his phone, 'This better be Jungkook.'
He looked down on his screen, a new message; unknown number. This was strange as no one has this number except those who are involved in this case.
"I am sorry that I am only replying to your message now."
Multiple messages were coming in.
"They took my original phone after I have wiped it completely clean after our last conversation."
"I am not the driver for Mr Kim, they put me through a series of tests and said my talent would be wasted on such minimal matters."
"They are going to make me his personal bodyguard."
"I am finally going to meet them tonight but now I had to change my name because they would have tracked me to the police station."
"My name is Diago Shinamo, they gave me this burner phone so that is why I am only texting you now."
"You will be my only contact on the outside Tae, I can not risk texting the sarge."
"I am going to delete all these messages after you have read them, just to minimize the suspicion."
"If you were wondering I have saved your name under Taelene. So if they ask I can say your my love interest."
"So don't be angry at me, just reply a yes so that I know you have understood all of this."
"You're my only hope now, Tae."
"Hope your plans are going as smoothly as mine, soon enough we will have them."
After that the messages stopped, Tae blinked slowly at his phone and he breathed out the breath he was holding. 'Thank the gods that nothing serious had happened to him.'
He was happy that their plan was going smoothly as long as they could keep it that way. He typed; "Yes."
All of the messages disappeared from his phone, he looked up to his computer screen. "Now the games are beginning."
