Chapter 16
He was getting nervous, this might be the most dangerous game that he and his brother are playing.
The death of their Aunt Yunari broke their family apart. Their mother went into a depression that she couldn't break out from.
Yunari was her most beloved little sister.
He took out his phone, well he said we should have a chat as soon but we can not be seen talking or the whole cover will be blown into the open.
And they couldn't afford that yet. They went through hell to get this far and the worst part was, was to play nice with people that were responsible for many things.
His phone vibrated.
"How are you?"
He rolled his eyes, how was he? He was nervous as hell, he was afraid that someone might find out since he got older it was getting harder and harder to sneak around.
"I am okay, I guess... How are you managing?"
"The same, I feel like we are in too deep."
"We are but we can not stop now. We will have to play this out and do the takedown and overthrow."
"You speak as if that is easy, you must forget the ultimate goal."
"I am not forgetting brother, but you should not forget while we want to take them down we want to take over too."
"Yes, that would be the ultimate victory for us."
"I think the ultimate victory would be to have justice for Aunt Yunari."
"But that is what we wanted from the beginning as mom and dad wanted."
"So what changed again?"
"We thought that the best victory would be to get justice and watch the families crumble."
He nodded while reading the message. That was correct because what would damn a Yakuza more than by taking over his family from the inside.
"That is true, as long as we are still in this together we can do this."
"You know I will always have your back, brother never forget."
He couldn't help to smile at the message. He and his brother were close to each other.
"I will not forget, have yourself a gold evening brother."
"You too, and do not forget to wipe all the messages."
"I won't forget."
"Good and remember we are strong."
He mouthed the words to himself, 'We are strong.' And he cleared all the messages. He opened the phone and threw away the sim card.
Luckily the sim card was a burner and could not be traced.
Every time when they get a new one, they would leave each other a message somewhere so the other could find it.
Namjoon pulled his hoodie tighter over his head, the night was chilly. His thoughts were running away from him.
If he saw her tomorrow how will he approach the subject? Well, he still had her book, maybe he will use that to strike a conversation but then he would have to admit how he got it.
And that would give off some serious stalker vibes. But what about the bloodhound of hers? Was he really a bodyguard or was he just being a nice friend?
He let out a frustrated sigh. "Why is it so difficult to talk to a girl?!"
He hesitated and saw that there was a light that shone brightly behind him. Was he being followed? His heart was pounding in his chest. He turned around, there was a black SUV and its lights were on bright.
It blinded him, 'I am being followed!' The SUV drove passed him and the driver didn't give him a second glance.
His breathing escalated, "Okay Joonie you are getting paranoid now." He continued his way home, he saw the linen he used was still hanging and the light were still out. 'Good.'
That meant his parents haven't realised that he went out, he placed his hands on the linen and began climbing back up to his room.
He moved his grip to his window sill and heaved himself in. His room was just as he left it, his notebook was on his bed and Yuki's book on his pillow.
He pulled his hoodie off and smiled as he picked up the book. he hasn't read this story in a long time. He put on his desk lamp and opened Alice's adventure in wonderland.
A bookmark fell out from the chapter 'Pool of tears.' His fingers were shaking as he bent to pick it up and he gasped. The book fell close and he was scrambling to open his notebook. He got his notebook opened and there it was.
It was the exact same pink ribbon. "Yumei?!" He lightly flattened the two ribbons next to each other. 'I am dreaming, aren't I?'
He stared at the ribbons next to each other and he smiled. It really was her, his smile broadened and he whispered. "I found you." He was so happy that he had proved his own theory but the question remained, when will Yumei confess who she is?
Yumei was still eating her pudding in the kitchen while swinging her legs, she looked around. 'Yoongi left?'
"Well, he did say I could have his pudding!" She let out a giggle, there came a light knock at the kitchen door and she looked up. "Jimin!"
He grinned at the sight, there was chocolate all over her mouth. "Mei-mei, you have something over your face."
She pouted. "If you have a clean mouth after eating, then you haven't enjoyed the meal well enough."
He chuckled, he missed this light battering between them. "You are right, love." He entered the kitchen and sat down opposite of her. "So, tell me how was your first day."
Yumei got excited, they haven't sat down in ages and talked, he was to busy to learn from her father to take over their family business because her father said it was no place for a woman. Her father owned most of the business in town.
"I loved my first day." Jimin handed her a napkin and she cleaned her mouth. "Even if I am not doing classes yet, they took us on a tour of the campus."
Jimin leaned forward. "Aren't you tired?" He was surprised that she wasn't too exhausted because her immune system is so weak. "I slept in the car and a while before bursting in on you guys."
'Oh? Then Yoongi must have forced her to rest. Good, that was good.' He folded his hands and rested his chin on them. "That explains this late-night snacking."
Yumei grinned. "Well, Yoongi knows how to treat a girl." They both burst out laughing. "I can see he is good for you Mei-mei." Yumei bit her lip, "He does take good care of me, but I still miss you."
She didn't know how guilty he felt about that and Yoongi did talk to him on about it, he said that she needed him and all he answered him was that he didn't have time to anymore. He had more important things to worry about. "I miss you to Mei-mei, so tell me what else happened."
Yumei gazed down to her pudding again, "Do you remember the story I have told you about my knight?"
Jimin cocked his head to the side. "About Kim Namjoon, the boy who tried to save you?" She nodded at him. "What about him?"
Yumei was uncertain to tell Jimin, what if it wasn't him but just some random guy that had the same name? What was the point in telling Jimin anyway? He wasn't there for her anymore, okay well he was there but not there.
Yoongi on the other hand was more of a friend to her now, she exhaled a slow breath. ''I think he studies at the same university as us."
Jimin smiled inwardly, 'She speaks as if she met him already. This will be an interesting revelation to bring to Mr Kazuma.'
Yumei pushed her chair back and Jimin was brought back from his thoughts. "I am going to bed, are you going to ride with us tomorrow?"
Jimin blinked, maybe he should and scout the school grounds for this Kim Namjoon, or better yet get Yoongi to do it. Wait, that would make things a tad more difficult if he had to look after Yumei too. 'Mmm, I guess I'll ask him to see what he can find out.'He smiled up at Yumei, "I don't think I would be able to, love but I will try."
Yumei hid her disappointment with a quick smile. "No, biggie." She got up from the stool and left the kitchen when she turned the corner she walked into her mother. Riyu smiled at her. "Are you ready for bed?"
Yumei just nodded at her, she tried to walk past but Riyu grabbed her arm. "You don't seem like yourself honey, what is wrong?" Yumei wasn't in the mood to talk, her energy was completely drained now. She guessed that she was angry at her father for taking her best friend and replaced him with another friend which she still doesn't quite grasp.
She loved Yoongi, it was just the fact that their friendship was still so rocky, even after seven years. 'Maybe because we are similar in some ways?' She averted her gaze from her mother. "I am just exhausted."
Riyu didn't believe her and nodded. "Get a good night, rest honey." She didn't answer and continued climbing the stairs to her room.
Riyu gazed backwards over her shoulder at Yumei, 'Even after all these years that I have brought you up. You still don't open up to me.' She turned back and went to the kitchen where she saw Yoongi and Jimin talking in hushed voices.
