Chapter 30

Act III
Chapter 30 ━━ Drama Queen

━━━━━━━━☆★☆━━━━━━━━

After the whole incident from the day before yesterday, when Shelley realises that she's no longer a normal human being, she chooses to spend yesterday like a normal human being by sleeping and cuddling with her teddy bears. She even cries then and there a little bit. She knows she's a drama queen but seriously, there's a level a teenage girl can handle and this is a whole lot.

Bella brings her food and takes care of her as Charlie is worried again. She switches off her phone and locks it inside her wardrobe to avoid the existence of the outer world. Bella has been her agent to pass her messages to everyone who tries to contact her or visit her including Jacob and Esdras.

Bella asked the blonde to do the act with the bandage and stuff since Charlie has no idea of the supernatural world including Nymphs. Lucky him.

Today, Shelley chooses to spend today by watching Marvel movies all by herself. It's good to drool over the godly looking Sebastian Stan being a badass. She swears, that guy is so dreamy. And now it is the night time and here she is talking to Renee after giving an end to all her drama.

"Don't you miss the feeling of vitamin D soaking up in your pores?" Renee inquires through the phone.

"I do, mom." Shelley replies, looking out of her window to meet up with the pitch-black environment. There's a hint of russet fur moving around in the entrance of the woods. It's not clear though. She smiles at the idea of Jacob being her knight in shining armour. As if noticing her stare, Alpha peeks his head through the night, flashing a wolf grin. She waves at him before he disappears into the night again. She knows that he's still there and closes the window, locking it as he instructed her.

"You know, colleges in Florida are a lot sunnier. I'm just saying. If you aren't already planning on going to university in Alaska as Bella." Renee asserts, her voice dripping with sadness at the last part. She wants her daughters near her. The blonde doesn't blame her, she's the best mother in the world.

"I haven't planned anything yet. But I'll consider it."

"How's your wound?"

"It's getting better." The blonde jumps into her bed, now laying on her stomach. "But still house arrest."

"You should rest, baby. It's for your own good."

"I got a babysitter. Jake."

"Oh, that must be fun."

The blonde chuckles at her mother's responses and strolls back to her bed. "It is."

"Sounds like so much fun." Renee teases knowingly.

"Mom!" Shelley groans, burying her face into her pillow in embarrassment.

Renee giggles like a high school teenager. "How's Esdras?"

"He and I are now on good terms."

"That's good. The way he watches you… It's like he's willing to leap in front of you, and take a bullet or something."

"Is that a bad thing?" The blonde asks, playing with the duvet. "He's my best friend, mom. I would do the same thing to him."

"It's an intense thing. If you move, he moves. Like magnets."

"Okay. That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard in my life." Shelley says, patting her pillow with her hand like a tired child. Hell, she is tired. "You got anything for Jacob too?"

"He's different. And it's-it's like he's willing to sacrifice his soul to give you life." Renee informs.

"I don't know, Jake and I are just... In love." The blonde shrugs her shoulders slightly but freezes as realisation hits her like a bus. "Wait. You're trying to say something."

"I saw how they behaved at the hospital. That's more than friendship. I saw that in both of them." Renee further explains her observation.

The blonde's mind clouds with different emotions. "I still don't get what you're trying to say."

"You know what I mean, baby." Renee says, clarifying her daughter's doubts into real horror. The blonde is not in love with where this conversation is leading.

"No, mom. We're definitely not in a love triangle. I'm sure it's not."

"I get it. I just want to make sure you're making the right choices for you."

Shelley takes this in, her choice much bigger than the geographical location of Forks and sighs with so much stress. "There's nothing to choose, mom. It's always Jake."

"Maybe Jacob's the one for you and he's a nice boy. But I see good qualities in Esdras too. Some better qualities than Jacob." Renee says and the blonde sinks her head deep into her pillow. "I don't know. It's up to you to choose. You know, 'cause you're the one who's gonna have to live with them."

"Alright, enough with the heavy." Renee says, changing the subject only to come up with another touchy subject. "I almost forgot. Riley came here and asked for you."

"Riley? When?" Shelley questions, her mind-blowing the memories of the boy.

"Yesterday. He asked about your whereabouts." Renee retorts.

"And?"

"And I said about you living with your dad."

"Mom! Why did you tell him that?"

Renee sounds worried now through the other line. "He looked sad. More like desperate. I couldn't help but tell him. I'm sorry, baby. I shouldn't have told him anything."

Renee must be thinking that the blonde is upset with her telling Riley where she lives. It's not a problem, it's just about how she's going to face him again. She feels regret for breaking up for no reason. She left him in the cold without explaining a thing and he doesn't deserve that. He's a nice guy and deserves a beautiful girl that can match his perfection. "It's okay, mom. It's fine. I'll ring him."

"That's a good idea." Renee says, mostly in relief.

A short hiatus fills between the two ends before Shelley speaks again softly. "Mom."

"Yeah."

"I miss you."

"Oh, honey. I miss you too."

Shelley can imagine Renee holding her tears. Her broken voice wants her to take the next flight and see her.

"Gotta go. I need some sleep." She explains with a yawn following behind. "Love you."

"I love you, my little angel. Sleep tight. Don't miss your medicine." Renee says before the line goes dead and makes the blonde let out a sigh.

Her mind begins to wander back to what her mother said before. A love triangle? Seriously? She shakes her head in disbelief and rolls to the side of her bed before switching the light, deciding to have a research on Nymphs. Sitting in front of her Apple notebook, she simply types 'Nymphs' into Google search engine, until a few articles pop up.

Shelley clicks on a link that says, 'Legend of Nymphs' and several pictures of beautiful women load up with a description. They're mostly half-naked or fully naked, gaining the attention of men around them. It makes her remember strippers. Seriously? What is her kind? Sluts? She scrunches her nose in disgust. Gross. She's not going to walk around half-naked slash fully naked to enchant the men around me like a whore. There's no way I'm doing that.

The blonde scoffs dramatically and scrolls down to see Nymphs getting drained by vampires. It looks worse than being a human blood bag. She surely doesn't want to end up like that. Nope. Why couldn't she be a unicorn instead of a nymph? She swallows the lump in her throat and slowly trails her eyes at the description, reading the words and taking everything into her small brain.

In Greek mythology, a nymph, from the Latin word nympha, is any member of a large class of female creatures that are a frequent target of vampires because of the healing ability of their blood.

Much like the cyclical aspect of nature, nymphs are not immortal; they live extremely long lives, but are prone to the processes of ageing and death. Beautiful and fun personages, the nymphs can be childlike in their playful, cheerful, generous behaviour. They're also known to be brilliant and lovely creatures among the other supernatural creatures. However, they could also feel anger, jealousy, and great sadness; even dying of a broken heart.

Their relationships with men are generally troubled. While some men were overcome by their beauty, becoming infatuated and unable to live a normal life, others abandoned the nymph who loved them, leading her to seek jealous revenge.

Shelley lists down the main points she can catch up with the description and begins to compare herself with the internet version of Nymphs.

Lovely?

She can be extremely rude. Duh.

Generous?

Partially.

Nice and funny?

Sometimes.

Brilliant?

Duh.

Childish?

Ma'am, she still watches SpongeBob and loves chocolate if that counts. Let's not forget about her fluffy teddy bears.

Emotional wreck?

Hell yeah.

Live a long life? But not immoral.

So when she's in the age of a granny but looks like she's in her twenties or something? Sounds cool.

Beautiful?

Let's ignore that part. Duh.

Jealous?

Used to be all the time when Jacob gawked at Bella with adoration throughout her childhood. Keyword. Used to be.

Revenge?

Bitch, yeah. She ended up in the hospital with a deep scratch on her shoulder last time she got revenge on Jacob.

Troubled relationships?

Gosh. She thinks she's done for the day.

Shelley turns off the light, losing herself into the darkness, hoping everything is just a part of a nightmare. But deep down she knows how reality wants to screw with her life. So, it's another day of her messed up life.
