drastic mood change

Ross's P.O.V

"Shelby and I need to talk about family stuff," I said as we walked inside our house, the moving dude now gone and boxes all over the place.

"Mkay," Max said.

"Don't bug us pls k bye."

I took Shelby up to her room and locked the door. "Do it," I ordered.

"But I hate it... you know I do!" she whined.

"And I'd hate to see you die." I held my arm out. "Bite. You know you can't kill me."

She started playing with her wolf tail that had now popped out, her ears were out too. White, fluffy like clouds, with specks of yellow and teal. Her irises were red, the whites of her eyes slowly fading to the same colour. "You'll go ballistic," I warned.

"I can't... I can't..." Shelby whispered.

"Shelby, drink!"

She gave in, knowing she had no choice but to obey me. I winced in pain as her fangs sunk into my arm. She quickly pulled away. "Are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine," I replied, my hand waving above my bleeding arm. It quickly healed. "You feeling better?"

"I want to sleep," Shelby mumbled, making her way over to her bed.

"Okay, I'll tell the boys to keep it down."

"Thanks Ross."

Shelby's P.O.V

I played around with the blanket on the end of my bed before settling down, curled up in a ball. I yawned again before slowly drifting off to sleep.

The moon was so bright. It shared its light with the world below, oh-so generously. As I stared up at it, however, I felt a change inside of me. "You can't hide the real wolf inside you, Shelby,"  said her voice.

"I still control you," said her voice.

"Well, maybe I don't, but that's not the point. I have power," said her voice.

"How do you think they'll feel when they're harmed by the hands of one they held close?" said her voice.

Her voice.

Her voice.

Her bloody voice.

I howled at the full moon.

"Or will you go for someone else?" said her voice.

"Someone will end up hurt," said her voice.

Her voice.

Her voice.

My voice.

I howled at the full moon once again. A pain took over my joints. Now in my wolf form, I pranced off into the dark void of trees.

"You can run," said her voice.

"But you can't hide," said her voice.

Her voice.

My voice.

They were going to die.

What was I going to do?

The sounds of their cries echoed in my ears. In my head. I whimpered.

No. I wasn't going to let her hurt them.

Let me hurt them.

I awoke in a puddle of sweat. Ross sat next to me, his eyes to his phone. I whimpered, and he looked at me. He placed down his phone and asked, "Are you okay?"

"I had a nightmare..." I whispered.

"You're okay now... you're okay."

I'd be more concerned about you, I thought.

"I heard talking about nightmares helps you feel better," Ross said.

"Well... you, you and the boys... you were dead," I mumbled. "I was alone. Alone with only the voices in my head..."

If I did nothing, that would be the truth.

"I just want to see Jess again..." I sighed.

"Well... tomorrow, we were going to get to know Aphmau more. We think that... that she may know Jess."

"All I need is..." It came to me. "I've got it!"

"What?"

My ears and tail popped out of existence. Well, out of sight. I still had them but- I'm rambling okay ANYWAY-

I ran downstairs, careful not to hurt myself as I ungracefully skipped every other step. I lugged one of my bags up to my room. I opened it. My valuables. I carefully took everything out, biting my lip until I finally found a snap-lock bag. Inside it was a pearl necklace. Jess gave it to me before she moved away, it was her's from when she went on a holiday to Mexico as a small child. I opened the bag slightly and sniffed it. It still had her cinnamon-vanilla scent. I closed the bag and put it in my pocket. "We need to see Aphmau," I said.

"It's like 1am, dude."

"Then WHY ARE YOU STILL AWAKE?!"

"Because you were CRYING!"

"Oh. Well are you coming or not?"

"I mean... I'm not letting you outside alone."

"Okay, let's go."
