| Beauty & The Beast | Chapter 8 |

You ran past Kakarot and Bardock, while they tried to stop you, but to no avail. You didn't want to be there any longer, not with that beast, who caused you to lose everything you've cared about and took away your precious life. This was a great opportunity for you to flee, return to your sister, and never come back.

You wanted your life back -- to go back home.

The large heavy doors opened after you pulled them apart. Snow blew in, yet you pushed your way out and ran to your stallion. Without wasting time, you quickly rode the horse, leaving into the forest. You didn't dare look back even as the icy cold air collided with your delicate face. You were like a bird, experiencing freedom once again.

At the middle of the forest is when the stallion became to tense up, starting to be scared. Yellow gleaming eyes appeared from the snow and soon you realized what they were.

A pack of wolves.

Oolong neighed as you pulled on the reins, comanding him to go the other way while the wild creatures attacked. At your order, you led the horse, avoiding branches, trees, whatever came in the way and trying to shake off the wolves.

A gasp escaped your lips after you rode into an iced lake, wolves had sprung upon you, causing Oolong to throw you off and into the pure snow, making you an easy prey. Fear had consumed you, but you managed to grab a thick stick as your only solution for a weapon. With a clench of your teeth, you kicked, pushed, and hit a few wolves before it broke in half.

You didn't have time to react as a wolve jumped at you. The impact caused you to fall back thus the wolves were able to attack you, yet you tried your hardest to fight back. As you closed your eyes and brought your arms up to protect yourself, the bite from a wolve never came.

Slowly you opened your [e/c] orbs to discover the color red painted to a cape swifting in mid-air in front of you. Your eyes widened, realizing that it was him, Vegeta, who came to the rescue.

He was defending you, pushing off wolves as they thrashed him, biting off his fur and leaving scars on him. It seemed unbelievable to think the beast will come all the way here to protect you from ferocious creatures. The beast who didn't even seem to care about you nor having the acknowledge of how to control his temper. But now as you're watching him fighting off with the wolves, you came to doubt that, maybe, this beast isn't as vile as he appears to be.

Once he threw one of the wolves onto a tree and it howled in pain from the impact against it, the others retreated, seeing that they had no chance against the beast.

Vegeta panted, trying to recover his breath. He felt victorious of winning the battle, but deadly wounds were what he received. Wounds that burned with great pain, and made him struggle as he turned slightly towards you.

You caught sight of his arm. The dark fur that was once there along with delicate flesh were ripped apart, allowing red crimson liquid to drip. You made eye contact with the beast for a second, [e/c] orbs meeting dark ones, and not longer after Vegeta collapsed, falling into unconsciousness.

'T-This is my chance...!' You thought, as your legs began the movement of running away.

But you couldn't.

Slowly you turned around to eye the beast and sighted the pool of blood forming. You couldn't possibly leave him there -- for god's sake, he saved you! You'll only be the beast yourself for leaving him there hopeless and vulnerable.

Approaching him, you utilized all your strength to lift him up and put him onto Oolong, before grabbing onto the reins and escorting the horse back to the castle. It took awhile to get there, fortunately though, the servants were there in time to aid you in bringing warm water and a cloth.

Vegeta sat upon his chair close to the fireplace, as the flames engulf the dried wood. His face was relaxed, the scowl gone replaced by an expression you never knew he could have. His breath slow and steady with his chest moving up and down in a slow rhythm. He was in a deep slumber while you were on your knees, eyeing his sleeping figure. The beast was like a whole different person when it came to sleeping. He looked so calm that you couldn't stop staring at him. A small cute born puppy he seemed similar to.

You sighed, and shook your head, pushing that thought in the back of your mind, returning back on tending to his wounds. Your fingers grasped onto the wet cloth and softly settled it to his arm.

At that motion, Vegeta woke up, the dreadful burning sensation piercing through his wound. A growl vibrated in his throat, his tongue quickly licking the part it stang. Your brows made contact as you tried to stop him.

"Don't do that, woman..." He growled, moving his arm away from you. "I don't need your help."

"Stop being so stubborn," You replied still frowning. "And just hold still." He once again tried avoiding you from grabbing his arm, but you eventually caught it. As soon as the cloth made contact with his wound, Vegeta yelled out in pain causing the servants to hide behind a table.

"T-That hurts!" He barked.

"If you had done as you were told and hold still it wouldn't have hurt as much!" You retorted back.

"Well, if you hadn't ran away this wouldn't have happened!" Vegeta spat, gesturing to his arm.

"Well, if you hadn't been so mean and frightened me then I wouldn't have ran away!"

Vegeta opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He closed it and was in thought before he spoke up, "Well, you shouldn't have been in the west wing," He scoffed and you were surprised for a second.

"Well, you should learn how to control your temper!"

He had nothing else to say for Vegeta remained silent with his brows reunited.

"Now hold still..." Your voice lowered to a soft tone. "... This might sting a little," You added underneath your breath, but Vegeta heard what you said as the cloth was placed gently on his injury. He held back a growl, craning his neck to the side with shut eyes.

You looked at him, the corner of your lips curved into a small smile before it disppeared and you gazed to his arm. "Thank you... for saving my life."

His abyss eyes fixated upon you, taking in the words you said. "It... It was nothing," Vegeta looked away, feeling warmth on his cheeks. "I... I never asked what your name was..."

You smiled. "[F/n]... [F/n] [L/n]." Your eyes came in contact to his ebony ones. "And yours?"

"Vegeta... It's Vegeta."
