| Beauty & The Beast | Chapter 3 |
"Gee Yamcha, do you think this is a good idea?" Puar asked while they peeked from behind some bushes in front of your house.
"Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be? [F/n] will be my wife and this is the most opportune moment to ask for her hand." Yamcha replied with confident.
"Alright, if you say so, but all I can say is, [F/n] is definitely going to get the surprise of her life." Puar said nodding his head.
"Exactly. Today will be the luckiest day of [F/n]'s life," Yamcha exclaimed before letting the bushes go and walked back to a small gathering of some of the villagers - Launch and her two friends, as well as the baker, priest, a band, and a few others were there. Decorations and a make-shift chapel were set up around the small clearing. Everyone were busy preparing for what Yamcha meant to be his wedding to you. He stepped forward and smiled.
"Thanks for coming to my wedding everyone. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go propose to the lucky girl." He said winking. The villagers laughed, Puar rolled his eyes with his arms crossed, as the three girls burst into tears.
"Hey, Puar, you know what to do when I come out the door with [F/n], right?" Yamcha inquired.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm suppose to sit here and strike up the band," Puar responded, holding up a conductor's wand. The band suddenly began to play the wedding march.
Yamcha glared at Puar. "Not yet!"
"Sheesh, sorry." replied Puar and lowered the wand, as the band immediately stopped. Yamcha straightened up his shirt and walked to the front of the cottage.
You retrieved your eyes from your book, hearing the three loud knocks coming from the front door. You gently placed the book on the kitchen table, making sure you keep your page, and approached the door afterwards. Pulling down a large device that your sister had invented to see who was at the door, you spotted none other than Yamcha standing on the porch waiting to be let in.
You rolled your eyes. "If I ignore him, will he go away?" You rolled the thought around your mind before looking back at the door and sighing. "That's a big fat no."
Slowly opening the door, Yamcha wasted no time of inventing himself in without your permission.
"Yamcha, what a pleasant surprise." You said slightly backing away.
"Isn't it though," He walked towards you. "I'm just full of surprises. You know [F/n], there isn't a girl in town that would love to be in your shoes. This is the day..." Yamcha leaned on a small vanity and looked into the mirror. He stared at himself and brushed some of his hair away from his face. A pointless move, you noted, seen as his hair fell back into the exact same place anyway. Yamcha smiled at himself before turning back to you. "... This is the day your dreams come true!"
You backed away behind the table. "What do you know about my dreams, Yamcha?" You inquired.
"Plenty of course," Yamcha sat down on a chair and placed his feet upon the table, over top of your book. Mud splashed everywhere causing you to frown, as he leaned backwards and putting his hands behind his head. 'Strike one,' you thought.
"Picture this - a rustic cutting lodge, my latest kill roasting on the fire..." Yamcha slowly kicked off his boots, making himself more at home. "And my little wife, massaging my feet." He exclaimed. You plugged your nose in disgust. 'Strike two.'
"All this will be happening while the little ones play with the dogs." Yamcha continued, continuously standing back up next to you. "We'll have six or seven."
"Dogs?" You asked hopefully.
"No [F/n], strapping boys like me." He replied. You snatched the book from the table and rolled your eyes, as you quickly grabbed a cloth and began to wipe off the dirt. You walked over to the bookshelf.
"Imagine that," You said.
"And do you know who that little wife will be?" Yamcha inquired walking over to you.
"Let me guess..." You said dreading the answer, placing the book back in the shelf.
"You, [F/n]," Yamcha answered for you, putting his arms on the shelf as you turned around. You ducked under, immediately darting to the side not wanting to be caught by this brute.
"Yamcha, I-I'm... speechless." You smiled leaning yourself against the door and putting a hand to your chest. "I really don't know what to say." Yamcha slowly walked towards you, pushing a chair out of the way. He pressed his hands against the door. Your head was in between them, having no where to run.
"Yamcha, I don't think this is right, I mean, I'm really not good enough for you." You said trying to remain calm.
"Don't be ridiculous. You're perfect," Yamcha interfered. "Say you'll marry me, [F/n]." He closed his eyes slowly moving his face forward, preparing to kiss you. Your brows narrowed downwards. 'Strike three, you're out!' You thought, moving your hand to the doorknob and quickly opening it. You moved to the side, as Yamcha fell out and into the mud. You immediately ran back into the kitchen, grabbed his boots, and threw them outside. Closing the door shut, you took in a deep breath.
Puar did as he was told and started up the band not realizing that Yamcha was not only alone but had fallen into the mud. Puar slowly turned around and his face illustrated with slight surprise to find his companion sitting in the mud dirty and dripping wet with a sinister glare on his face. Puar stopped the band and looked at Yamcha.
"So I'm guessing things didn't go so well?" Puar pinpointed sarcastically. Yamcha stood up and grabbed Puar by the collar around his neck.
"[F/n] will be my mine, no matter what I have to do. She will be my wife." He said menacingly and threw Puar into the mud.
"Hmph, talk about touchy." Puar coughed sitting besides a pig.
Yamcha stormed off wiping muddy water from his face angrily. There was no way he was going to lose this game, especially when the prize was you.
After a moment, you slowly opened the door and looked outside. "Is he gone?" you asked to no one, but a rooster and chicken eating a bucket of feed. When you saw no sign of Yamcha, you grabbed the bucket and walked down the steps.
"Can you imagine?" You walked around to the side of the house where some goats and chickens were playing in the pen, throwing the feed around angrily. "He asked me to marry him. Me! The wife of that boorish brainless..."
"Madame Yamcha, can you just see it? Madame Yamcha, his little wife. No sir, not me. I guarantee it. I want much more than this provincial life!" You finished feeding the animals, left the pen, and ran out into the field.
"I want adventure in the great, wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell. And for once it might be grand... to have someone understand... I want so much more than they've got planned..."
Soon enough neighing was heard, causing you to look towards the direction of the sound. You saw Oolong running towards you. He seemed terrified.
"Oolong? Oolong, what are you doing here?" You inquired. Oolong neighed again and stood besides you. At that moment you noticed the invention was still loaded into the cart, but your sister was no where to be seen. Your heart beated rapidly against your chest and soon you began to panic.
"Oolong where is Bulma? Where is she? Did something happen to her?" Your asked. The horse just stared at you - his eyes terrified. Immediately, you unloaded the cart and jumped onto Oolong's back. You grabbed the reins and pulled trying to calm the stallion down.
"Oolong, we have to find her. Something's wrong and I'm not going to stay here and be the damsel in distress. Come on Oolong take me to where Bulma is." You rode Oolong to the cottage first. You grabbed your black cloak and threw it over your shoulders. You pulled the hood over your head and then headed back outside. You got on Oolong's back and snapped the reins.
"Let's go Oolong, we have to find her." You said and Oolong charged towards the path that your sister had taken.
At the gate of the castle, you and Oolong approached towards it slowly. "What is this place?" You awed, as the stallion stared at the dark castle with an awestruck expression as well. But his fear overruled him causing him to neigh and slightly back away with panic.
You patted Oolong's neck trying to calm him down. "Easy, boy. Steady." With a jump off of him, you grabbed hold of his reins and patted his head. "Please calm down, Oolong. We need to find Bulma." At that said, you turned back to the gate and gasped. Opening the gate, you ran in to find Bulma's headwear resting on the ground.
You pick it up and slightly observed it. "So Bulma is here. This is her hat. She must have dropped it or something." You turned, looking up at castle, wondering if your sister must have entered that building.
Bardock was pacing back and forth on the table while Kakarot just stared at him.
"Oh, couldn't keep quiet, could we?" Bardock exclaimed. "Just had to invite her to stay, didn't we? Serve her tea, sit on the Master's chair, pet the pooch," He stood with his hands - looking like handles - crossed.
"I was just trying to be hospitable." replied the orangy candelabra with a slight shrug.
You walked into the castle, looking here and there. "Hello? Is anyone here? Helloooo?" You walked up the carpeted steps. "Bulma? Are you here?" Soon awhile, you were looking at the third floor balcony, searching for your lost sister.
The teapot had filled up a bucket of hot water with bubbles of soap that had some dishes in it ready.
"Mama! Mama!" the teacup said hopping to her. "There's a girl in the castle!"
"Now, Gohan, I'll not have you make up silly stories." The teapot said as she hoped down from the bucket.
"I'm not lying, Mama. I saw her."
"Not another word." The teapot said pushing him into the bucket. "Now into the tub."
A dust-feather that looked like a maid came and said with a french accent, "I zaw a girl in ze castle!" This caused the teapot to go eyed wide with inner surprise.
"See." Gohan smiled. "I told ya."
Bardock was still scolding Kakarot, as the poor candelabra just looked at him with innocent eyes.
"Irresponsible, waxy-eared, slack-jawed -!"
"Bulma?" They heard a voice say, as both froze for a second before turning to see you with a dark cloak and [f/c] dress walk down the hall.
"Did you see that?" Inquired Kakarot. They both jumped down from the table and looked out the doorway. "It's a girl!"
"I know it's a girl." Bardock rolled his eyes annoyed.
"Don't you get it? She's the one! The girl we've been waiting for! She came to break the spell!" He spun Bardock around before hopping down the hallway.
"Wait a minute!" Bardock repeated trying to stop him.
You called out your sister's name, but no answer came to your way. You continued down the hallway and past a large wooden door. Your tracks stopped when you suddenly heard a loud creaking noise.
"Sister?" You asked turning around. You walked into the room. Bardock hid behind the other side of the door and Kakarot hopped away, as you came through.
"Is someone here?" You asked, looking forward to see a long, winding staircase and noticed glow heading up the steps. "Wait! I'm looking for my sister, I..." You ran up the stairs, but froze, seeing no one in sight, but an orange-colored candelabra on the wall. As you looked around, you noticed there were piles of hay scattered around the stone hall, with four wooden doors along the side of the north wall. There were large and thick iron bars covering any open holes in the doors.
"That's strange... I could have sworn someone was here." You said to yourself in confusion.
"[F/n]?"A woman's voice sounded out. Your heart skipped a beat as you recognized it as your sister's. Immediately you grabbed a torch near the opening to the large hall and ran to the first door. You found your sister reaching her hands out to you, as you took them in your own and stared into the bars.
"How did you find me?" Bulma asked, shivering and her hands felt freezing cold.
"Your hands are like ice. We have to get you out of there somehow." You said in concern, looking around.
"No [F/n], I want you to leave this place immediately. It's not safe here." Your sister warned.
"Who done this to you?" You demanded.
"There's no time to explain - you need to go now!" Bulma exclaimed before coughing a few times making your face fall.
"I'm not going to leave you in this damn prison." You responded, squeezing her hands. You suddenly tensed when someone grabbed your shoulder and threw you to the side afterwards.
"What are you doing here?!" A deep voice inquired. The torch that you had fell into a small puddle of water, immediately going out. The room was dark and you hardly can see a thing.
"Who's there? Who are?" You asked looking around the room for a hint of movement. Moonlight was shining into the room, but it wasn't enough to see clearly.
"The master of this castle." He growled, as you noticed a slight movement through the darkness. For certain, you knew that whoever this master was had moved to the right of your side. You slowly stood and prepared to stand your guard even though, inside you, you felt yourself sinking into fear.
"I came here for my sister. You must let her go. She's sick and needs help." You stated.
"Then she shouldn't have trespassed in the first place!" The voice argued back.
"But she'll die if she doesn't get out. I'll do anything, just let her out!" You demanded.
"There is nothing you can do. She's my prisoner and will here remain until the day she dies." He replied moving in front of you, but he still remained shrouded in darkness.
"But there has to be something I could do. Something..." You paused as an idea came over you. You immediately reached out into the darkness.
"Wait." You said when your hand touched nothing but air. Even though you couldn't see him, you sweared to feel someone's eyes burning in you. You looked to the side wondering if you could really go through with this idea. Looking back up, you soon realized this was the only way you could save your sister.
"Take me instead." You exclaimed pointing to yourself.
"You...you would really take her place?" He asked surprisingly softly.
"No [F/n], you can't!" Her sister pleaded. You ignored her and continued on.
"If I did, would you release my sister?" You asked.
"Yes, but you must promise to stay here forever." The deep voice said. You slowly looked down. What were you doing? If you stayed here your sister would be free, but you would lose your own freedom and dreams. On the other hand, if you refused then your sister would die in this cell. You knew what should be done. You squinted, trying to see if you could even make out the voice's owner. However, it was too dark to even do that.
"Come into the light." You ordered. You watched as a foot slowly shifted into the light, followed by a leg, and then a body. You looked up as you came face-to-face with a hideous beast. His eyes were dark black, his fur was a brown shade color. He wore a simple white shirt, black pants, a dark cloak and some fur seemed to spike straight up like a flame. You gasped at the sight of him and stepped backwards. Your sister reached out to you.
"No [F/n], you don't know what you're doing." Bulma said. You took in a deep breath and slowly walked towards the creature. Your eyes closed and nodded.
"You have my word." You reassured. The creature quickly walked passed you.
"Done." He said and continued towards your sister's cell. You clenched your fists at your sides, holding back the tears that wanted to escape. You looked up as you felt two cold hands on your shoulders.
"Listen to me [F/n], don't do this! I'm older then you, I've lived more." Bulma tried to reason with you. You grabbed her hands just as the beast suddenly grabbed your sister's cloak and pulled her away.
"Wait," You demanded.
"[F/n]!" Bulma shouted as the beast dragged her away.
"Wait!" You yelled, but the beast ignored you. He ran down the tower steps, through the castle, and outside, all the while still dragging your sister behind him.
"No, please spare my sister! Please!" Bulma begged.
"She is none of your concern now." The beast replied throwing your sister into a carriage.
"Take her to the village." He ordered and then stormed back up to the castle. The carriage suddenly stood up on its own and began to walk away from the castle.
"No, wait, stop!" Bulma demanded, but her cries fell deaf. Running into the cell that now belonged to you and staring out the window, you watched as the carriage pulled her away from you. Tears filled your eyes and travelled down your cheeks. You slid to the cell floor and pulled your knees up to your chest. You buried your face in your knees and the tears fell down your face. Your dreams, your sister, and your freedom were all gone now.
