"What's up your ass today?" Lia asked Y/N after her son, Jay, left to use the bathroom.

Y/N tried to act like she didn't know what Lia was asking. "What do you mean?"

"You're fucking full of it, Y/N. You're distracted by something, and I know it's not Aunt Emily's collection of teacups. You hate tea as much as I do. Now, what gives?"

Y/N hesitated for a moment, checking in the dining and living if some other ears could not hear her. Seokjin and the boys were there in the garage, sorting through the massive amount of stuff there. She turned back to her cousin, biting her lip. "I've screwed up."

Lia furrowed her brow. "What? How?"

A resigned sigh slipped past her lips. "Do you remember Jeon Jungkook?"

"Jeon Jungkook? Hmm. Why does that name sound famil—oooohhhh." She gazed at Y/N with wide eyes, her finger extended. "Wait a minute. Jeon Jungkook! Wasn't he the guy who went to your high school, had a huge crush on you, asked you to the dance, and...?"

"Yup," Y/N interrupts. "And that's embarrassing enough without your help, thanks. Anyway, I bumped into him last night—he's the owner of this pub near the hotel."

"Tell me it's not as hot as you thought he was back then."

"Ugh, I wish. He's freaking hot, the jerk."

"Okaaaay. Did he recognize you?"

Lia planted herself at the kitchen table with her brow furrowed. "Okay, so I'm like superderp confused. How'd you mess this up?" Her gaze fell on something located by the doorway leading into the hall. "Oh, Jay, go an' help Daddy for a few—Y/N an' I need to talk about somethin'."

"Okay, Mom."

Almost as if on cue, Lia was right—Y/N had been so preoccupied she hadn't even realized when Lia's son had returned. Waiting as the garage door to the apartment opened and closed again, they both finally leaned forward. "Tell me what happened."

Y/N's gaze darted everywhere but toward her cousin. She should have kept her mouth shut in the first place, but Lia had always been her confidant. In fact, she was the only one aware of Y/N's crush on Jungkook back then. And his betrayal. "I. um. I kinda slept with him."

"What!" Lia's voice shot up, but then she lowered it. "You must be crazy to have had sex with a guy who treated you like crap during your year of high school?"

"It wasn't the whole year", Y/N shot back, trying to salvage some of her dignity, "Just near the end of it."

"Oh, as if that does wonders considering what he had done." Lia stopped, frowned, and shook her head. "Alright. Let me get this straight. You said he didn't even recognize you, so, does that mean that he didn't remember you at all, or, shall we say, your name? Did you tell him your name?". I sort of cast myself as Lee Y/N." Every time Lia opened her mouth to ask something, Y/N would put up a hand, giving her a stop.

Now, rather than playing twenty questions, she spent several minutes talking about what happened the other night.

"I was just going to tease him and then walk away, get my own bit of revenge, even if he didn't know about it. "And it's just that, you know, he's got a lot of beers, and after a few, well, things got a little out of hand and we. well, next day. I mean, I've already said that part." She bit her lip briefly. "But that's not all."

"More?" Lia rolled her eyes. "Of course there's more. What else?"

"I had dinner with him last night, and kind of slept with him again."

Lia's mouth opened and closed a few times before she stood to stalk over to the pantry. It was hardly afternoon, but there she picked up a bottle of vodka that had been left over from one of Aunt Emily's parties. She produced two shot glasses from atop one of the donation boxes on the counter. She didn't even bother to rinse them out before setting them on the table and filling them. "I knew I should've picked up some damn Bloody Mary mix on the way over."

Picking up one of the glasses, Lia gestured for Y/N to do the same.

Oh, what the hell.

The women toasted glasses and then quickly butted the glasses down all in one gulp, each gasping at the powerful alcohol running down their throats.

Lia sounded like a croaking frog when she spoke again. "Okay, tell me what this is all about." She cleared her throat before continuing. "You've never really been into one- or two-night stands or a cocktease or a revenge fuck kinda girl, so what gives? And why do you sound like you're regretting it all?"

Y/N sighed. "Because I am?"

"You're asking me? How the hell should I know?"

"All right, all right. I'm sorry now. But he's different now. I mean, he's like he was before he tried to humiliate me—nice and sweet and funny—but he's so much more than that now." She flailed her hands as she spoke as if that would aid the reason for her doing something so dumb. "You should see how he treats his staff and customers—like they're all a part of one big family, really. What a close family—like mine. If he were anyone but Jeon Jungkook, I might be really interested in seeing where this goes between us. He's just the kind of guy I've always wanted to date, but any possibility I might have with him is based on this lie—these lies. Now how am I supposed to consider moving back here, when there's always going to be the possibility of him showing up and finding out who I really am?"

Lia poured them both another shot of vodka, and those went down a lot smoother than the first. "Okay, for starters, you never let whatever the hell this is have an impact on if you move back here or not. I'd like to selfishly have you living close to me again, so take that out of the decision equation. If you do come back, then you're going to have to tell him the truth before he finds out because, Y/N, he will eventually find out. Yeah, Busan's gotten bigger since you left, but it's still a small town. You'll run into him again sooner or later."

"Well, you're not helping." Y/N glared at her. "Besides, it was just his birthday; it won't matter when he finds out, he'll still hate me."

The only noise in the room, besides the men's voices, was the amiable ticking of Aunt Emily's Betty Boop clock. Finally, when her cousin spoke up again, Y/N said he was falling for him.She reached her arms across the table and gently banged her head against them. "Yeah, I think I am."

"Then you've got to find some way to tell him the truth and soon."

Unfortunately, it was probably too late for that.
