With a twinkle in his eyes, he shrugged nonchalantly and then pointed at three large tin cans on the floor by his feet. "Apparently, the same thing you're doing—picking up some paint. Although, I'm going with an off-white color. One of my tenants moved out, and I have to do a little updating before listing the apartment again." He gestured to the samples she was still holding. "What about you? Painting your aunt's house?"

She licked her lips, and his eyes flared as his gaze followed the motion. "Um, yeah. It hasn't been done in years, so I thought I'd brighten it up before bringing in a realtor." Not that she'd decided to sell the place yet, but he didn't have to know that.

What are the freaking odds of running into him like this? The goddesses of Fate must have it in for her. Do something for the wrong reasons, no matter how much fun it'd been, and they shoved it in your face as a ghastly reminder instead of letting it fade into the past.

"Good idea." He paused for a moment while scratching his temple. "Um, I had a great time the other night and was disappointed to wake up alone."

Regret filled her as she remembered how much she'd wanted to stay and wake up beside him for morning sex. The most idiotic thing she'd done was not tell him who she really was when she introduced herself to him. If he'd recognized her and not been interested in her, then she wouldn't have experienced the most incredible night of her life. She also wouldn't have known what she missed out on. Now that she did, her penance was that she could never tell him the truth. "Uh, yeah. Sorry?—"

He held up a hand, cutting off her automatic apology. "I understand. You're only here for a few weeks before heading back to your life in Seoul. Why start something you can't finish, right?"

She nodded, taking the easy out he was giving her. "Exactly. I'm not into one-night stands, just so you know, but I... felt a connection with you." That was true, but explaining further was out of the question.

"I sensed it too. In fact, I was kicking myself for not getting your number. Running into you here is like fate, though." He ran a hand through his thick, dark hair. "Listen, I understand your time in Seoul has an end date, but I'd really like to get to know you better while you're here. Can I take you out to dinner tonight?"

Her eyes widened. That was the last thing she'd expected him to ask.

"You don't have to say yes," he quickly added. "But it's been a while since I've been with a woman who is as fascinating, funny, and entertaining as you are, and I'd like to enjoy some time with you while I can. We don't have to sleep together again if you don't want to, but I'd be interested in that, too, if you are. I... I really liked being with you the other night, and not only in bed."

Placing a splayed hand on his chest, he raised his brows and appeared to be holding his breath as he awaited her response. The wistfulness she saw in his eyes shattered her resolve to avoid him. She couldn't turn him down, no matter how much she should. "I-I'd like to see you again too. Dinner would be nice."

He exhaled in obvious relief. "Great! Um... I have to cover for one of my bartenders until five-thirty at the latest. Why don't you come to the bar around five-fifteen? As soon as I can get out of there, we'll walk up the street to Blue Danube. It's a steakhouse owned by an older couple who moved to Seoul a few years ago. I became friends with them, and we eat at each other's place every now and then."

At least she didn't have to worry about the owners recognizing her. Hopefully, she and Jungkook wouldn't encounter anyone they knew from school. Although, if Jungkook still didn't recognize her, it was doubtful anyone else would after all that time.

"That sounds great. I'll see you around five-fifteen."

A grin spread across his handsome face before he pointed at one of the three samples Y/N was still holding. "Throwing my two cents in—that's my choice." He picked up his paint cans and stepped backward, still smiling broadly. "I'll see you later, Y/N."

"Bye, Jungkook."

She stood there, staring at his retreating back until he disappeared around the end of the aisle. Although shaking her head at the stupidity of agreeing to go on a date with him, she couldn't deny that she was excited about it.

Glancing down at the paint samples, she decided his choice was the right one. Damn it.
