What was it derived from?
Flower Breathing derives from Water Breathing, which mimics both perennial flowers and fruit blossoms and replicates them with the user's movements, techniques, and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques and forms are a combination of graceful attacks that focus on agility. This Breathing Style also enhances and utilizes one's vision, albeit at the possible cost of their eyesight. Users of Flower Breathing also visualize themselves seemingly creating and manipulating flowers and petals when unleashing its techniques. This form was originally created by Minebi Hishita, and was used by the Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho.

Backstory
Elise was born the middle child of the Hanasato Family. She was born in a wealthy yet highly religious household with her parents and two siblings. She was known for being the beauty of her hometown due to how kindhearted and wise she seemed in everyone's eyes, though she felt very self conscious about other girls.
Nonetheless, that didn't stope Elise from giving the town the light of her presence.

Her older brother named Yuto used to be a very strong demon slayer who possessed Flower Breathing and saved many lives from the dangers of demons. However, after being severely wounded by an Upper Moon demon, he had no choice but to retire from the corps and give up on his passion for fighting demons, but hasn't lost his hope for the better future. Other than that, he and Elise are very close with one another.

With her younger sister named Miura, Elise shared a very close bond with her. She was actually the one who taught the young girl how to read and write since she's been homeschooled for nearly her whole life. Yuto would occasionally substitute for Miura's homeschooling, but Elise was always there to give her wisdom.

Despite sharing a very close relationship with her two siblings, Elise somehow had a complicated relationship with her parents. Her mother named Nori was highly strict with almost everything that she'd set up high standards and religious beliefs as her way to decide what's right for her three children to grow up in. With her father named Masato, he'd tried to convince Elise to be put in an arranged marriage once she's turned eighteen that way they can build a better life.

With all of these responsibilitie, it was so much for Elise to bear on her shoulders due to Nori's standards and Masato being very pushy about the idea of an arranged wedding that it caused her to almost break down from the stress. Despite all of it, Elise hasn't given up on herself and family that she continued on giving the kindness and support to the villagers.

However, a few months later, Elise was out on a midnight walk all by herself to clear her mind off some things after another day of visiting a large church in their neighborhood. As she was humming a small tune, Elise then couldn't help but have a bad feeling that she was being watched, but she has been looking around with her keen eyes just to make sure. Though, before she can comprehend the next event, a horrifying demon suddenly pounced out from the bushes and tried attacking the redheaded girl, but she was quick enough to dodge its attack.

Thanks to that, it led to the demon suddenly chasing Elise through the oak forest that she'd ended up being lost from her home. Before the demon can even try to strike again at the girl who was cornered, another stranger was quick enough to gracefully behead the foul creature. Elise was a bit shocked as she stared at a young woman who saved her. Just by judging the uniform with her keen eyes, Elise immediately identified the woman as someone who's part of the Demon Slayer Corps.

She had fair skin, pale violet eyes, long and straight black hair that's styled with two pink and green butterfly ornaments. To make it very appealing, the woman was also wearing a butterfly patterned haori over her purple tinted uniform. She then introduced herself as the Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho.

After being taken into the Butterfly Mansion for a quick checkup, Elise then met a black and purple haired girl named Shinobu, who was also Kanae's younger sister. As they were becoming friends, Elise found out that both Kanae and Yuto were old partners who shared Flower Breathing. The next day, Kanae took Elise into her mentorship and began training her into becoming a demon slayer (though they were unaware of Kanao watching them).

Elise may have lost the path that lead back to her hometown, but she'd then asked Kanae to send out her Kasugai crow in order to deliver a letter to her family since they grew worried about her absence from last night. As she was training, Elise then met Kanao and the other butterfly girls in the mansion, in which they'd shared a very close bond (except she's slowly struggling to earn a friendship between her and Kanao).

However, Elise's life then changed drastically after hearing the news of Kanae's death. She got killed by an Upper Moon demon, except this was also the same enemy who severely injured Yuto that caused him to retire. After joining Shinobu and the butterfly girls in Kanae's funeral, Elise then swore revenge and made a promise to protect many others in order to carry on the legacy that Yuto left behind.

During Final Selection with Kanao, Elise then discovered how to use Flower Breathing during her second encounter with a demon. She'd managed to use three forms, but she still had a lot to learn. Since Shinobu became a new headmaster in the Butterfly Mansion/the new Insect Hashira, Elise then became her tsuguko so she can learn more about her fighting skills and Flower Breathing.

Ever since, Elise fought many demons out of spite for losing her late mentor and having to live with her brother being injured until the day of his healed has completed. She may have occasionally show mercy due to Nori once saying that an act of kindness is the key to heaven, but that's the one promise that Elise made/kept; protect many humans for her family and Kanae's sakes, but never show remorse to pure evil.
