Around strangers, Yuriko can be a little intimidating due to her smiley face, though she doesn't actually mind making new friends since she's much of a social butterfly. When it comes to fighting demons, Yuriko is such a menace to society that she doesn't show no remorse unless it's absolutely necessary.

What was it derived from?
Fruit Breathing was derived from the combination of Water Breathing and Flower Breathing, which mimics different types of fruits and replicates the user's movements, techniques, and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques and forms require the user to utilizes their incredibly graced movements and dexterity. It also enhances and utilizes one's vision, albeit at the possibility cost of their eyesight. Yuriko's older brother originally created the technique since he failed in mastering Water Breathing.

A technique used after or during evasion, the user gracefully flips backwards and swings their sword with their body weight to deliver a powerful attack.

This form is the strongest yet dangerous one! The user leaps forward and unleashes a number of consecutive slashes that takes form of a huge Japanese dragon that increases in strength and power with each rotation due to momentum. This form is only used for very powerful demons (Example: Upper Moons). Usage of the technique, however, is highly dangerous, as the tremendous strain on the eyes could cause blood vessels to rupture and lead to partial or complete blindness. This technique is still usable even if the user only has one fully functional eye.

Backstory
Yuriko was born the middle daughter of the Minori Family. She lived in a small household with her parents, grandmother, and two siblings, Tekina and Saiua. She grew up in a very friendly neighborhood near the farmlands, though she can be very socially awkward with other children around her age.

For a young girl her age, Yuriko had the most incredible dexterity thanks to her grandmother, Botan, who taught her many arts of baking and cooking. Botan was a very talented and generous elderly woman who owns a local bakery in town. She made a lot of sweet pastries, especially her famous cinnamon apple pies. Yuriko also kept a journal of her grandmother's recipes.

Both of her parents, Erika and Senako, were also working in Botan's bakery. Whenever they weren't busy, Yuriko would work everyday in the bakery and earn money since her family were poor. Botan would always insist that they didn't need the money, but the young girl would also insist that they need it the most so they won't be struggling living in poverty.

Her older brother, Tekina, hardly visits their house since he was known for being a demon slayer. Correction, he was one of the Hashiras. A little fact, he was trained into learning Water Breathing by his former master, Sakonji Urokodaki. However, since he didn't have any potential to master this technique, Tekina took the opportunity to create his own breathing style, in which he named it Fruit Breathing.

As for Yuriko's younger sister, Saiua, many other children finds her a little strange since she would just stare and smile blankly. Erika tried having the youngest child make some friends, but other children would get scared from her staring. Saiua mostly looks up to Yuriko, and would always follow her around when she gets the chance whenever she comes home from the bakery.

Yuriko couldn't ask for a better life. She had everything she needed; a loving family, a friendly environment, and a decent job in order to help out everyone. However, her life changed during on winter night. Yuriko was out in the woods that was far from home to find some nearby fruit trees so she can harvest some apples.

She wasn't aware, but rumors has it that demons has been lurking around her hometown that many children went missing. As she was busy harvesting the apples, Yuriko couldn't help but have a gut feeling that she was being watched. If she was right, her keen eyes caught the glimpse of a shadow that almost looked like a man.

Dropping the basket that held the fruits, Yuriko slowly backed away as she tried reaching for some rocks to defend herself, but before she could react, a wolf-like demon jumped from its hiding spot in the bushes and tackled the girl down, taking one strike and leaving a permanent scar on her waist. Yuriko tried screaming out for help as she cried from the immense pain from the sudden attack on her waist.

Before the wolf-like demon can attack again, Yuriko's prayers were answered by another stranger effortlessly decapitating the foul creature. She was about to thank her savior, but her eyes widened in shock when she realized that her own brother, Tekina, had saved her.

After reuniting with Tekina, Yuriko was then taken back to the Fruit Estate near the Demon Slayer headquarters, where she was given a warm bath and clean clothes. After feasting on some rice balls, the two siblings decided to catch up
since it had been a while since they've spend time together as normal siblings.

A few days later, Yuriko was then taken into Tekina's mentorship. She had greatly surprised him from the hidden dexterity that she'd experienced from how much strength she worked in her hands from working in the bakery. As she trained, Yuriko couldn't help but think about how worried everyone else was when she hasn't returned home, but Tekina must've red her body language and had his crow sent a letter.

After passing training, Tekina gave her a sparkly red headband as a good luck gift before he sent her off to Final Selection. During the second night, Yuriko found herself surrounded by five demons, which had gave her memories of how she first got attacked, but she pushed aside her fears and discovered the second form of Tekina's technique, which is Fruit Breathing.

Fast forward to where she passed Final Selection, Yuriko eventually became Tekina's tsuguko and stayed in the Fruit Estate for two months. She would occasionally send letters to her family members to let them know she's safe and have the Kakushi send treats for them. She felt like everything was back to normal and that she had a connection with Tekina, but her life changed again after encountering an unfamiliar situation.

Yuriko was sent out on a mission to help one of the Hashiras fight against an Upper Moon demon, but it was too late by the time she'd reached her destination. Her keen eyes caught a glimpse of a man with rainbow eyes running off, but what traumatized her was the sight of Tekina brutally injured. She tried desperately to pick him up so she'd get help, but the last thing he told her was to never get rid of the smile he said he loved before his final breath.

Only a year later, Yuriko continued fighting demons while showing no mercy, but her optimistic smile never wavered as she kept her brother's wish as a promise. Her family knew about Tekina's death from the Kakushi telling them, but they were worried for the young girl who has been grieving for him.

Seeing how strong and successful she had become, the master of the Demon Slayer Corps officially named her as the new Fruit Hashira at a young age, and she couldn't be happier to help carry on Tekina's legacy. Ever since, Yuriko swore to seek revenge against the demon who took away her brother, along with helping the other Hashiras with keeping everyone safe.
