Yakeru is someone who doesn't easily trust strangers at first glance. In order to earn his trust and respect, he expects honesty and a simple friendly approach. However, around friends, Yakeru can be very protective, loyal, and more friendly that he'll do anything to cheer up everyone around him. During his missions, he can be pretty reckless, though he's more focused and determined to get the job done.

The user unleashes an arcing vertical slash in an upwards motion, often brought from in a tail guard.

Backstory
Yakeru was born the youngest son in the Kasai Family. He lived in a very wealthy family with his parents and older siblings. His father's side of the family were known for being the strongest demon slayers for three generations.

With the relationship between him and his father, Suiiki, it was very complicated. This man was someone who Yakeru absolutely DESPISED throughout his childhood days. When he was only 10 years old, Yakeru suffered through Suiiki's harsh training sessions that resulted the young boy being punished with simple criticism for not doing anything right.

However, with the relationship between him and his mother, Hotaru, it was completely different. She gave him the warmth and love he needed the most since Suiiki never showed any emotion. Whenever he had the urge to cry after another hard day of training, Yakeru immediately went straight to Hotaru for comfort.

With his two older siblings, Yakeru can be himself freely without having Suiiki being harsh on him. His older sister, Ruby, has always been there to clean up any scratches that he would earn from falling and getting hurt. With his older brother, Karyuu, would often cook his favorite meals anytime the young boy would come back inside the house hungry.

Yakeru was in complete content with his life, minus his father. He thought he couldn't ask for more, but his life suddenly changed drastically. During one spring night, Yakeru was busy meditating in the oak woods to try and keep his anger in control after another harsh morning of Suiiki training him. He has been meditating for hours that he hasn't realized it was already dark outside. Finally finishing up the process, Yakeru's highly sense of smell then caught the strangest scent......which was blood.

Without hesitation, the boy immediately started running back to his house while tracking down where the scent was coming from. Just as he arrived, Yakeru paused himself and hid behind the bushes while spotting a stranger calmly walking out of his house. However, this man had blood stained all over his clothes as he walked off, but not before his piercing red eyes instantly glared over at the boy's hiding spot.

Once the man was gone, Yakeru came out from his hiding spot and dashed inside his house, but only found Suiiki devouring Hotaru's body while Ruby and Karyuu's bodies lay lifeless. Yakeru watched with wide yet cold eyes, soon realizing that his own father was turned into a demon. Soon noticing his presence, Suiiki growled and began coming closer to him, which caused Yakeru to slowly back away while reaching behind him to find a near weapon, but no avail.

Just before he can meet his fate, another stranger was quick enough to effortlessly decapitate Suiiki's head, killing the man that the boy despised. Yakeru stared with wide eyes, staring at the man with yellow-and-red hair before thanking his savior for saving his life. The man only laughed in triumph and gave Yakeru a quick pat on the head before introducing himself as the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku.

Seeing that Yakeru's family were killed, Rengoku then sent off his crow to find the Kakushi so they can bury their bodies while he took Yakeru back to his estate where he can eat and rest after experiencing the loss of his family. For a few days, Yakeru has been taken well care of before he was taken into Rengoku's mentorship. Unlike how Suiiki would treat him, Yakeru easily gotten used to how his mentor would praise his newfound strength and confidence.

After passing Final Selection, Yakeru soon became Rengoku's tsuguko and began learning about Flame Breathing, but the only thing he wasn't allowed to use was the ninth form since it was only for the Rengoku Family members who uses that breathing technique. Ever since, Yakeru fought against demons with a determined smile, though he knows that it won't bring back his family. He may have lost them, but the only thing he hasn't lose fate to protect others with the help of Rengoku's guidance.
