Azuki is described as a very sweet young man who is compassionate, full of wisdom, and has sympathy for those who endured the loss of their loved ones, even though he doesn't smile much. He was very insecure, extremely quiet, and less talkative when he was younger, but later on inherited Kanae's behavior. Like Shinobu, Azuki has a really huge temper and can be sometimes terrible at confrontations, which he hides very well behind his kind personality, so if you dare mess with him or any of his friends and sisters, then you're going to sleep with one eye open because he doesn't take kindly to those who are disrespectful.

The condition may last months or years, with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions. Crescent Wings
The user dashes forward and does a singular graceful slash using all their body weight aiming for the neck.

Second Form
Deadly Flight
The user launches themselves away from the target and delivers a horizontal slash that winds up in the target's body, which is well disguised by small and glowing blue butterflies.

Third Form
Poisonous Beauty of Vanity
The user leaps highly and strikes the air, releasing poisonous blue monarch butterflies directly at the target before gracefully landing on the ground and smoothly sheathing their sword to allow bright blue slashes to wind up in the target's body in a star shape. In order to master this technique, the user must stay completely still and keep their breath steady and quiet.

Fourth Form
Blue Spring, Shattered Chrysalis
The user quickly strikes and stabs the target in the chest, transferring a blue colored substance from the blade of the sword and into their body. The user then leaps into the air while transforming into a gigantic blue butterfly of light, before diving from it and stabbing their blade straight through their opponent and into the ground, injecting a large amount of poison. After ten seconds, the target's veins turns into a dark blue and will bleed out from the poison and suffer an agonizing death.

Final Form
Rage, Blue Eyes of Poisonous Grief
This form is the most strongest yet dangerous one, and it also changes the world around the user! Blue colored poison bleeds from the user's eyes, making the whites go entirely dark blue and poison-like tears fall out. Then, the user runs with ultimate speed in a butterfly shaped pattern to generate enough strength, jumping highly into the air and delivers a powerful thrust, stabbing the target directly in the neck to inject a larger amount of poison. However, this makes the world for the user all the better. Now, their eyesight is far better. In addition, every chance for a move is revealed, bright purple butterflies showing which move to use to it's best extent. During the form, it raises the user's kinetic vision to its maximum, while using this specific technique the user perceives the world as if it were slow motion. Usage of the technique, however, is highly dangerous, as the tremendous strain of the eyes could cause blood vessels to rupture and lead to partial or complete blindness. This technique is still usable if the user only has one fully functional eye.

Backstory
//SPOILERS!!!//
Azuki was born the youngest son within the Kocho Household, living in a wealthy, caring and loving home with his parents and two older sisters, Kanae and Shinobu. Their parents were known for working in compounding medicine. Whenever he'd ask his mother about his name, she'd always tell him that it was during the night a few days after he was born. His eyes had a beautiful color of sapphire blue and they would always shine bright underneath the full moon, which made the mother have a perfect name to give him, which is now Azuki Kocho.

During his childhood days, Azuki would always spend time in the garden and make some flower crowns to give Kanae and Shinobu since the three of them had a very close bond. Azuki's life was just peaceful and perfect, until a demon broke into their home and slaughtered both parents who tried protecting them, which left him completely traumatized while being held in a protective embrace by his sisters.

Just before the demon can attack them, they were then saved by the Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima, who had slain the demon. Now more determined as a result of the pain and suffering they endured, Azuki, Shinobu, and Kanae made a promise to become demon slayers to protect each other, and prevent other people from enduring the same losses they had to experience.

After being taking in by the man who saved them, Azuki would stay very quiet and watched his sisters try to convince him to teach them how to become demon slayers, but he would refuse. However, after managing to move a large boulder, the girls then convince the tall man to introduce them to breathing style cultivators. Ever since, Kanae has been learning a breathing style named Flower Breathing. Shinobu, on the other hand, didn't seem to have the potential to learn the technique, but she developed a technique called Insect Breathing.

Unlike his sisters, Azuki felt like he didn't have what it took to become a demon slayer because the memories of their parents have been overwhelming to the point where he would go in a breakdown, which results Kanae having to stop her training and go comfort him while Shinobu would watch with sympathy and sadness, which was mixed with hatred and anger that she felt towards demons. Overtime, the master of the Demon Slayer Corps officially named Kanae as the new Flower Hashira.

Later on, Azuki was just in the Butterfly Mansion and has been interacting with some butterflies until Shinobu caught his attention by tapping him on top of his head. He was about to ask what she needed before seeing a young girl next to her. She had plum purple eyes, black hair that is tied in a side ponytail with a pinkish purple butterfly hairpiece as an accessory, and she seems to be wearing a pink yukata. Shinobu explained how she and Kanae had found her tied up and being led as a slave by a grown man in the small village, but somehow they'd purchased her yet saved her from poverty, which led Kanae deciding to take her back to the Butterfly Mansion and adopt her.

Afterwards, Azuki made a flower crown for Kanao as his way of welcoming her to the Butterfly Mansion. The young girl may have stared emotionlessly at him for the whole time, but at least she had accepted the flower crown. Overtime, Aoi was soon introduced when she was taken in to the Butterfly Mansion. Azuki grew a little nervous around her from how she'd pestered Kanao of choosing her last name when she and the Kochos were trying to figure out what her last name will be, but somehow he'd eventually warmed up to Aoi.

Some time later, Shinobu then introduced Azuki to the smaller butterfly girls; Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho. Azuki seemed very nervous as he hid behind Shinobu, but after his sister explained what happened to their families, he had sympathy and gave them flower crowns to welcome them. However, Azuki's life turned upside down when he'd discovered the one thing that traumatized him even more.

Kanae was getting herself prepared for another mission, which involved having to fight an Uppermoon Demon, but Azuki refused to let go of her hand while Kanao watched Shinobu trying to hold him back, which made Aoi and the triplets very worried about his behavior. Kanae only smile and knelt down, giving the young boy's head a gentle pat and told him that she'd be okay before also telling him that she has a gift waiting for him to open until his birthday.

Once she left the butterfly mansion, Shinobu immediately took Azuki outside to the garden and began asking him about why he was acting like that in front of Kanao and the other girls, which lead him to push her away and began telling her out of anger about the times where he would have a breakdown from remembering the deaths of their parents, and that he was scared of losing Kanae. After explaining, Shinobu's eased up her temper and immediately held him in a comforting embrace, which led him to return the hug and bursting into tears.

For hours, Azuki waited in the garden for Kanae to return home from her mission and will occasionally bite his nails from the sheer anxiety. However, when he spotted the Kasugai Crows flying in the air, Azuki was about to call out to them before hearing the birds announcing Kanae's death from Uppermoon 2 killing her, which made him froze in place while his eyes went wide. How could she lied to him? She promised that she'd be okay!

Seeing Shinobu walking towards him with red and puffed eyes, he then saw Kanae's bloodied butterfly haori in her hands before asking if her death was true. After Shinobu stated that it was true, memories of their parents and Kanae flooded in Azuki's head before he'd fallen onto his knees and sobbed uncontrollably. During Kanae's funeral, Azuki forced himself to stay inside the mansion while everyone else mourned for the fallen Flower Hashira because of his PTSD. Shinobu then became the new master of the Butterfly Mansion at the age of 14 to take her place. Later on, both Azuki and Shinobu then inherited their sister's personality and they both made a promise to always stick together, as well as carrying on Kanae's dream and taking good care of Kanao and the other butterfly girls.

On the day of Azuki's 11th birthday, Shinobu gave him a large box that was neatly wrapped in a blue ribbon as she told him that it was a gift from Kanae before her passing. Kanao, Aoi, and the triplets watched as he opened the box and pulled out the one thing that reminded him so much of Kanae, which was an identical butterfly haori with different layers of blue colors.

Years later, Shinobu took the opportunity to train both her younger siblings to become demon slayers. Kanao somehow learned to master Flower Breathing while Azuki was having major problems with learning that technique along with Insect Breathing. However, as he was training by himself while everyone was asleep, Azuki discovered that he'd created a new technique, which he named it Butterfly Breathing.

A few months later, Azuki went to the same Final Selection with Kanao and learnt to master Butterfly Breathing as he used it on the demons who were about to attack him and his adoptive sister. Once the seven day trial was completed, Azuki officially became the new member of the Demon Slayer Corps and swore revenge against the one demon who took Kanae's life.
