What was it derived from?
Love Breathing is derived from Flame Breathing, which mimics the emotion of love and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques inculcate a gymnastic and movement-oriented rhythm into the user's attacks, making use of their superhuman flexibility, dexterity, and agility to perform wide, winding and weaving slashes that have mid-to-long range applications. This technique is originally created by the current Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji.

Backstory
Sumika grew up in a loving yet small household with her parents in the outskirts of a city. She adored her parents and looked up to them for their similar kindness. She practically lived in a modern home where she learnt ballet, languages, and culinary techniques.

During her childhood, Sumika was known for defending other kids from being bullied, though she developed a very aggressive temper at an early age that made most children almost afraid of her. Her father, Makoto, was lucky enough to teach her some basic skills of meditation, which seemed to help her a lot more as time passed.

Sumika was pretty close with her mother, Noa. She may not have no idea that the woman was part of the Demon Slayer Corps, but all she knew was that she helped a lot of people. No matter how much time they'd spend on forming a special mother daughter bond, Sumika slowly felt easily attached to her and never wanted to let go.

However, while Noa was taking her midnight walk, Sumika was busy helping Makoto with cooking dinner. It felt like hours had passed and Sumika was starting to grow very anxious about being separated from her mother for so long. Even with her father's reassurance, she still couldn't shake off that eerie feeling.

Suddenly, a crow flew by their house and handed Makoto a letter saying that Noa was safe, which utterly confused the young girl. It was very strange to find out that Noa wouldn't be away from her family for so long, but Makoto suddenly realized that she became part of the Demon Slayer Corps. He heard of them from an old friend, but never encountered one.

A few months later, Noa then introduced the Ainoshi Family to a couple of strangers during her 27th birthday; a man with fiery hair and eyes that resembled the colors of a flame, and a woman with green-and-pink hair that's tied in three braids. Their names were Kyojuro Rengoku and Mitsuri Kanroji. Sumika immediately grew fond of them, while Makoto only became well acquainted by the time Noa was finished explaining how she became a slayer.

As time passed, the final battle between all demon slayers and Muzan Kibutsuji became so much intense that Makoto prayed for his wife's safety while Sumika would continuously feel more anxious for everyone. When the war had finally came to the end, Noa and a few others managed to survive, but Mitsuri didn't, which resulted Sumika to burst into tears from the loss of her godmother.

Some years later, Noa took the opportunity to become the new Love Hashira and kept her hair long and braided to honor her best friend. She'd even managed to take Sumika into her mentorship and trained her daughter into becoming a demon slayer as her tsuguko.

Makoto grew a little worried whenever he would watch his family train, but knew that Noa was capable of being strong as well as trusting her to keep their little girl safe. During the Final Selection exams, Sumika ran into a few demons that had her cornered, but managed to defeat those creatures with all her might with the help of her superhuman flexibility.

After completing the Final Selection exams, Noa eventually began teaching Sumika everything about Mitsuri's breathing style, which was also known as Love Breathing. Plus, Sumika even got herself a couple of training partners who were also known for their flexibility. Their names were Tsukimisa Sakuhime and Miyuki Fuyuko.

Ever since, the sudden motivation to protect Noa and everyone else was enough for Sumika's heart to go ablaze. Despite her merciful nature, Sumika would make sure that nobody would go through the same pain and fear ever again.
