Ophelia is easily my favorite movie right now. It's based on "hamlet" by Shakespeare. Hamlet is a story of a prince who was told by the ghost of his father to avenge his murder by killing the new king. What he doesn't know is the new king (his uncle) has a plan to kill him too. Now the movie "Ophelia" is from Ophelia's point of view, Hamlet's wife. She started as a child of the village but was taken under the queens wing. The queen raised her as a lady in waiting. She falls in love with the queens son, Hamlet. They run away to get married because it is not allowed. The king figures this out and plans to have her remarried. When she heard of this, Ophelia feigned madness to trick the queen and king. Before running away, she says "dig me up". She runs away with the queen chasing after her, and takes a potion a "witch" have to her. The potion will cause her heart to stop so people will think she is dead. She passes out in the pond (the picture in upper left corner). So there's a little backstory.

The upper left corner picture is actually a thumbnail sketch I did for a project in my art class. I have to do a surrealism portrait so I decided to do a sketch based on Ophelia but instead of actual hair, her hair is leaves.
