“Who is this Ken, Jimin?” Jungkook asked, his eyes affixed on the name written in corner of letter. He rolled the paper over and saw no other information of any sort.
“He’s Seokjin’s maternal cousin.” answered Jimin and he caught back Jungkook’s gaze who couldn’t put any of this letter man’s quite random characteristics for he never met him but reading this letter, it showed he was good close to Kim Seokjin.
“Do you know him?” the painter asked.
“Yes, we met on brother’s wedding since then never saw him. He was a lively and warm lad. Very close to our Seokjin.”
“Ohh, where does he live?”
“I don’t know much of him but before marriage, he used to live with Seokjin, and after that he went back to his town that I don’t know of.” Jimin yawned and laid his head on the bed and half sitting on chair. “Why are you asking of him so much? And before that, why did he write such letter to my brother? That letter we found in the garden—if it is written by Ken then what is the cause of adressing my brother as Taetae. He was never suppose to know and say that name.” Jimin sighed.
“Maybe he heard it from Seokjin’s mouth?”
“Seokjin never says this name in front of anyone, not even us only when he’s alone with Taehyung. I don’t know if he did know about this.”
And suddenly, “If he is trying to harass us!” Jimin snapped. “Seokjin’s family held a bitter face to us when their son committed this vile. They couldn’t bring themselves to accept their son’s profane act and blamed us for if we caused him any unwanted atmosphere here. I swear if they are on any idea of bullying us!” his eyes raged.
“Jimin-ah!” Jungkook whined at the loud voice used by Jimin. “Hush! Why they would do such? They lost their son, I don’t think they would do such.”
Jimin tamed too. “Yeah maybe. Even I don’t think of them behind this. Though they looked upset with us after death of our Seokjin but they are kind and forgiving people, honestly.” he shook his head denying his own earlier accusation.
“Then these handwritings matching and written by Ken—how will we put this all?” Jimin asked.
“Maybe it’s a coincidence. Maybe they are written by two different people.” Jungkook shrugged his shoulders.
“Let’s get a handwriting expert!” Jimin stated.
“I don’t know anybody who is a handwriting expert.”
“I know a pastor, who part time works for laws. It’s his speciality. We can go to him, he knows my brother very well, well whole towns knows on my brother for good, he is very kind... and shall help” Jungkook yawned at jimin’s words. “So yeah let’s go to him, morrow.”
“Okay morrow then, good night for now.” Jimin exited out for his own room.
---
“They are the same.” the pastor now the handwriting expert stated, his eyes confidence on his words. Jimin stared at Jeon who opened his mouth.
“You sure?”
Pastor long stared at young new man. “More than sure. The letter with no name written is being little anxious scribbles but that didn’t puzzle me for for being sure these both are written through same hands.
But the thing is...” pastor kept his magnifying glass aside. “What is the matter? You are Taehyung’s brother right?” he looked at Jimin, resting the magnifying glass on his chin.
“Yes I am his brother and nothing happened of any serious sort just my friend you see here beside me got this letter from his friend, which he had to confirm before taking it seriously.” he said. Pastor looked at Jungkook who agreed on lie nodding his head.
“Sir, please do not talk about this to my brother, he might get worried. This is nothing serious by the way.”
“Aah, don’t worry, I will not, however I don’t see your brother or cross path with him anymore. It feels like an eon since I have seen his good looking face.
I will make sure I won’t.” Jimin smiled freely.
“So now it’s done, I shall go back. Have a good day.” pastor smiled and left.
---
“How’s this man, Jimin? This Seokjin’s cousin Ken?” Jungkook broke the silence when they were in hoarse carriage, riding back to home.
“I’m not interested in him.” Jimin shrugged his shoulders, staring out of the window.
“Oh you brain cavity!” Jeon flicked his forehead, causing him to whine, “I am not talking about how suitable he is for you. I meant his etiquettes.”
“Well he has niceties, we met only for once. He was lovely and warm.” even if he could think of that guy for whole day, it shall then conclude that Ken really was a nice guy.
The road further was quite and long, breeze perfect serene. They couldn’t hold any conversations long for the journey to home was longer, and so drifted into their own thoughts. Jimin smiled to himself as he mindlessly stared out, a quick chuckle leaving his stretched mouth catching painter’s attention.
“What’s so funny outside, Jimin?” he asked, a tiny smile on his face too by looking at younger boy’s little eyes crinkling, he shook his head.
“Nothing, just reminiscing the time when I had few picnics with my brother and Seokjin.” His smile grew more genuine and contented. “Or I would say, I begged them to take me, coldly not caring if their small romantic lovely outings are disturbed by me. Brother would curse at me.” he giggled. “I loved being with them, they were pure, they were meaning of love.” the nostalgia on his face turned into pretty sadness with memories with specks of rust.
“We bring all good things on our small picnics. Seokjin’s cupcakes, jam sandwiches, violin, love to adorn our heads with the tiaras made by freshly plucked blooms. My paints, canvas for me but would ultimately be used by brother to paint his wife, my gossips that would be left unsaid because Seokjin had too much to say and my brother would listen to him all, my brother’s guitar sometimes poems written for Seokjin and his love. We had everything.”
Jungkook’s eyes turning down mirroring jimin’s disdained one. He looked at his lap, the smile alive for knowing how of beautiful couple Taehyung and Seokjin was. Their stories are pure to listen and would want to listen more but fears, the more Jimin or his brother recalls all this the more they break.
“I would give anything to have those times back. Anything it takes—but it never asks.” he whispered. His georgette shirt wrinkling under his gloomy hold.
“Jimin-ah.”
“I am fine. I tend to slip away from reality and live in memories, it’s lovely there.” he brushed it all and smiled as if he was really fine.
“You don’t have to open about the past with me–”
“I want to! I know you are here to help. I can sense it, you are for us! You shall help us, I don’t know how but I feel it strong.” his eyes shone taking Jungkook back as again as he would whenever Jimin says this.
“Too much expectation and you will be disappointed. Jimin do not look up to me that much, I have barely come to anybody’s help.”
“You are a simple man, practicing kindness. You would do something great by your bare minimum sort personality. Remember you just went to the riverside because you thought you could give your half bread to the fishes but ended up saving a drowning man!” he exclaimed it all in one breath.
“Jimin...” Jungkook sounded unsure and looked everywhere but him. “I don’t know anything.”
“I am willing to tell you all then. You have always said that something doesn’t feel right about the tragedy happened in our house, didn’t you? So now put it all in right places.”
“Jimin Jimin, even if things fall in right place after learning about the past but that wouldn’t bring Seokjin back. Taehyung will be the way he is now, broken, hidden.” Jimin took it all as bitter truth. In excited haze of trusting Jungkook with the past situation, he forgot that seokjin went at the place where people don’t come back.
“Just listen to me, Taehyung brother’s past. We will try and then in the end I will believe in time and lend it our wounds.”
“Tell me about the past then, tell me from where you stopped.” Young Kim nodded.
‘Seokjin and Soobin didn’t let their classes stay opened door, like it used to. They closed the doors and disallowed all maids to disturb them and practiced all unholy they did, might even learn piano who knows.
I snuck out in the garden to peep into the window of the piano room to check what are they doing but bad they shut the curtains.
I stopped talking to him then, totally cold to him. Stranding him alone. My gentle eyes wouldn’t dare to see into his more gentler one, as if all world’s innocence was found in that creature alone. He never looked like he had stained conscience and cheating on his loyal husband. Just as always pure beauty.
But, I didn’t fall for his soft voice, sweet kindness and beautiful presence. I just acted in the rudest way possible, leaving him with room of guilt and space to recall on where he is going wrong. Actually everywhere and biggest one is breaking my brother’s heart.
My heart vowed to hate him with all of me once when I saw Soobin on his tip toes in silent night with his footwear in hands, sneaking into Seokjin’s room. Taehyung was out again, far unaware from what has been happening behind his back.
I waited with the ugly feelings, hoping anytime Seokjin would dismiss such suspects on him and would yell kick that man out, would prove his innocence by screaming that man out or maybe silently shoo him away for his gentle way, and I would reconcile with Jinnie again, apologize him.
However, dawn came on my head and I stood on the stairs, my eyes red from sleep I refused and the bitterness in my soul. Everything turned true, lead to the way I avoided, ignored, feared.
How would speak of this to Taehyung? Should I? Can’t it just be delirious truth between me and Seokjin? Nobody shall be hurt this way.
But my brother’s love do not deserve this. He must know where his love is being wasted and mocked. The angel he brought home is but a fallen one. He should know. It would be unfair of him to be unknown from this.
How would be take all this? Not in any acceptable way though, the one he sworn to give his life to is being his criminal here. He would never be okay, not in this lifetime.
I wouldn’t dare to speak of this and then look into the purity of my brother’s eyes turning to devious darkness the one that he brings up after his kind, calm skin is shredded.
I don’t have any courage! I must speak of this to some mindful person. And it must be Namjoon hyung. He shall help majorly in this. He knows to maintain the strings of brother and shall calm him from atleast mental wreck if not the annihilation of Seokjin and his paramour.
He would break his wife into an uncountable pieces and then mend him into mismatched, never letting him feel his own soul ever again. This is how my brother is, ocean away from kindness and twist people till painful breaks whoever hurts him. I have seen his this side and I hoped it sleeps in him away by the pure presence of Jin but unpredicted, the purity shall awaken that sleeping destruction again.
I wouldn’t crush myself beneath this, I am not strong but Namjoon is. He would control him and besides Brother listens to him most after his wife.
I decided to speak of this to Namjoon who blinked his eyes in the most blank way, scratching his brow and leaning little down still not leveling to my height. He hummed. I excepted some confused, stunned expression but he was Normal and it all made sense when I said.
“I saw them too.” my mouth hung open. I stepped closer.
“What did you see, hyung?” I asked, knowing what he must have but still it slipped out of my mouth.
“I saw Soobin being there where Taehyung should be. My heart still aches to recall it. They were very close, against the tree, kissing when I was riding my way back here.”
“Why didn’t you speak of this to me or anyone before?”
“Jimin-ah I wanted to, but, um how should I? I have never talked about marital problems but business one. I would never know how to start.” he cleared his throat.
“But you have to now.” Joon raised his brows at me.
“Hyung might loose his mind, and regret it all. He looses his rationality, break everything, everyone near his touch. But, all could be saved when you shall reveal this.”
Namjoon stares at him unconvinced. “I don’t want to imagine how it would turn out. Can’t we just keep it secret as long as it as going?” he asked as he shook his head, his hairs unmoved from the styled back.
“Would turn out less damageable under your control. And my brother do not deserve to be with that cheater, I adored Seokjin but he can’t go on with this. Now agree on it, you never showed such attitude before on helping us!” I whined in angry, getting surprised eyes from Namjoon. I sipped my lips in, my cheeks red from sudden blurt.
He gave up. “Alright Jimin, I will talk to him.”
---
We sat there in the tavern very close to Taehyung’s work place and I couldn’t sit properly on my seat, wincing down into my sweater. The cheers of bulky rich people here, the clinks of beer glasses annoyed me as the pain in me and constrast of the atmosphere did not helped my wrenching heart.
“Good to see you both here. I hardly remember us having drinks together.” Taehyung walked to us, his smile giving me whimper. I wanted to hug my brother so bad. “Jimin-ah.” I tried looking into his eyes. “Why didn’t you brought Seokjin with you. Besides I see him rarely these days, I miss him dearly.” he sighed in longing. I held my lower lip from quiver.
A beautiful but coquettish man served us, eyeing us with his immoral eyes especially Taehyung, he was pretty though, but my brother never returned him even a single fake smile. “Go away, we are having our time.” he rejected him coldly when he decided to try befriend us, for it was his intention to seduce my brother. There were beautiful waiters and waitresses who were later used by bulky men present here.
I would dare say that my brother before marriage would use such undemure twinks for his young lusts. He loved to bring home beautiful men and throw them by morning but looking at him now being committed to his Seokjin and not lifting even a single lash on such men that he once was addicted to is pretty impressive.
“What is Seokjin doing, hm?” he asked again.
“He...” I couldn’t say anything. Words took a boat and drifted into the depth of the sea. I just shook my head, he saw my unusual quite state and chose to ignore me.
“He must be asleep.” Taehyung spoke to his own question asked. “When you go home tell him I will be to him at this Sunday, whole day given to him. I hope he isn’t mad, is he?” he asked worriedly.
“He is asleep, yes.” Namjoon answered when I couldn’t, smiling at Taehyung who returned one, while his eyes roaming onto me when I was jittering around flower vase on the table accidentally knocking it, spilling water. I bet my expressions ditto of low despaired mother in law tired of modern wife.
“He is not mad, no he don’t look like one. Just misses you alot, could have tried to roam for comfort in wrong way but he is yours for sure.” The elder Kim spoke whatever his mind wrote and tongue rolled. Every of his words confused Taehyung more, a very tiny puzzled smile on his face.
“You two are very different today, Shall we order some drinks, ey?” Taehyung noted but decided to ignore until we say it.
Except for Taehyung nobody took lovely sips of tasty beer. He was drinking his stress away. “I am not here alone, drink you two but after telling me what’s wrong? I know, your face says it all.” He thumped the glass on the wooden table. Perturbed by silence of us. He wasn’t enjoying the dead company of us two.
“Jimin.” my brother’s voice rung icily. “Start.”
And I broke down in my palms.
Taehyung snapped, his hands fisted. “What happened?—Seokjin?” he gulped hard. Already steady and alert.
“Yes he! Your ungrateful wife!” I removed my face out of palm and cried, earning attention of others. Taehyung stared at them for seconds.
“Did you two fight?”
“Would have been much better if it was but a petty fight. I could’ve forgive him right away. But he was beyond our expectation! He should not have things he owns. He simply do not deserve!” I wept, digging my face back into palms.
“Jimin!” Taehyung sterned. “Have problem? Dare look into my eyes and say it all. I don’t like your grame cries.”
“Oh you want to know? Namjoon hyung spit it out.” I angered. His mouth still cursing Seokjin.
“Jimin, no word against Seokjin. I will ground you.” I scoffed away from the protectiveness of Taehyung for his Seokjin. I would have laughed at him if Taehyung wasn’t my brother.
“Joon hyung, you tell what is the matter. Say it all, it is giving me anxiety.” Taehyung was tapping his foot anxiously as this certain problem was related to Seokjin and looking at the hiding eyes of mine had him on the edge.
“Please.”
Please God give my brother a firm heart and strong mind to take this news. Everything would have been in palms and less trivial if it wasn’t Seokjin.
Seokjin what did you do? Pushed away the love from Taehyung and called for his wrath.
