Chapter | 2

The towns light disappeared the farther I got into the woods, so weird how the forest doesn't have no light source on any path within my town to another. The sky darkens more and more as time passes me by. The brown tree trunks going darker in color, I grew frustrated after I searched for my flashlight inside the large basket I had on my arm.

"Cellphone?.....No." I pushed things around in order to find my flashlight, I found my phone, snack bars, a dagger and scrunches.

"Flashlight." I said pulling it out of my basket and flicking on the switch. I turned in a circle with the flashlight flashing in all directions so I can see my surroundings. The path towards the creek may be a little difficult to get to, seeing how the ground outside the path was beginning to match the rest of the my route.

I pulled my hood over my head and smiled, thinking of my grandmother and how she's doing good for an old lady who can still walk and bake. The light slowly dimmed since I looked up to see a full moon in the sky.

Maybe the legends of werewolves are true and I could get bitten. Never mind. I bet being bitten would hurt. Not worth it. Maybe I should walk faster.

"Alright, Scarlett we can do this. A quick one, remember this is for your grandmother." I reminded myself walking slightly faster down the path when I stopped as I heard the sound multiple leaves and twigs snapping in the distance.

"Shit. Come on. I don't need to be involved in the guys little pranks." I said trying to have an awkward laugh attempting to try and converse with the pranksters.

Then things got scary the second I looked to my left to see a pair of bright electric blue eyes staring directly at me. "Oh my gosh." I started to run along the path when I heard it's footsteps following me at a distance.

I breathe heavily as I use my track star skills to use. My hair bounces and knocks off my head, each step was a kiss with my feet and the ground. I was bolting my way towards the creek.

Then growls hit my ears, please don't kill me. I smiled in relief the second I heard the noise disappear the second I reach the creek. I take off my coat and lay it on my right side and take a breath.

In and out. In and out. In and out.

The oxygen circulating with in me as my heart slowly slows from in its previous race. I look up at the sky and watch all the stars appears. It's soothing and calms me down, just seeing all the stars align with one another even looking slightly scattered around.

"Beautiful stars." I look down across the large body of water and see the beautiful large castle. The castle of Lorechester, one of the biggest castles in the world. This beautiful castle was ancient, old and was told to be absolutely beautiful with every inch of decor. I always wanted to visit the castle just once to see if these so called legends are true.

"Just one day." I said just as a shooting ball of fire shot threw the sky. A shooting star.

For two minutes I sat down and just watched the lights of the castle and it's surrounding kingdom. It's funny how all the lights just go out one by one. From one side the kingdom goes dark except one room with a large balcony. Kings bedroom. I bet.

A twig snaps.

I stand on my feet swiftly and look behind me with the flashlight in my hand. In the distance there's a man, he's standing their with a model like facial structure and beautiful brown eyes. I just wanted to touch his face. My eyes widened in shock as he slowly steps closer to me.

He holds his hands up, "I'm not here to hurt you, I swear. I just wanted to know why your in the middle of the woods when it's pitch black outside and it's a full moon." He moves closer with almost every word.

"Why do you care? You don't know me." I said grabbing my dagger out of my basket and holding it with my right hand in defense.

"I'm sorry, this is strange. I fully apologized if I had scared you. There's supposedly something in the woods and I had to make sure you were okay. A beautiful girl might actually need protection once in a while." He spoke before I slowly lowered my dagger and put it back into the basket.

"Sorry, um...thanks for the consideration. I just needed to collect some berries for my grandmother's bakery. I know this may seem weird but can you stay? Weird things have been happening." I asked having a seat by the berry bush, and the man sat down next to me.

I pulled some hair behind my ears, "What's your name?" He asked.

"Scarlett, you?" I avoided eye contact of his beauty, or I'd definitely faint.

"Troy."

"I like that name." It's sexy. I smirk. "It suits you beautifully, I'm glad your parents gave you that name.

"Thanks, how about you hold the flashlight and I pick the berries so you don't end up cutting your fingers." Troy said pulling on my wrist and pushing it to the exact spot he needed to see clearer. He pulled the basket and wrapped everything in a small blanket before picking berries off of the bush.

"Not many nice people in my village, it's just so strange." I started a conversation.

"What do you mean, Scarlett?" Troy asked. His voice so deep and sexy made me slightly water down under my dress. I couldn't help but stare at him, stare into his brown eyes as he picked the berries for me.

"Well, besides my best friends. My village doesn't have people who say please and thank you. Especially in my grandmothers bakery, they just nod and give an attitude saying 'Granny you did an okay job.' I just don't like rude people, if someone's ever rude to me I just won't talk to them."

"Well maybe I should come to your village and deal with those people myself."

"Trust me, they don't listen to anyone. Even granny threatened to ban them from coming and they just continue their rudeness. It's kind of sickening at this point." I said leaning the flashlight on the basket so I could assist Troy with the berries for a faster finishing.

"Trust me, Scarlett. They'll definitely listen to what I have to say, and believe when I say if I talk to them they won't even look at you again."

"Your that dominate? Maybe I should be scared." I laughed as Troy laughed along with me.

"What's with this coat? I like it actually. The fur lining, and the silver or white color on the outside."

"Well this coat is old, it's been passed down through 4 generations I believe going on to me. My grandmother always said there was something special about this coat but I never understood it." I explain briefly while grabbing a handful of berries and placing them in the basket.

"Interesting. What village are you from?"

"Berxley. It's right just down this path. And how about you? Where are you from?"

"Lorechester. I usually come over here to admire the view or get away from my annoying household." Troy answered closing the basket as we seemed to have filled it faster then expected.

"I've always wanted to visit Lorechester."

"Why don't you?"

"One because my grandmother is slightly ill and is getting older by the minute. Two I don't have anyway to get there and three what would I go there for? I can't see the inside of the castle, legend has it the inside is ancient and absolutely beautiful." I explain staring directly at the castle, I turned back at Troy to see him staring into my eyes. He looked down only to grab my hand, his thumb rubbing against the center of my hand. So soft. I smiled before Troy pulled a strain of hair behind my ear and picked up my face.

"Scarlett, I-" He was interrupted by a man who wore a pair of blue jeans and an unbutton blouse. I could see every bit of his hair chest. "Sorry Troy, but we ran into trouble. It's near the town Thorneburn."

"You and the guys go, I'll meet you all there. I'm gonna make sure Scarlett gets home." Troy said standing to his feet and then assisting me.

Troy stood right behind me as we walked down the path as I swung my basket on my arm. I heard multiple noises and I know Troy heard them too but I was too scared to stop but a small part of my felt safe in Troy's presences.

I held the flashlight tight in my hand, I breathed in and out as my heart pounded against my chest hearing those foot steps. Until immediately Troy was in front of me holding an arm behind him tight with me in his grasp. Troy had punched something in the face and a body dropped. I turned around to see that man from before on the floor.

"Sorry, Troy. Don't kill me man, gosh darn you punch hard. The business from before it's getting worse, people are dying." He spoke as my eyes widened before my hand found his shoulder, he turned to face me grabbing my hand in the process.

"Go handle your business, I can walk from here. I don't need people dying." I stated.

"Scarlett, its dangerous out here. Those people will live trust me, right now my concern is making sure you get home safely." Troy's eyes never left me with any word he spoke. "Miles, bring as many people to safety as you can. I'll meet you there in a bit." Miles runs off back into the forest. How can he even see a thing? It's so dark.

I grabbed a hold of Troy's arm as he took the basket noticing my arms were hurting from the weight of all the berries. He pulls the basket off my arm and holds it. I can see as I look up he smiles.

"Are you smiling?" Troy's smile disappears. I stop him by jumping in the middle of the path holding my arms out. "I'm not going anywhere until you smile."

Troy shrugs his shoulders and picks me up by my waist and bends me onto his shoulders. "I have things to do, I need to get you home." I slam my fist on his back and it doesn't seem to affect him so I just give up and let him walk me.

After five minutes of walking were at Berxley. He drops me, "Where's your house?" I begin walking towards my house with him behind me and then I see Aster looking out his window watching me walk with Troy. When he realizes I see him he closes curtains.

I approach my house and I opened the door, I grabbed Troy's hand and pulled him inside. I walked to the kitchen and pointed to the counter and he placed the basket. I began walking to the door but Troy had so much speed in his actions.

His hands picked me up put me on the counter and his lips brushed against mines lightly like a tease. My body was burning and was demanding for his lips. What's going on? I slammed my lips onto his. What's gotten into me? He spread my legs apart as he continued the kiss. He pushed his body in between my legs while my arms wrapped his neck.

Troy pushed away, he stood frozen. "I'm sorry." He apologized.

"No it's fine." Troy began walking towards the door and I follow.

"Troy?" He turns to look at me and scratches his head in this very awkward situation. "I want to see you again."

His eyes widened in shock, your being very desperate Scarlett. "I do too. How about Saturday? At um...6?"

"Perfect." I said before waving bye closing the door behind me and holding my chest at the massive heat wave that's hit me once the doors close.

I cover my mouth as I slid down onto the floor, "I just kissed Troy."

I just kiss Troy.
