Chapter 14

[Aria's pov | A convenient store on 5th Street]

"Aria, we do not need that many bags of potato chips."

"Sasuke, you can never have too many potato chips."

Lunch was on Sasuke, and Sasuke is loaded. I'm taking advantage of that and milking him as much as I can. He knows what I'm doing too; I've done it before. He's going to let me get away with it, because that's just the type of friend he is. I'm glad. Not many people would let you clean out their wallet on potato chips and over-priced fruit cups. A girl's gotta eat, and so does her pig. Sasuke will be lucky if I share. I can't believe he forgot it was his turn to bring food. His clan is literally centered around remembrance. He sees something with his Sharingan, he remembers it with his Sharingan. It's that simple.

"Hm, fine. But you're sharing." Sasuke's tone was accusing. I put a hand over my heart in mock hurt. "Are you, Sasuke Uchiha, really questioning my kindness and willingness to share?" I asked in a sarcastically-offended tone of voice. Sasuke gave me a dry look, dropping our haul on the counter and thrusting his hand in his pocket in search of his wallet. "No. I would never." His voice was sarcastic and crude. To anyone else, the tone would have been seen as insulting. I, on the other hand, was used to his overall rude and cocky nature. He's an Uchiha. He's gotta live up to that name, yeah?

"Alright, alright. Just get our stash and let's go." I urged. The clerk, a teenage boy with was too much acne, smiled dryly at us in a way that was clearly faked. We carefully ignored him as he lazily scanned the food we'd snuck off campus for. "Where do you want to eat this time?" Sasuke and I had a game. Everyday we'd try and find a new place to eat at the academy away from Sasuke's fangirls. The game started a year ago when we got fed up with being stared at for prolonged periods of time. I was a pretty private person, and Sasuke even more so. We didn't like multiple pairs of eyes constantly following us. "We could try the attic again." Sasuke shrugged, handing the teenage boy the money owed. "It was locked last time." I reminded. Sasuke smirked, "We didn't have bolt cutters last time."

Sasuke and I tried not to crinkle our grocery bags as we vaulted the fence. Sasuke carried to food, and me, Canterbury. The pig was itching to dive into the fruit cups we'd gotten with him in mind. Fruit was his favorite, especially the kind dipped in that sugary syrup that most canned fruits sit in. "Anyone in sight?" Sasuke asked gruffly. "No, but I hear Sakura and Ino around the corner." I mumbled back, landing softly on the dry dirt. "Great." Sasuke scoffed. Was darted for the shadows the side if the building cast. I heard a loud cough.

"What're you two doing?" It was Naruto Uzumaki. He and I are on okay terms. I feel bad for him. While I escaped the bullying, he did not. I still get weird looks, flares and whispers, but people don't hide their dislike for him. I try to be as nice as possible to him. He's loud and sort of obnoxious, but he's also really nice, and really determined. "Hn, why do you care?" I don't know why Sasuke and Naruto don't like each other. As depressing as it is, they're both orphans. We're all orphans, the three of us. We should be tighter than this.

"We're going to eat lunch! Wanna come?" Sasuke's head snapped in my direction, his eyes narrowed. I smiled sweetly at the blonde, who lit up like a light house. "Really?! Like, really really?!" He asked excitedly. "Not so loud." Sasuke snapped, but he didn't object to Naruto joining us. He knows I'll give him shit if he doesn't let Naruto joined. Canterbury let out a squeal, his tail unwinding and winding as Naruto stared at us. His blue eyes were wide and watery. "Yeah, come on! We've gotta hide from Sasuke's groupies though." I informed. He lit up brighter.

"I know the perfect spot, believe it!" He told us. His voice, will exuberant, was hushed. "Hn?" Sasuke grunted questionably. Naruto ran over to us, looking excited about sharing his secret spot. "Come on, I'll show you." He urged. I turned to look at Sasuke, and he turned to look at me, and we shrugged. "Alright. Let's go.", I offered a grin to the short blonde. I was only an inch or taller than he was. Naruto gave a grin so bright that the sun would be jealous before turning around and darting around the side of the building. Sasuke and I followed, Canterbury letting out something equivalent to a honk.
