Chapter 1
[Third person pov | Woods]
Kakashi was tired. He was tired of going on missions day after day, and he was tired of being tired. All he really wanted to do was sit down in his warm house, out of this cold, harsh weather so he could read his book.
But of course, that wasn't an option. It couldn't be, right? I mean, he was a ninja, a loyal servant to his village. He was one of the best, resting wasn't much of an option for him. Even if the war was over, they still had to be on guard. They didn't have many allies other than Suna, and they weren't to reliable.
Sighing, Kakashi continued walking forward. But a smell caught his attention, and familiar smell. He was close to Konoha, but that wasn't where the smell was coming from. No, this was the smell of a fire, a camp fire.
Kakashi's guard shot up and he jumped into the trees silently, his ears and eyes open. He slowed his breathing. He could sense a large chakra that was uncontrolled, untamed. It was crazy, as if it were trying to escape the body it was in.
Creeping forward, Kakashi didn't even flinch when an anbu appeared behind him, holding a kunai to his throat. He glanced back at the man. Of course the anbu would be on this, he wouldn't be surprised if every ninja in the village could sense this. He was ashamed he hadn't picked up on it sooner.
Scolding himself for getting lost in his thoughts and blocking out the feeling, he nodded slightly to the anbu who nodded back, removing the kunai. "Situation?" Kakashi asked quietly. "There seems to be someone inside a hollow tree trunk, seeking shelter from the cold. We don't know what to do, we can't tell who it is." The anbu replied quietly.
Nodding, Kakashi turned and began towards the sight. He could feel the many anbu surrounding this small clearing. And by small, he meant it was only about ten feet wide or so, not big at all. Right at the edge was a huge tree with a smallish hole in the bottom looked to have been made by some sort of animal.
Kakashi lifted up his headband, revealing Sharingan. He squinted, trying to get a better look at whoever was inside. However, he could only see their haywire chakra which was so potent he was surprised it wasn't visible.
He could hear a faint sound coming from inside, like music. It sounded as though someone had headphones in their ears, and had them up full blast. He blinked. Perhaps it was just someone with a large chakra. He doubted the enemy would be blasting music through a pair of headphones.
Pulling down his headband, Kakashi turned towards the anbu to his left. "I'm going in." He said. "That's a bad idea, Kakashi-san. We don't know what we're up against." An anbu replied quietly. "Well we're about to." Kakashi muttered, entering the clearing with a hand on his weapons pouch.
"Hello?" Kakashi asked hesitantly. He almost jumped when he heard snarling and some strange... snorting sounds? He blinked when what looked like a baby pig, one that was all black, emerged from the tree, standing right in front of him and snarling.
Kakashi could've sworn he heard some of the anbu snickering.
'Well, at least it most likely isn't a enemy.' Kakashi sweat dropped. He blinked when he heard a quiet whistle. Glancing back, the small, angry animal receded into the tree back to who he assumed was the owner of the small creature.
"Hello?" He called again. He heard the music stop and he heard shuffling. "I'm not going to hurt you." Kakashi assured. There was a noise, the noise of someone moving towards him. Soon, a little girl emerged, she looked maybe nine even though her body was small and tiny.
She stood, picking up her pet pig and staring at him with her big blue eyes. Her blueish purple hair was dirty, full of twigs and leaves as well as a good amount of mud and dirt. She only wore a dirty, over-sized white shirt. What really got him were her pure black headphones. They were plugged into... well, her neck... and he could see there was a headphone jack there to.
"Hello there." Kakashi started kindly, crouching down. "My name is Kakashi Hatake, what's yours?"
"I am Aria, and this is Canterbury."
Her voice was a mere whisper in the wind.
