Volume 5 Epilogue

(3rd Person POV)

Immediately after the battle of Haven, Weiss was swiftly taken to a doctor to have her unborn baby tested. Everyone waited in the room with the Ex-Heiress, who was in a hospital gown and on the bed with her hand on her stomach. On each side of her, Blake and Cassie were, providing emotional support. Lazarus however was extremely quiet, more than usual. He sat in a chair next to her bed, his face in his palms. His heavy breaths were all that were heard in the room along with the beeping of the heart monitor. Ruby and Olympia were by his side while the others stood near the door or outside of the room; Seraphim was the furthest, as she was still an outcast in the group. Finally after an agonizing, seemingly long wait, the doctor entered the room, holding his clipboard.

Doctor: "We have the results of the test, Ms. Schnee."

Weiss: "Is my baby alight??" She sounded desperate, pleading, though the sudden negative change of the Doctor's face was disheartening.

Doctor: "I'm sorry... You're baby has not survived."

Dead silence... Just an unsettling silence filled the room as all occupants displayed shock and horror. Lazarus, who still haven't said anything up to this point, immediately got up abruptly and left the room in complete silence just as Weiss began hyperventilating, seemingly having a panic attack. Before she stopped and let out a cry of absolute despair, anger and dread. She was immediately hugged tightly by her feline teammate as the others in the room remained dead silent with looks of dread. Olympia and Ruby had tears in their eyes while Cassie's eyes threatened to shower. Qrow, who was outside had his arms crossed before he took out his flask, sighing and then taking a drink. Azealia who was by his side, rubbed his arm in a state of comfort, though her face showed all the emotions she was feeling. Seraphim on the other hand, was heartbroken. She hugged herself, crying softly, thinking that she was responsible.

Lazarus had left the hospital entirely. He couldn't bear to hear the sorrowful cries of his lover. He couldn't stay in that room after hearing the unfortunate news. With the winter times coming around, it was snowing outside. Lazarus had sat himself down in the snow, leaning up against a tree in complete silence. The frigid winds blew through his snow white hair and against his horns. He didn't feel cold, considering his blood vampiric-Godzilla was continuously keeping him warm. His nails dug into his skin, drawing very small amounts of blood and his head hug low, resting against is knee. He was robbed of his chance to have a family, and that alone, was enough to bring tears to his eyes before he began to weep softly and all by himself.

A few days after and Teams RWBY, JNR, LCOC, Ichigo, Keqing and Belfast were in the living room of their Mistralian house, preparing for their next move; the last three had decided to join, since they were also concerned about the threat that they witnessed. Though the group was in a much more worse state than before. Lazarus was extremely quiet and void of all emotion while Weiss would still cry every now and then. But today she was trying to be strong. Azealia, who was standing next to her son, had suggested everyone to give the couple space for them to sort it out themselves, which they agreed to do.

Ruby: "We need to take the relic to Atlas?"

Qrow: "That's what Oz said."

Keqing: "Atlas... I haven't been there in a while." Immediately everyone looked at Weiss as she was sorting Dust Cartridges in her Weapon Case before looking shocked.

Weiss: "You've got to be joking..."

Nora: "I mean bright side, we finally get out of this house." Weiss just sighed as Cassie and Cassandra snarled at the thought.

Cassie: "Atlas... Tch..."

Qrow: "Well, trust me I'm not crazy about it either but without the Spring Maiden here to seal it back into the vault, it's our best option." Upon mentioning the Spring Maiden, Olympia held her chest. Being Spring's Guardian, she could feel the Maiden's life, though barely from how far apart they were.

Olympia's thoughts: "Where are you, Raven...?"

Ren: "Atlas maybe the safest kingdom at the moment but its boarders are closed. General Ironwood called everyone back."

Ichigo: "Well, we still have one place we could go to get to Atlas."

Qrow: "Yeah. The city of Argus is ways north of us and it's the primary trading port between Anima and Solitas. They've got the largest Atlas military base outside of the kingdom. There's no way they'd leave it abandoned and if we play our cards right, I think there's a good chance we can convince them to escort us straight to Ironwood." He said as his scroll projected a map, showing Argus.

Blake: "Well we DO have the missing heiress to the Schnee Dust Company."

Belfast: "I don't think like where this is going..."

Weiss: "EX-heiress actually. "

Yang: "True, true. But if there's a chance at reward money, I saw we go for it."

Weiss: "Ugh..." She rolled her eyes, however her lover was definitely not taking the comment well.

Lazarus: "Not funny Yang." She fell silent, hearing the clear venom in his voice as he glared daggers at her. Yang never saw him like this before, in fact no one has ever.

Yang: "Right, right. Sorry..."

Ozpin: "Hopefully, the first option will suffice." He said as he entered the room, along with Seraphim. However, Cassie immediately glared at the Battra-Hybrid who looked away in response.

Qrow: "Glad to see you feeling better."

Ozpin: "Likewise. And while I'm sure we could all use more time to recover, I'm afraid time is of the essence."

Blake: "Right. As long as that thing's out in the open, its power could fall into the wrong hands."

Jaune: "So uh... Speaking of, what does it do, exactly? Qrow never really told us." He questioned, looking at the mystical lamp. Qrow just looked at Ozpin as he turned around to address them.

Ozpin: "Of course." He held up the Relic as it grew back to its normal size. "The Relic of Knowledge has an incredibly power and dangerous ability. Its user can ask any question and the lamp will provide an answer."

Keqing: "Amazing..."

Ren: "Intriguing..."

Blake: "That's... incredible."

Ozpin: "Indeed. However, it is not without drawbacks. The lamp cannot tell you of events that are yet to happen and it will only ever answer three questions, every 100 years."

Yang: "Well, I guess that's not so bad. Adds a lot of pressure though."

Cassandra telepathically: "And add to the fact that we now have all FIVE Guardian Beasts here, yeah. A LOT of pressure." She crossed her arms

Nora: "Then let's put it to a vote! *zips to Ruby causing her to stiffen up* What should we ask it first!? *zips to Qrow, causing him to spit out his coffee* Oh! *zips over to the lamp* Can we ask for more questions!? CAN WE ASK FOR MORE QUESTIONS!?"

Cassie and Ren: "They're not wishes..."

Ozpin: *chuckles* "I'm afraid you won't be able to ask it anything at the moment. The questions were used before I sealed it away." He warily watched as Nora walked away, upset and she mocked him.

Ruby: "Well... at least we now know what it is. And we'll be sure to keep it safe."

Jaune: "Alright, well what about her?" He pointed towards Seraphim who remained completely silence.

Blake: "You guys said, she's Laz's sister, right?"

Cassie: "Tch... Last time I checked, Sisters don't kill their brother's friends."

Belfast: "Ms. Cassie, please..."

Olympia: "Cassie, she risked her life like the rest of us to save her brother when Shin was in control. Just give her a chance!"

Cassie: "A chance? A CHANCE!?" Her tails rattled in an agitated manor as she glared down the Mothra-Hybrid. "That bitch KILLED you! She's caused me so much mental pain and she nearly killed Ruby! And you just want to forgive her for all of the shit she's done!? For whatever reason do you think is that a good idea!?"

Blake: "Because there is always strength in forgiveness." She immediately snapped towards the feline Faunus who walked up to her. "We've both done terrible things in the past, even hurting others but look at us now, we've been forgiven for our past actions. I did the same with Ilia. And you can too with Seraphim, especially since Olympia had already done so."

Cassie's tails stopped rattling as she had her fists completely clenched. She stared at Blake, before glancing over to Seraphim, whose expression expressed complete understanding for her hating her.

Cassie: "You know... something about hearing you of all people saying that to me... hurts me more than it should..." The Ghidorah-Hybrid looked back at the feline, sighing before she walked away. Blake knew that she still held a grudge against her for leaving, so she sighed sadly and went after her.

Ichigo: *sigh* "She really doesn't let go of grudges easily... That's unfortunate..." He sighed as he shook his head and pocketed his hands.

Ozpin: "Ms. Branwen, may I ask you something?" She nodded, gripping the edge of her skirt with her hands. "What will you do now?" Seraphim looked away, unsure but thought of an answer.

Seraphim: "I know I don't belong here... especially since I've caused you all so much pain... But to be honest, I have nowhere to go. I don't want to go back to Salem, and Aunt Raven left as well... I guess, I'll I have left to do is make it up to my big brother, for all I've done. If you'd have me that is..." Everyone immediately looked over to Lazarus, who was still quiet. However, he slowly got up and walked over to his sister. She flinched, expecting some kind of punishment, but was surprised to find him hugging her.

Lazarus: "You did bad things in the past... But the truth is, you're my sister... I cannot give up on you. So I'll give you a second chance."

Seraphim: "Bro..." Tears were already in her eyes, however more begun to fall from her eyes as she embraced him back, crying softly into his shoulder.

With Blake, she was still looking for Cassie, but finally, she found her in the room she had, her arms crossed under her breasts as she sat on her bed, looking down.

Blake: "Cassie?" She was silent, leading the feline to think that she didn't want to talk to her. So she turned to leave, until...

Cassie: "Why...?" Blake paused, gasping lightly as she heard her voice call out for her. "Why did you leave me...? Why couldn't you trust me...? We promised each other we'd be together forever... that when something was wrong, we'd talk to each other... But instead of talking to me, you ran... you ran and left me all alone to deal with all of the emotional pain..."

Blake's heart was filled with guilt upon hearing her voice. Tears began to reveal themselves as her ears flattened. But she knew she didn't have an excuse this time.

Blake: "I... have no excuse... When I ran, I thought I was doing you all a favor, but in return, I just hurt you more... And I'm sorry. I am deeply sorry, Cassie. I just ask that you give me one last chance. I promise I won't ever leave again."

She placed her hand on her chest, showing that she was completely genuine about her words. Cassie remained quiet for a short while, before she stood up and looked at her, her tails resting on the floor.

Cassie: "I want to give you that chance, Blake. But right now, I feel too broken and conflicted with my emotions. I would like some time, to repair before I accept you back. If that's okay...?" She looked away while Blake felt her heart pain after hearing those words, but she understood and released a small sad smile. She approached her and placed her hand on her cheek, making her look at her.

Blake: "It's okay. I'll wait..." For the first time since their reunion, Cassie smiled back and placed her hand on Blake's

Cassie: "Thank you."

>>Later<<

Inside her room was the Ex-Heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, holding up the Combat Dress she wore, which was still stained in her blood. She sighed and looked down to her stomach, spotting the scar she obtained that night making it her second scar. She remembered the moment she started feeling the symptoms of her pregnancy, which nearly made her tear up, until a knock on the door caught her attention.

Lazarus: "Weiss?" She gripped the dress she was holding tightly before sighing.

Weiss: "Come in." The door clicked open, revealing Lazarus. He closed the door behind him and released a sigh. "Oh Laz, is there anything you need?"

Lazarus: "Well it's my room too. I just wanted to be away from the others, is all..."

Weiss: "Oh... right..."

With that the couple entered a silence with them sitting on either side of the bed, facing away from each other. Out of everyone, they were both the most affected from the night's outcome.

Lazarus: "I'm sorry." This caught the Ex-Heiress by surprise as she looked at him.

Weiss: "For what?"

Lazarus: "For not protecting you..." Her eyes widened, as she saw his face, tears in the corner of his eyes and his teeth grinding against each other. "I should have known, the signs were all there... The morning sicknesses, the mood swings, your strange appetite... Yet I allowed you to come with us... And when it counted, I failed... I was too slow to save you and our baby... I'm... I'm...-"

Weiss: "Stop!" She immediately hugged him, putting an end to his self-blaming. She dared not to let him go, as she felt his tears falling onto her shoulder, but she felt her own soaking his shirt. "It wasn't your fault... It was mine... I should have told you immediately... I should have listened to you and stayed behind... And I let myself be vulnerable in that fight... If it's anyone's fault, it's mine..."

Lazarus: "...Then I guess it's both of our faults..."

Weiss: "Yeah... And we'll take responsibility for our mistake and press forwards... Together." She sat on his lap and looked at him, her arms and legs wrapped around his neck and waist.

Lazarus: "Together."

They two shared small, yet saddened smiles as they pressed their foreheads together and closed their eyes, upon feeling peace with each other.
