(Cassie's POV)

After last night, I've been emotionally unstable and drained... But thankfully, Ruby never left my side...

Ren: "We should probably get moving."

Jaune: "Yeah, yeah..."

I slowly awakened with a massive headache and with me feeling really dizzy... I've been like that since last night...Then I heard violent coughing, which caused me to sit straight up immediately...

Cassie: "Qrow..." It seems as if Ruby either heard me or the coughing as she got up and ran over to her uncle's side. He was leaning against a tree as he coughed violently and held a hand over his wound, but when he removed it, it revealed his hand to be a purplish color. Ruby gasped.

Cassie: "I knew it... Scorpion stingers usually have something in them... Poison..."

Qrow: "Well... That's unfortunate."

"YOU JUST HAVE TO RELIT IT."
CHAPTER 8: KUROYURI

(Ruby's POV)

Ruby: "Just hang on Uncle Qrow." I pleaded. Currently, Jaune and I were carrying my sick uncle on a made-shift stretcher we created as Nora walked behind us and Ren and Cassie walked up front, with their weapons out.

Qrow: "Tai... she's not coming... Tai..."

Cassie: "Hallucinations... Damn it..." I heard Cassie curse under her breath. She was probably blaming herself for this...

Ruby: "How much farther?" I asked the two up in front of us.

Nora: "We've gotta be close."

Ren: "Without the map, there's no way of knowing."

Cassie: "Yeah. I wonder who had the BRILLIANT idea to throw the one form of guidance we had." She complained, obviously hinting towards Jaune, who simply looked away. This was showing that Cassie was still holding something against Jaune from last night... But something was strange about her... I don't know but she seemed... off...

Ren: "But I feel like we're getting close to something."

Suddenly, he holstered his Stormflower, spotting a signpost ahead before rushing towards it. Cassie quickly followed, her Chōetsu-tekina Ten still in hand.

Ruby: "What is it?" I asked before noticing that there was a fork in the road ahead of us. Nora too rushed up to the sign.

Nora: "Hey, hey! Mistral! We're on the right path! Oh..."

Ruby: "Does it say how close!?"

Cassie: "Nope. Just what we needed..."

Ren: "It looks like the path takes us up the mountains."

Jaune and I set my uncle down before joining the others.

Jaune: "Guys, I don't know if all of us can make that climb."

Nora: "What about you Cassie? Can't you fly Qrow to Mistral?"

Cassie: "I mean, I can, yes. But only if you want him to end up with an infected wound that will 9 times out of 10 kill him from the wind reopening it." She said, while stabbing Chōetsu-tekina Ten into the ground.

Ruby: "Okay, well how about this place?" I pointed to the left side of the right side of the sign. "Kuro... Kuroyuri? Can we get help there?"   

Ren: "That village was destroyed years ago."

Cassie: "Well if you have a better idea, we're all ears. But the mountain and flying is off limits for Qrow."

Ren: "It will take too long."

Ruby: "Maybe Kuroyuri had a doctor! Maybe we can scavenge for medicine!"

Jaune: "Right!"

Ren: "We're not going to find anything! We just have to press on!"

We all fell silent, hear Ren's sudden outburst... Jaune slowly approached his teammate.

Jaune: "Ren, why are you acting-"

Nora cuts him off while standing next to Ren.

Nora: "We can split up. Ren and I can cut thought the mountains while you guys take Qrow around through the village."

Jaune: "No, we're supposed to stick together! We can keep each other safe."

Nora: "We don't have time for safe! If we make it to Mistral, we'll bring back help! If we don't, at least we'll have a better view of the land! Up there, we can see if there's somewhere else we can go!"

Cassie: "Alright." We all looked at Cassie, who walked up to them. "But you're not going alone. Ni! San! Get out here!"

She summoned her two dragon whips who grew to their normal size before levitating next to Ren and Nora, respectively. However, after Cassie summoned them, she coughed...

Cassie: "Have Ni and San be your extra eyes... And if you ever need to break something, you know what to do Nora." Nora smiled at Cassie

Nora: "Thank you, Cassie."

Jaune was still hesitant but gave in and walked up to Ren before hugging him.

Jaune: "Okay... Just take care of each other."

Nora: "We always have."

Ren nodded to Nora's statement as Ni and Kevin roared in agreement. Jaune and I picked Qrow back up before watching Ren, Nora, Ni and Kevin trek up the mountain path as me, Jaune and Cassie continued down the one to Kuroyuri, with Cassie leading with her Chōetsu-tekina Ten in hand.

Ruby: "They'll be fine Jaune. They even have Ni and Kevin with them."

Jaune: "You don't know that..."

He was right... I didn't know that... I looked down before looking at Cassie, who just continued facing away from us as we continued down the path. I just looked down again before

Cassie: "I won't let them die..." I looked back at Cassie, only to see her tightly gripping Chōetsu-tekina Ten. "I won't fail again... I promise Ruby... Ren and Nora will be safe... Qrow will still be here with you... I won't let anything happen to them..."

Ruby: "Cassie..." I was shocked to hear that, but smiled at her, even though she didn't see. I glanced at Jaune, only to see him shocked before looking away with guilt, obviously still regretting about the things he said to Cassie last night...

(Cassie's POV)

Finally after walking and walking followed by MORE walking, we finally arrived at Kuroyuri... Or what's left of it at least... And for fuck sakes, this headache is just getting worst!

Cassie: "Ren said it was destroyed... he wasn't kidding..."

Jaune: "I can see why he didn't want to pass through here."

We looked around before Ruby sighs.

Ruby: "Come on."

We continued into the village, but for some reason, I couldn't get this sinking feeling out of my stomach... Something wasn't right...

Ruby: "Any of these places look like a pharmacy?"

Jaune: "It's... honestly hard to tell."

Ruby: "Ren really didn't want to come here, did he?"

Jaune: "Uh... didn't seem so."

Ruby: "Do you know... why?"

Jaune: "*sigh* I think I have a pretty good idea..."

Cassie: "His home town..."

We stared around for a bit longer before setting Qrow down

Cassie: "We should split up. It's faster to search that way."

Ruby: "Yeah, we should split up and look for any medical supplies"

Cassie: "You two do it. I'll stay behind and guard Qrow."

Ruby: "Are you sure?"

Cassie: "I am. Besides, if something does happen, I'll be able to get him out quickly without causing anymore damage to him."

Jaune: "I don't like the idea of one of us staying behind." I crossed my arms and glanced at Jaune.

Cassie: "Well either one of us does it, or we leave him completely defenseless, for any Grimm to maul him up. You choose, 'Mr. Strategist'."

It was obvious I was still angry at Jaune. He looked away dejectedly before facing me again.

Jaune: "Look, Cassie... What I said-" I cut him off.

Cassie: "Save it for after we save Qrow."

Ruby: "She's right." She said, causing Jaune to look away. She then turned to me. "Keep him safe, Cassie."

I nodded before picking up Qrow and dragging him to the wall of a nearby building as Ruby and Jaune split up to search the village. When I finished dragging the poisoned Qrow, I coughed as I suddenly felt dizzy and stabbed Chōetsu-tekina Ten into the stone ground before leaning against it, panting heavily...

Qrow: "You got hit too huh...?"

I glanced down at Qrow who was somehow conscious, despite his condition. I scoffed weakly.

Cassie: "It's nothing compared to you..."

Qrow: "Maybe so... But your still suffering... Probably just as bad as me, considering on how poison affects you..."

(Flashback)

When Tyrian lunged his stinger at me, his eyes glowed purple. Just as San froze it with his ice breath, the stinger pierced my Aura and injected some poison into my blood stream before I ripped his tail off.

(End of Flashback)

I scoffed. Ghidorah Hybrids May be weak to poison but this was nothing...

(I know it's not canon in the Godzilla universe, but considering GMK Ghidorah is physically weaker than others, I'd assume he can be affected by Poison. Through I'm not saying GMK Ghidorah's weak at all. So please don't kill me, ReaderGodzilla )

Cassie: "I was a part of the White Fang once. Poison is nothing new to m-me..."

Qrow just stared at me before rolling his eyes with a sigh. I attempted to keep standing, but just gave up and sat down next to Qrow. I sighed, feeling the poison in my blood stream before looking at Qrow.

Cassie: "Hey..." he looked at me curiously. "You still have that Flask on you?"

Qrow: "*confused* Uh... Yeah? I do."

I can't believe I'm about to do this...

Cassie: "Can I take a swig of it?"

Qrow: "Wha? You? Aren't you-"

Cassie: "Shut up, I'm 18. I'm legal."

I could see him hesitate but he sighed before taking out his flask and handing it to me. I unscrewed the cap before taking a swig. It tasted how I expected it to taste like... Alcohol... I finished and coughed a bit before handing it back to Qrow.

Cassie: "Drinking your problems away... Maybe that will be the way I go out... Pathetically fitting for someone like me..."

Qrow: "Would you quit whining already?"

I looked at him, only to see him slightly annoyed at me. He sighed.

Qrow: "Things went bad. You watched your teammate die and you lost your leader, my son. I know how it feels to be helpless, trust me. But, you still have a lot to live for. Aren't you that Belladonna girl's girlfriend?"

Cassie: "After everything that happened, that's a really fragile way of saying that..."

Qrow: "Well girlfriend or not, you still have her to return to. You have your red haired friend of yours back in Patch as well. And you have everyone else. Especially Ruby. If you were to just give up and live out the rest of your life, being miserable, then Ruby's sure to get pissed off. And trust me, it's not a pretty sight when she gets pissed."

I just looked away...

Qrow: "You may think it's all pointless... But I've seen that flame of determination in your eyes before Cassie. And it's still there. You just have to relit it."

Images of my friends flashed through my mind... Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora, Ren, Yang, Weiss... Ruby... all smiling and laughing with me... Before I saw my teammates... Cassandra... Olympia... Lazarus... All with comforting smiles on their faces... Then... Blake... Her amber eyes were filled with tears... yet she smiled at me... That smile that I missed for so long... And right after her... I saw her.

"Mom..."

I clenched my fists tightly and slowly stood up, using Chōetsu-tekina Ten to support me as electricity sparked through my eyes...

Cassie: "I'll... *grunts* protect them... No... matter... what!"

Qrow: "*smiling* Good... Welcome back, Cassie..." I heard him say as I looked back down at him, only to see him fall back unconscious...

Qrow... Thank you for bringing me back...

Finally, Ruby and Jaune returned before grouping over next to me and Qrow, the latter still unconscious after our last conversation.

Cassie: "Anything?"

They both shook their heads negatively as Ruby sighed... Suddenly, there was a hellish shriek that sent chills down my spine as Jaune drew his weapons and turned around.

Cassie: "What the hell...?"

Ruby: "It's far off."

Jaune: "We know, but Ren and Nora are still out there."

Ruby: "I'm sorry..."

Jaune and I looked the silver eyed girl, confused as she stared down.

Cassie and Jaune: "Huh?"

Ruby: "This is all my fault... I should have never dragged you guys into this..."

Cassie: "Don't say that Ruby."

Jaune: "You didn't drag us in. We wanted to come."

Ruby: "But you didn't know about Tyrian, about-"

Jaune: "Ruby. We lost... we lost Pyrrha, you lost her too; and Penny, and Olympia, and your team and in a way... your sister... And your brother/cousin as well. But you're still here, despite everything you've lost, everything you could still lose, you chose to come out here. Because you felt like you could make a difference. You didn't drag us along... you gave us the courage to follow you."

Cassie: "Exactly." Ruby looked at me, with visible tears in her eyes. "When Beacon fell, I fell into a dark state... I just wanted to do nothing and live the rest of my days out, as the world crumbled before us... But the moment you said that you were going to Mistral to save Haven Academy... I felt a new reason... and that reason, was to go where you went. Even after all of the people you lost in your life, you still pressed on, something I still struggle to do to this day..." I smiled at her.

"You're courage is what got me to come with you. And I couldn't be any more thankful Ruby. Because now, I can help prevent the world from falling into complete Chaos. And become The True God of the Sky, King Ghidorah."

Ruby smiled at me before bringing me into a hug.

Ruby: "Thanks guys."

Suddenly, the moment was ruined by a loud shriek, one that sounded exactly like the one from before, only much, MUCH louder... Jaune and I got our weapons ready, only to see Ren and Nora bolting towards us with Ni and San by their sides.

Ruby: "What are you guys doing here!?"

Jaune: "Did you hear that noise? What was that!?"

Ren suddenly dropped to his knees as his face grew more and more horrified...

Ren: "No..."

Cassie: "Ren!?" Ni and San suddenly began to roar agitated. "What is it boys!?"

Ruby: "Ren! What is it!?"

Then the sound of plodding footsteps could be heard, coming closer...

Jaune: "Wait... you guys hear that?"

Ren: "No..."

Nora: "Ren?"

No answer from him again... All he did was slowly looked up to see IT... a black ghostly horse with white armor plating and red eyes with a limp human body on its back. It suddenly twitched until it uncomfortably and hellishly rose up to reveal a slender body, with abnormally long two fingered arms and a devilish head with horns, glowing red eyes and mouth with black strands connecting both jaws together and multiple arrows protruding from its slouching back...
