Rejected, he had been rejected!
John entered the tavern by slamming the wooden door, alerting everyone of his sour mood. Nobody had ever rejected him before and he could not believe it!
Everyone walked away as he walked through the tavern to his chair in front of the fireplace, with the exception of his best friend, Lemar.
"What happened, John?"
"It would be better if you asked me what did NOT happen! Y/N did not accept my proposal!" He growled.
In addition to Lemar's, some gasps were heard in the tavern.
"You shouldn't feel so down like that, you could have any woman in this village!" He pointed to some girls, making John look at them. One look was clearly enough to make them melt on the spot.
He shook his head, "I don't want another girl, I want Y/N! She's the one I want to marry!"
"Then you must not give up," Lemar pointed out, "she will surrender if you continue to be just as you are: the bravest man in this village, the strongest, adored by everyone!"
Several men raised their glasses, agreeing with shouts.
"Well, I suppose so, I deserve more credit," John smirked, looking around, "thanks, Lemar, I needed the encouragement."
Once again the door opened with a crash, making everyone startle, not only at the noise but also at the state in which Tony was. Dirty, with heavy eyes of fatigue and torn clothes.
"Help, please help," he barely managed to speak, being supported by one of the villagers, "she got Y/N!"
This caught John's attention, "who got Y/N?"
"The beast!" Several villagers burst into laughter in answer to Tony's shout.
"A scary beast?" A man scoffed, making Tony agree.
"With horns and sharp fangs?" Another continued, again making the man nod.
More laughter sounded around the place, "what are you laughing at? My daughter is in danger! She is trapped in the castle!"
"Castle? We're in the middle of nowhere, Tony, have you gone completely mad?!" A waitress mocked.
John's eyebrows went up at the word. Mad.
You would have no choice but to marry John if your father was crazy. He would have you in his hands if Tony was sent to a madhouse.
With a wicked smile, he stood up, "don't worry, Tony, I'll help you."
"Oh, thank you, my boy!" Tony sighed with relief, with a smile, "come on, we don't have time to waste!"
John shook his head, signaling to some men in the tavern who quickly understood what they were supposed to do.
Two men held Tony, who looked around without understanding what was going on.
"Keep him locked up somewhere until I say otherwise," was his last order before the men dragged a screaming Tony out of the tavern.
The blonde man sighed, smiling to himself.
He had a very important letter to send.
