Beauty and the Beast
"You came back," Agatha murmured once again, as if she couldn't believe you were really there. But you were.
You held her hand tightly, squeezing it as if your hold was going to keep her there, in your arms. As if you could stop the inevitable. You couldn't help sobbing when you realized that, unlike other times, her hand was cold.
"Of course I came back, I will never leave you again," your voice broke a little, tears burning in your eyes but insisting on not falling.
"I think it's my turn to go," the witch stroked your cheek with her free hand.
"No, we're together now, you'll be fine," you said, more to yourself than to her.
"I just wanted to see you one more time... and I did it," Agatha sighed for the last time and smiled weakly, before her expression softened. Her eyes that before looked at you with such affection, now were empty, without any emotion.
Without life.
The realization was like a punch to your stomach, leaving you breathless as heavy tears fell from your eyes.
"No... please don't leave me," you pleaded, as if she could still hear your voice, letting your head fall on her chest.
You didn't see the last petal come off its stem, but when the castle trembled one last time, everyone knew it was too late.
Monica, who was flying to make sure all the invaders were gone, was the first to fall to the ground, her wings and her eyes closing. Darcy tried to run up to her, but soon her gears came to a complete stop, knocking her over as well.
"Did you see Tommy and Billy?!" Wanda cried out in distress, with Vision beside her, "they ran out and I didn't-"
Jimmy saw their eyes close, too, and then the cups came running, "Mommy! Daddy!"
His flames went out and the last thing he saw before everything went black was the cups freezing, like everyone else.
You also felt like you were freezing while holding Agatha's face in your hands.
"Please... I love you," the words escaped your lips, words that you wished with all your being to have said before. You closed your eyes, leaving a sweet kiss on Agatha's forehead.
Your eyes only opened when a strong light illuminated the place, enveloping Agatha in golden dust and lifting her off the floor. You stood up too, but without taking your eyes off the woman for a moment, although the brightness prevented you from seeing her fully.
She was then placed upright on the floor as the dust cleared, but with her back to you.
"Agatha?" You called her, praying it wasn't a dream.
She turned quickly, showing you that she no longer had the marks on her hands. No claws, or fangs, or horns either. But she was still the same one you remembered, her face, her smile, her beautiful blue eyes.
You should be the one most surprised, but her eyes comically opened when she saw you. At a different time you would laugh at her silly expression, but at that moment you could only throw yourself into her arms. Feeling Agatha holding you back was the best thing you've ever felt in your life.
"I thought I lost you," you told her, lifting your face from her neck to look at her, "I thought that-"
Her lips prevented more words from leaving your mouth and your eyes closed, feeling her soft lips kissing yours, making a shiver go down your spine and butterflies fly through your stomach. No, that was definitely the best thing you have ever felt in your life.
Agatha only stopped kissing you for a second, to whisper "I love you" on your lips, before joining your lips together again.
You were so immersed in each other's affections that the noises of the castle rebuilding itself didn't even reach your ears. You could feel the sun finally touching your skin, but it was nothing compared to Agatha's arms around your waist. The warmth of its rays that melted the snow couldn't get anywhere near the warmth you felt in your chest.
When the lack of oxygen made you part, voices caught your attention, well-known voices. Your eyebrows went up and she giggled, holding your hand and guiding you out of the castle.
As you passed through the door, everyone looked at you in amazement and admiration. You could recognize some of them, but it was definitely different than seeing them as objects.
Jimmy was the first to react, bowing, "my princess."
Agatha shook her head before hugging him, "my friend."
"You know, I never doubted you even for a second," Darcy said, holding Monica's hand, who rolled her eyes playfully.
You giggled, hugging them both, "I'm sure of it."
A puppy ran past you and two children came after him, but they stopped as soon as they saw you.
"Y/N! It's us!" Billy shouted, throwing himself into your arms, followed by Tommy. You laughed holding them, and as you looked ahead, you recognized Wanda and Vision smiling at you.
The castle gate was still open and soon the people from the village started to enter, still a little uncertain, but as they started to recognize the castle's inhabitants and recover their memories, uncertainty became happiness. And in the midst of the cheering crowd, your father approached you with a tight hug.
When you both let go, he and Agatha stared at each other for a few awkward seconds.
"So-" the two spoke at the same time, laughing out loud at their timing.
"I don't think I ever introduced myself properly," she said, "I'm Agatha Harkness."
"Delighted to meet you, I'm Tony Stark," he bowed.
The sun continued to rise on the horizon, bringing life back to the forest and illuminating the beginning, or rather, the restart for all of you.
But even if this was just the start, when Agatha held your hands and kissed your lips once more under the sunlight, you had no doubt that you would live happily ever after.
The end.
