Chapter 3- The Servants

You looked yourself up and down in the mirror, a dress adorning your form. You felt so fancy in the outfit, until your stomach let out a loud rumble.
"I must be hungrier than I thought," you said to yourself, making your way towards your bedroom's door, hunger overpowering the urge to change back into your normal clothes. "Forget waiting for dinner, I need food now."
As you exited the room, you walked towards Winry's door, deciding to invite her on your expedition as well. Opening her door, you walked into the room to see her talking to what would normally be inanimate objects. Only said objects were talking, and moving. All of them turned their gazes to you. Silence ensued and no one moved.
"U-um h-hello," you stuttered.
A candelabra hopped towards you confidently.
"Your name is (Y/n), right? Allow me to introduce myself, and the other servants. My name is Roy Mustang, but you may refer to me as Roy, or Colonel if you prefer. The clock over there is Alex Louis Armstrong, the teapot is Maes Hughes, and his daughter and wife are the sugar holder and teacup, the feather duster is Riza Hawkeye, and the rag-doll is Sheska."
(A/N- Couldn't think what Riza or Sheska should be, so just roll with it.)
You looked around the room as Roy talked, observing who was who. The clock, rather than being a small, tabletop clock, was large, and clunky as it moved. It also had what looked like a small thing of blonde hair, as well as sparkles around it.
(A/N- Had to XD)
"It is a pleasure to meet you, miss (Y/n)," the now named Alex exclaimed, making his way over to you. He shook your hand furiously when he reached you.
"Y-yeah, you to." You didn't even have time to process what was happening as a small tea set made its way over to you. In the lead was a tea pot with little glasses, followed by the sugar-holder, and the little teacup.
"I'm Maes Hughes, but you can call me Mr.Hughes. This is my lovely wife Gracia, and this is our adorable daughter Elicia!" The teapot happily introduced his family. The tiny teacup hopped closer to you, looking up at you curiously.
"You're pretty!" The little girl told you. You blushed at the compliment. You had some self esteem issues occasionally, so you tended to get flustered by compliments. Elicia was, as Mr.Hughes had said, adorable, and adorable when giving compliments.
"Th-thank you," you said, flustered.
The feather duster known as Riza, followed by the rag-doll Sheska, moved towards you to introduce themselves formally. Sheska was dragging a book behind her, struggling due to her small size. You stepped forward and picked up the book for her.
"I can carry this, if you'd like," you told her, looking down at the title. '(Favorite book).' Your eyes widened and your face lit up. "I love this book! I've read it so many times!"
The ragdoll looked up at you surprised. "Do you like reading?"
"Ask the stack of books I absentmindedly brought with me," you replied sarcastically.
"There's a whole library here, but they won't let me do anything in there because I end up reading instead of doing my work," Sheska sighed.
"C-can I see it?" You questioned, anticipation growing.
"Sure! I can show it to you after dinner! Are you going to be wearing that?" She asked.
Your facial expression changed to one of nervousness. "W-well, I don't think I want to go to dinner. But I am rather hungry, and I'm not sure how much longer I can wait for food."
With perfect timing, your stomach gave another rumble.
"I'll show you to the kitchen," Riza sighed, making her way to the door. You and Sheska followed behind her.
"(Y/n), can you bring some food back with you?" Winry called after you.
"Sure thing!"
Riza led you down the halls. You ended up carrying Sheska so that she could continue reading as you walked. You perfectly understood the pain of not being able to continue a good story. You observed the scenery of the castle as you had done when you had first arrived. It was a cool place, and you had always wanted to live in a castle.
But you would have preferred the circumstances to be different.
"So, this Edward, what's he like? Is he always as mean as we saw him?" You asked the two servants.
"He does have a bit of a temper, as you saw. Don't call him short, whatever you do. But he can be quite kind when he wants to be," Riza told you.
You hummed, more questions surfacing.
"And his brother, Alphonse?"
"He's nice. He can be sensitive, and closed off occasionally. But he's really kind, even if the armor he," Riza paused, thinking for a moment. "Wears, makes it look like he's big and tough. He's more like a gentle giant, and is a lot calmer than his brother."
Your curiosity had peaked, and it ended up getting the better of you.
"How can someone that big have a voice so high pitched?" You asked, not meaning to do so out loud.
"There are reasons, but we're not allowed to discuss them."
"Oh, I didn't mean to say that out loud. Sorry," you apologized.
"It's fine, (Y/n)," Riza told you.
You looked down at Sheska to see her completely absorbed in her book, and you grinned. Silence ensued for a while before you asked your next question.
"Why does he wear that armor?"
"We're not allowed to discuss that, either."
"Oh."
The silence continued to linger until you reached the kitchen. Delicious smells emanated from the room, and your mouth watered.
"You can have anything from the pantry or in the kitchen. Actually, you could just take a dinner plate back to your room, or eat the food now," Riza told you.
Another rumble from your stomach decided you would eat immediately. You grabbed the plate and wolfed down everything on it.
"Thif is delifous!" You said with your mouth full. Very ladylike indeed.
When you finished after a few minutes, you stood back up and grabbed a second plate.
Sheska finally looked up from her book, noticing you were in the kitchen, and that you had already eaten all your food.
"You probably shouldn't have anymore, you ate a lot in a short time," she warned.
"This isn't for me. Remember Winry asked me to bring her some food? Well I'm not going to disappoint her. You're gonna have to walk back yourself, Sheska," you started walking towards the hall, carrying the plate waitress-style.
"I'll lead you back to your room then," Riza moved ahead of you. All of you proceeded back to the room, but you were interrupted on the way there.
"WHAAAAAT!?" A great uproar rang through the castle, and you quickly attempted to hide behind curtains in a doorway to an unused room.
Peeking out, you saw Edward running down the hall leading to the rooms you and Winry were staying in on all fours. Clanking noises soon followed as Alphonse ran after him, then some of the servants came after him.
"Ed! Calm down!"
You remained still, listening in on the situation. Loud pounding echoed from the hall with the rooms.
"I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO COME TO DINNER!" Edward shouted at Winry's bedroom door.
"I'm not hungry!" Winry shouted from behind the closed door. You knew she was lying, she just didn't want to have dinner with him.
"Brother, calm down," Alphonse advised.
You carefully set the food down on the ground where it wouldn't be touched, and creeped to the turn leading to the hallway. Hiding behind more curtains, you peered around it carefully to watch.
"But she's being DIFFICULT!" Ed groaned angrily.
"Ask her to come eat calmly, FullMetal," Roy told the angry golden-furred creature.
Edward groaned, then tried again. "It would give me great pleasure, if you would come to dinner. Please."
"No!" Winry shouted.
You smiled slightly, knowing she wasn't going to budge from her stubborn decision.
"Fine!" Ed shouted. "If you're not going to eat with me, you can just STARVE!" He turned towards the group of servants and his younger, armor-clad brother,"If she doesn't eat with me, she doesn't eat at all." He charged back down the hall, and you were glad you had hidden as he ran right past you.
"Brother!" Alphonse groaned, metal clanking as he ran after his hot-headed brother. He didn't see you either.
You stayed still for a little trying to estimate when you could finally come out of hiding.
"Nine hundred ninety three," you whispered. "Nine hundred eighty six, nine hundred seventy nine..."
Riza and Sheska came into view and came over to you, hearing your whispers.
"W-what are you doing, miss (Y/n)?" Sheska asked quietly.
"Counting down by sevens from one thousand. You know, to see how long I should wait until I think it's safe to come out."
(A/N- Of all the Tokyo Ghoul references I could have choosen, I choose that one. *bangs head repeatedly on table*)
"You should be fine to come out. When Edward gets angry, he tends to sulk in his room," Riza told you.
You came out from your spot, moving quickly to go get the food you placed down earlier. When you had it, you went back to Winry's front door. As you tried to open the door to bring Winry her dinner, Alex stepped in the way.
"Master Edward said she's not to eat unless it's with him," he stated blatantly.
"Well I don't care what he said, Winry needs food. Plus, you wouldn't like her when she's hungry. She gets all grumpy and snaps at people, and sometimes starts cussing people out and," you trailed off with more reasons Winry should get the food. Some of them just popped into your head, but you just went along with your thoughts.
"Just let her bring her the food, Armstrong," Roy eventually cut you off after nearly a minute.
Alex gave you a suspicious look for a second, then started being...sparkly.
"Such dedication to your friend! Bringing food to her even when ordered not to! I admire such a bond greatly!" He appeared to have tears of admiration in his eyes. It was honestly kinda creeping you out.
"Th-thank you," you stuttered, opening the door and taking the food in.
Winry was lying on the bed, turned away from the door and looking out the window.
"Go away."
"I did not sneak this food up here just so you could tell me to go away! You are gonna eat this food, and like it!" You sarcastically ordered.
Winry quickly sat up and turned around, apologizing, "S-sorry, I didn't realize it was you."
"It's fine, you have a right to be pissed at everything at the moment," you told her. "Just be glad I got the food before Shorty McSpazzy said you couldn't have anything."
Winry chuckled slightly at the name you'd given Ed, starting to eat the food on the plate. In a matter of minutes, everything on it was gone.
"So, what should we do now? I'm not feeling tired at all," Winry said.
"I don't know about you, but I'm gonna go find that library," you stood up and walked toward the door eagerly. "You could go and explore the rest of the castle if you want to."
"That sounds good to me," Winry stood up and followed after you.
When you opened the door, the servants were waiting outside. They all looked up at you with curious looks.
"Um, would some of you mind giving me a tour of the castle?" Winry asked them. Roy and Alex nodded, already starting to walk down the hall. Winry soon followed after them.
You looked down at the little ragdoll. "Sheska, would you mind showing me to the library?"
Sheska's eyes lit up immediately, and she started skipping down the hall. "Of course I can!"
You smiled, following after the excited doll with an equal amount of excitement.
"How big is the library exactly?" You asked.
"It's huge! I've never seen so many books in my life! They range anywhere from fantasy to horror to nonfiction to manga to supernatural to art books to..."
Your conversation continued, and you grew more and more excited as you walked along. It sounded so amazing, you couldn't wait to see it.
