Jack was holding my hand as we watched the Titanic sink. The only thing that could be heard was... drilling?.. I slowly open my eyes hoping that I'm not waking up and away from the young Leonardo DiCaprio. No hate to him but I just think he looked better in Titanic than he does now. I mean he just doesn't have that boyish look anymore. There's that drilling again!
Hopping up I left my plain room, we painted the room white so I could figure out what I wanted to paint and we took out everything I didn't want. So the whole room is bare except my bed.
I head to the boys' rooms to see if they're in there but with no luck. I head down stairs taking two at a time. I look in the living room and find Declan playing his new game on the Xbox with a headset on, Jordan was nowhere in sight. Following the noise I walked outside to see a bunch of people digging in the backyard and Bennett sitting in a lawn chair- that I didn't know we had -watching them dig up our yard.
"Hey." I tapped his shoulder getting his attention. "What are they doing?" I point to the people currently digging a big hole in the yard.
"You didn't know?" He looked confused before understandment took place. "I told Jordan to tell you that the pool was being put in today."
I nodded getting it, then I looked at him confused. "The pools being put in today?"
He nodded turning back around. "Yes, I believe that's what I just said."
I rolled my eyes going back inside. I plopped next to Declan and watched him play his game. His nose would scrunch up when he died and when he was really concentrated his tongue would peek out, he was just so cute. I heard movement and turned around. There sat a pouting Jordan in the corner. I wonder what's wrong with him? "Declan." No answer. "Declan?" Still no answer. He was so focused on his game he didn't hear me calling him. I picked up part of his headset and yelled "DECLAN!" He jumped and fell off the couch.
He sat up and stared at me like I was crazy. "Naomi! That was my ear! And you made me lose my game!" He yelled at me as he held his ear.
"It wasn't my fault," He was probably going to say 'how is it my fault' but I beat him to it. "I called your name two times." I crossed my arms lazyly looking at him.
He nodded, sitting next to me and starting a new game. "Oh yeah, what's up with him?" I point to Jordan's sad figure with my thumb.
"I don't know, he's been like that since this morning." Declan paused his game and stood up. "I'm going to make a sandwich, do you want one?" He looked down at me.
"Yeah can you cut it in half please?" He nodded as he left for the kitchen.
Getting up I walk over to where Jordan is. I stop right in front of him. "Jordan?" He looked at me from under his eyelashes and for a moment I thought I could do something I've had the urge to do for so long and just kiss him. But I shook myself out of it and asked the question I came here to ask "Is something wrong?"
"Yeah.." He nodded as a sigh escaped his lips.
"What's wrong?" I sat next to him and leaned forward to get a better look at his face.
"I'm going to have to do more school work.." Another sigh escaped his lips as he folded his arms.
I blinked and then I blinked again. "So you're telling me that you just realized that going to college meant you had to do more school work?" He nodded as I looked at him as if he grew another head with no eyes. Declan walked in then.
"I'm surprised he even got into college, just look at his report card." He handed me my sandwich and a napkin before going back to the couch.
"You know I replaced my report card with your's." Jordan stuck his tongue out at the back Declan's head, Declan just gave him the finger without turning around. I chuckled as I placed half of the sandwich on the napkin and handed it to Jordan. He immediately took a bite and gave me a closed mouth smile in thanks. I smiled back glad to make him happy even if it's just half a sandwich. I took a bite for myself.
The back door slid open and Bennett walked in heading to the kitchen. "Hey, Bennett?" I took another bite.
"Yeah?" I could hear him moving stuff around.
"Can you bring me a half and half sweet tea please?" I leaned forward to get a better look at his bent over figure in the fridge. His ass- No, don't go there Naomi! He walked into the living room and over to where I am.
"I would ask why you're sitting on the floor behind the couch eating half a sandwich with Jordan, but I don't wanna know." He handed me my tea before walking back to the kitchen.
I shrugged, opened my tea and took a drink. I set it down and leaned forward to see what Declan was doing. My head whipped to Jordan as I heard the sound of someone twisting off the cap of my tea. Jordan was taking a drink staring right at me. I closed my eyes. I opened them to a wide smiling Jordan. I took my tea back and placed it on the other side of me away from Jordan. I leaned forward again to see what Declan was doing, he was texting someone. I moved forward more to see who he was texting. Declan turned to me and hid his phone raising his eyebrow at me. I smiled and sat back down and leaned over to watch Jordan play a game he made on his phone. Out of the corner of my eye I watched Declan glance at me every now and then but other than that he went back to what he was doing.
He was texting someone named Riley, sounded like a girl. Declan said that other than me, his mom, and Delilah he didn't talk or even have any girl friends. I had this feeling in my stomach and soon realized it was jealousy.
I was jealous. I. Was. Jealous.
I grabbed the napkin Jordan used and set it on my plate. I stood up and took one more drink of my tea before handing it to Jordan, "Here you can have it." He stared at me for a minute then shrugged and went back to his game. I grabbed my plate and headed for the kitchen. As I passed the couch I saw Declan look at me from my peripheral vision. Entering the kitchen I go to the sink and set the plate down before setting my hands on either side of the sink.
I don't know why I'm jealous. I shouldn't be jealous. I mean I know why I'm jealous, it's because I like him. But he doesn't know that. Or I hope he doesn't know. If he knew about my feelings and he felt the same way he would tell me, right? What if he knows and he doesn't want to tell me that he knows because he doesn't want to hurt my feelings? What if- "Naomi your phones going off!"
Declan pulled me from my mind vomit. I will silently thank him and curse. "Okay, thanks!" I guess I left my phone down here yesterday.
I walked to the living room and passed Declan and Jordan doing whatever they do on their phones. I picked my phone up and smiled at the names that flashed on the screen. Sang. There was a photo of us when first met as her ID picture. "Hey."
"Hey, what's up?" I heard splashing in the background.
"Nothing much, but it sounds like you're having fun." At least that's what I got from the 'wahoo' I heard.
"You can hear them?" Her laugh filtered through the splashes of water I'm guessing.
"Yeah."
"They wanted to go swimming and they dragged me along even though I said I wanted to read today." She sighed before yelling. "No! Stop that! Luke put that down! Corey, make him stop!"
Which was followed by 'I can't!' and then there was a big splashing sound before Sang yelled out "Now you don't get to sleep next to me tonight Luke! Marc it's your turn!" Which was then followed by a 'Yes!' and an 'NO! I'm sorry Sang!'
"Anyways, I told Gabe I was going to ask you to hang out and he insisted that he takes you on that shopping trip." She said more calmly.
I laughed at how she was all but yelling a minute ago and now she's as calm as a cucumber. "Actually that's perfect, I'm redoing my room so I need to go shopping anyways."
"Okay coo, I'll tell Gabe and then we can go and pick you up. If that's okay with you?"
I smiled at her nervousness. "Yeah, I'm okay with that."
"Okay just text me your address and then we'll come pick you up around say 12:30?" I could hear the excitement in her voice.
"It's a date then." Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jordan and Declan glance at me from behind their phones.
"Okay, bye." She laughed.
"See you later." I hung up and texted her the address.
"So.." Jordan drawled, setting his phone against his chest.
"So.." I repeated not looking up and continued texting Sang about where we were going to go.
"Well I heard you say date." he raised his eyebrows.
"Oh yeah. I have to get ready for that, thanks for reminding me Jordan." I got up and patted his shoulder on my way to the stairs. I was at the top of the steps when I heard someone get hit, "Ow!" So Declan hit Jordan. "Great going dipstick." Declan grunted.
"Sorry." Jordan's sigh made me run to my room as quickly and as quietly as possible, I didn't want to hear anything more than I already did.
I know when to listen and when to get my butt out of there.
I grabbed some jeans and a white v-neck t-shirt before I hopped into the shower. The warm water relaxed my muscles and I couldn't not sigh from the feeling it gave me. Getting out of the shower I dry off and wrap a towel around my naked body. I wiped off the fog on the mirror and looked at myself. I was fairly skinny and my skin was mostly clear, my hair was longer than I usually want it but I didn't mind it.
Shaking my head at myself I get dressed and try to french braid my hair. Which was a huge fail! Groaning at my lack of not being able to braid my hair by myself, I take a brush for the now nest on top of my head and four rubber bands. Running downstairs I stop in front of Declan and give him puppy eyes pointing at my hair.
"Alright sit down." He rolled his eyes but still had a smile. I smiled and handed him the brush still holding onto the rubber bands so they don't get lost, I sat down and enjoyed the feeling of him slowly brushing through my hair. "What type of braids do you want?"
"French braids." I smiled watching what they had on the TV. It was Lost Boys, the movie. Declan always brushed my hair softly so to not hurt my head, which I found super sweet and every time I had a nest of hair and couldn't brush it out easily I went to him. He's been practicing doing hair on me so when Delilah's older he can do her hair, which was another awwing moment. When my hair was brushed through I could feel Declan run his fingers through my hair, I always loved this part and I couldn't stop the content sigh that left my lips.
He'd run his fingers through my hair until he thought there were no more knots or until he felt like stopping. He started braiding my hair and pulling really tight, I never made a sound when he'd pull my hair like this. Plus it always looked amazing afterwards. He held his hand out over my shoulder and I handed him a rubber band. The snapping of the rubber band hitting itself was heard all around the room.
"Naomi how come you never let me do your hair?" Declan snorted just as Bennett did. I rolled my eyes, still watching the TV and handing Declan another band.
"Jordan I don't trust you to do my hair."
An audible gasp was heard coming from him. "What! Why not?" I could already see him crossing his arms looking grumpy.
"Because you might damage my hair, who knows what damage it would be." I handed Declan another band. I could physically feel him pouting and looking sad, without my permission my mouth blurted "I mean you can practice braiding my hair but you have to promise to not burn my hair, cut it, and or somehow get a chunk of it off my head. Got it?"
"Yes I more than get it!" Declan finished my hair and I smiled thanking him, though he didn't look too happy now. I turned and my lips met Jordan's.
At the same time our eyes became as big as the moon. I pulled back out of reflex and gaped at him. His mouth opened and closed like a fish before he spit out "I-I was gonna kiss your cheek I swear!" His cheeks were as red as a fire hydrant and I wasn't too far behind. I opened my mouth just as a honk went off outside and a ding came from my phone. "I have to go." I grabbed my purse and got out as quickly as possible, when I got in the back of Sang's car she turned to me looking concerned "Are you okay?"
I nodded "Yeah just drive." She nodded, obviously not believing me. As we pulled out I saw Jordan run out the front door but stop and watched as we drove off. All I could do was lean my head against the window. I closed my eyes and sighed quietly under my breath. "Okay fess up. Nobody sighs like that unless something's happened." I guess not quite enough.
