Chapter 23 : Sang
The room was quiet unlike it was for the past couple days. My parents and Bennett's siblings were here almost all day, waiting on us hand and foot. Now any other day I would have been up for it but I was tired, needed to talk to the boys, and did I mention that I was tired?
Bennett thankfully yelled at them to get out and then went to bed. It gave me time to think over what I'm going to tell them when we talk. I was nervous and excited all in one! I felt like a bubble getting ready to burst. If I'm being completely honest, I'm a little scared. What if they don't like what I have to offer? What if Declan doesn't agree? I should talk to him first.
Out of all them he's the only one who hasn't told me how he felt. I was spiraling with my thoughts but was brought back by someone whispering my name.
"Naomi?"
I looked up and met mossy green eyes. I tilted my head and whispered back, "Sang?" She stepped into the room, closing the door behind her gently. "Are any of the guys with you?"
"No." She shook her head moving to stand next to my bed.
My eyebrows rose in shock. I was surprised when she picked me up for my date and she was alone but I can't picture them letting her come to a hospital alone. "Did you come here by yourself?"
She nodded, looking me in the eye she muttered "I need to talk to you."
"Okay." I nodded scooting over so she could sit next to me. Her eyes flicked over at Bennett and I answered the unspoken question. "He's a deep sleeper, if you wake him up he won't do anything except point a Nerf gun at you." She looked at me confused. I shook my head, "Another time, you wanted to talk to me."
"Yes." She nodded getting settled beside me. "I um.." She whispered the last part so low I couldn't hear her.
"Sorry, I couldn't hear you." She whispered it again but I still couldn't hear her. "Could you speak up please?"
"I'm pregnant." She yelled. In sync we both looked at Bennett as he stirred. We let out a deep breath when he rolled over and his soft snoring filled the now quiet room.
I looked back at Sang and studied her. Her hair was a mess compared to its usual neat and fashionable style and her eyes were slightly dull with light bags underneath them. Though you could tell something was off just by her eyes, you wouldn't be able to tell by her clean and neat clothes.
"Does anyone else know?"
She shook her head, her fingers coming up and pushing her lip between her teeth. "You're the only one I've told."
Nodding I look her in the eye, "Are you sure you're pregnant?"
"I don't know." She shrugged her shoulders, fiddling with her fingers. "I missed my period and I've been feeling weird."
"Do you know who the dad is?"
At this her cheeks turned pink and she shook her head looking at me sheepishly. I giggled putting my arm around her shoulders. "That's okay but have you taken a test yet?"
"No but I brought one with me, I didn't want to do it alone." I nodded and stood up.
I held my hand out giving her a reassuring smile, "Come on then."
We walked to the bathroom connected to the room and I waited outside. She called my name when she was done and I leaned against the door frame watching her put the tests on the counter. She did two just to be sure.
"I'm scared."
Sighing I nodded, "That's understandable, we just have to wait and see."
She looked at me panicked, "I want to finish college, I want to travel, I want to do so many things! How am I going to do all those things with a child? I want kids in the future but not right now!" She was crying. I sighed holding her head to my chest.
"I can't say it will be okay because I'm not going to give you false hope, let's check the tests and then we'll cry from the positive or the negative that shows okay?" She nodded walking to the counter and peering at the test that holds her future.
She turned to me confused. Sang's usual confused face was adorable but right now she looked older than she really was. I felt my heart sink as I looked at her. "What do they say?"
"I-I don't k-know." My eyebrows furrowed. I stopped leaning against the door frame and grabbed the box the tests came in.
"Plus sign means pregnant, minus sign means not. Are they plus or minus?"
She looked at me with panic clear in her eyes, "Both."
Still with furrowed eyebrows I step forward and look at the tests. I set the box down and pick them up not caring they could have her pee on them, my hands are washable. One has a plus sign while the other has a negative sign. I'm confused..
"I don't know," I set them down and start washing my hands. "I think you should go see a doctor and find out for sure."
"I can't see Sean, he'll be mad I didn't come to him first." She starts washing her hands after throwing the tests away.
I shake my head leaning against the door frame yet again, "If you knew- or you think -he was going to be mad why didn't you go to him first instead of coming to me? Not that I'm not flattered that you trust me enough too!"
"I guess I was scared and when I was thinking of who to go to, you were the first person to pop up." Her lips formed a soft almost ghost of a smile as she dried her hands. "I've always wanted a female friend who I could come to, to talk about my boys, problems I don't feel comfortable talking to the guys with yet, someone I could trust and share all my secrets with." She looked at me and there was a sparkle in them. "I got that when I met you."
"Don't make me cry." I rubbed my nose giving her a playful scowl. We laughed together before calming down. She looked to the ground and hiccuped.
Wrapping my arms around her I whisper even if there's nobody here. "I wanted the same thing and I got that the day I met you too."
"You stole that from me." She laughed and rubbed her nose.
I smiled patting her shoulder, "Of course! I couldn't think of something better than that right now." She giggled wrapping her arm around my waist loosely. "I know I couldn't possibly begin to understand what's going through your head right now but know I'm here if you want to talk about it. I still think you should go see a doctor and I really do think you should tell your boys, I'm sure they'll understand why you came to me first and if they don't you can come live with me and I'll kick all their butts!" Her laughter sounded like it was under water but she laughed non the less!
"I'll keep that in mind."
I pulled away and met her eyes, "You should tell them, you don't have to see Sean to find out if your really pregnant but if I was one of them I would be mad if you didn't tell me sooner rather than latter, I would question if you truly trusted me and the other's."
She nodded giving me a quick hug, "I'm going to tell them when I get home, I'll call you when I find out." I nodded and walked with her to the door. She opened it before turning to me and squeezing me in a hug. "Thank you, thank you so much."
"Your welcome, but I can't breath!" I tapped her arm laughing. She pulled away, blush covering her cheeks.
"Sorry." I nodded pointing to the hall. "Go home and tell them Sang." She nodded, flashing me a smile before running down the hall. I chuckled watching her. Shaking my head I close the door behind me and walk to my bed. I was just getting in when a voice startled me making me trip and hit my head on the plastic railing.
"You're a good friend."
I groaned and started rubbing my head as I sat up and glared at the pale boy in the other bed. "Thanks, you really know how to be subtle when surprising people."
"It's what I do best." He smiled before actually looking concerned. "Is your head okay?"
I stopped rubbing it and nodded, "It will be."
"Sorry." He muttered scooting over and patting the space beside him. "Come sit."
"Sure thing boss." I rolled my eyes moving to his bed. I sat down and started moving around to get comfortable. I glanced sideways at Bennett and almost scoffed at his raised eyebrow, Feeling something hard poking me in the back, I reached down and grabbed onto it. I pull it out and raise an eyebrow at the Nerf gun. I didn't actually think Declan got him a Nerf gun.
I cock it back and shoot the wall before blowing the imaginary smoke coming out the end.
"That's not how you shoot it."
"You get to tell me how to shoot a real gun, you don't get to tell me how to shoot a Nerf gun too." He scoffs, rolls his eyes and then takes the gun from me.
"If you can't shoot a real gun then you shouldn't be shooting a fake one either."
I scoff taking the gun back, "And who came up with that nonsense?"
"I did." He huffed, reaching over to take the gun again.
"Of course you did." I mutter putting the gun above my head as high as I can. "It makes no sense! If I'm not shooting a real gun then it shouldn't matter because it's basically harmless!"
"The key word there being basically harmless, it's still harmful." He grunted, turning and reaching above my head for the toy.
I scoffed leaning back, "I'm not going to shoot someone in the eye! I'm not that bad of a shot." I mumbled the last part still trying to get it out of his reach.
"Yes! Yes, you are!" He grounded out, finally getting a hold of the gun. I still had a hold on it so I locked my fingers and tried to get him to let go. "Just give it to me!" He groaned as he straddled my lap and got a better grip on it. I leaned over so the gun was on the right of us and was off the bed.
"No!"
"Just let go!"
"Never!"
"Gosh you're so annoying! Just give it to me already!"
"NO!" I yelled. I locked my figure in the trigger hole and let out a war cry. My figure accidentally pulled the trigger when the door opened. Both me and Bennett froze staring wide eyed as Jordan crumbled to the floor holding his crotch.
"Agh!" He groaned and started to roll around. I would usually believe he was being dramatic but I'm not so sure. Delcan walked in after him and started laughing at Jordan's cries of agony.
I rolled my eyes before knocking Bennett's hand off and shooting Declan in his no-go zone. He gasped bending over holding his crotch as well. I smirked, blowing the fake smoke coming out the end away. I turned to Bennett still smirking, "See, I told you I wasn't a bad shot."
He shook his head seeming impressed, "I guess I finally started to rub off on you."
"Yeah that's what happened." I scoffed. He smiled before glancing down. I tilted my head when his ears turned red. "Your ears are red." I pointed out. He lifted his head and gave me a short nod. His cheeks were red as well, weird. He cleared his throat and rolled off of me.
"Sorry." He muttered looking away. My cheeks warmed as I nodded, not trusting my voice. I didn't notice how close he was until now. He was warm again..
