Chapter 12 : First Day

I sat on a stool eating my cereal at the counter, my back facing Bennett and Declan. It's been about a week since I yelled at them and Jordan drove away. We haven't talked much, more like not at all. The only time we 'talked'- if you can even count it -was when they sent a group text about how everyone was getting to and from college. I just asked Sang if she can pick me up and drop me off, to which she said yes too. So I sent them curt 'Sangs my ride'.

After Jordan drove off he didn't come back, turns out he's staying with his mom. The guys were talking about it while I finished my laundry, I didn't mean to listen in but I heard them say Jordan and my ears perked at it. I've texted him to no avail. Called him multiple times only to get his voice mail. I gave up after the fiftieth call. I figured if he wanted to talk then he can come to me, he's the one who ran out.

Today was my first day of college along with Sang, but she had already been accepted. She's supposed to be picking me up in ten minutes or so.

The doorbell rang, the sound of crows cawing filled the house. I rolled my eyes, getting up and putting my dish in the sink. Jordan set that up as to 'scare off vampires', but when you think about it wouldn't crows be vampires pets?

I opened the door only to be surprised.

"What took you so long?" Lynn pushed past me and set her bags down, huffing as she stood up stretching her back.

"Honey, you forgot one of my bags." Brenn walked in her the sun shining behind her, making her look like an angel.

Lynn rolled her eyes, blowing her hair out of her face, "Of course dear, how could I possibly forget?" Sarcasm rolled off her tongue like a second language.

"W-what are you guys doing here?" I stuttered, they didn't even call me before coming.

"Oh yes, we heard you replaced us." Brenn crossed her arms raising a slick eyebrow at me.

"Yeah, I need to meet this new best friend." Lynn copied Brenn's position.

"How do you know that?" I didn't think about what I said until it already came out.

"So you have replaced us!" Lynn pointed at me with her index finger. "Who is she? I thought we had something special! Was I-"

"We." Brenn interrupted.

"Were we not enough for you?" Lynn fake cried even going as far as to make her eyes watery.

I rolled my eyes and sat on the couch, "I did not replace you guys, I just have a new friend. Still how do you know, I didn't tell you- which I was planning to." I add.

"Oh Bennett told me about it." Brenn leaned back after her and Lynn took a seat.

"Snitch." I muttered under my breath.

"Why are you calling him a snitch? You usually call him cool." Lynn, who was sitting the farthest from me asked. I really need to work on muttering quieter.

"Something's happened." I waved it off not wanting to get into it.

"Yeah Declan told me something happened but he wouldn't talk about it, I even texted Jordan but got radio silence from him. Which is weird because he's always texted me back." Brenn set her hand on Lynn's knee.

"Yeah." I spoke softly. Even just hearing his name brings back the pounding in my head.

"Why don't you tell us about it?" Lynn leaned forward.

A honk was heard outside and I stood grabbing my back that I grabbed when I opened the door to Lynn and Brenn. I made eye contact with both Declan and Bennett before quickly looking away, I felt horrible for yelling at them when they were just trying to help. They are always trying to help.

"Look I don't want to talk about it right now, I need to get going but I'll talk to you when I get back." They stood up looking like they wanted to speak, but there must have been something on my face that showed them not to push me for answers right now.

Their eyes softened and they nodded, "Okay, bye." I waved and walked out the house.

When I closed the side door to a white G Wagon I let a breath out and buckled up. I can not handle them right now, they'll only dig and I do not want to be put in a deeper hole right now.

"What's up?" Sang asked turning around in the passenger seat to look at me.

"Sang, turn around please." North spoke turning the car onto the road.

"A lot." I sighed running my hand through my hair. "Hey North." I nodded at him, which he returned.

"You look good." Gabe commented from next to me.

"Thanks." I looked down at what I was wearing. I was wearing blue light washed shorts, a white shirt, a grey cardigan, and white sneakers. I had my hair in a messy bun and barely any makeup on besides mascara and chapstick, nothing big.

"You have under eye bags, have you not been sleeping well?" Sang turned around and looked at me.

"Sang, turn around please." North spoke again.

She turned around but still turned her head to look at me. "Are you okay?" I hadn't told her about what happened, when she'd ask how things were going with Jordan I would find a way to change the topic.

"A lot has happened." I sighed, rubbing my nose. "I don't want to get into it right now." I waved it off once again.

"Okay." She said slowly and turned around. The rest of the ride to Kings was no one spoke and it was quiet, Sang and Gabe, even North would glance at me but didn't say anything. When we parked I bid them a goodbye since I had to go to a certain building and walked up to the big grey building. It just shouted college and had this feeling to it. I walked in and talked to the lady behind a desk. She asked me a bunch of questions and told me classes would start in two days but I need to attend some lectures to give a little insight about the majors I could take.

I nodded and listened intently. She handed me a piece of paper with the different lectures I can go to and told me I could take a seat and decide which ones I wanted to go to. I sat down across from the glass window and started reading through all the different lectures, I didn't know which ones I wanted to go to. Of course there were some obvious ones I would be going to.

A piece of my hair fell in front of my face as I read through them. I blew at it but it would only go slightly to the side before returning to its original place. I looked up and blew one more time only for it to get caught in my throat.

He walked across the courtyard, pulling his bag up on his shoulder. His dirty blonde hair was a perfect mess blowing in the wind, he wore a blue V-neck T-shirt and black washed jeans, paired with his favorite sneakers. He looked a slight mess with his under eye bags but still he pulled it off, even if he looked like shit he would still look good.

He walked into a building not even noticing me, but how could he when I'm in a building and not out there. I whispered his name if only to hear myself say it.

"Jordan." I took a deep breath and rubbed at my temple. I need to take my mind off him somehow.

I finished finding which ones I was going to and talked to the lady again. She told me to just go to whichever one was starting soon.

The Arts was first so I went to the building and bumped into Gabe. Together we found the room number and took a seat waiting for the professor to speak. It took over an hour and by the end Gabe was excited and I was ready to fall asleep.

"I'm definitely majoring in the Arts." Gabe nodded looking at the notes he took.

"I'm not." I yawned, stretching.

"Whatever." He laughed. "I'll see you later." He waved walking away. I watched some of the girls look at him in awe and glare at me. I chuckled, well he's already got groupies after only being here for an hour.

I looked to see when the next lecture started and started to head that way. I had to walk to another building and find the right room.

"Woah sorry." Some dude bumped into me, dropping a couple books.

"It's okay." I helped pick up his books and looked up. He wore glasses and had beautiful green eyes, with brown hair. He looked familiar but I couldn't pinpoint him.

"I'm Kota." He stuck his hand out to shake mine. That's when it clicked.

"Naomi, your Sang's boyfriend right?" I shook his hand.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise, "Yeah, and you're her friend right?" I nodded. "It's nice to finally meet you, the guys keep talking about how you're pretty cool." He laughed.

"Well thank you, I didn't think they thought of me like that." Hmm something new.

"Oh yes." He nodded and started walking again, I walked with him. "After Sang came home and told us she got a tattoo, everyone was mad, especially North, Nathen, Sila's, and Mr. Blackbourne." He counted off his fingers. "But then she showed everyone the tattoo and told us what it meant, and we weren't mad at you anymore."

I chuckled, "Glad I'm not on your bad side anymore, I told her she didn't need to get a tattoo if she didn't want one." I felt I had to make that clear.

He nodded, "We know." And we walked into the Law lecture. I found it interesting and took down notes. The class didn't last very long and I was moving onto the last lecture of the day.

Physics.

The building was surprisingly filled with people, I didn't think that many people would like to take Physics. I tripped and landed on my knees and hands.

"I am so sorry! I should have been looking where I'm going." A hand stuck out and I grabbed it. The person helped pull me up.

"It's fine." I dusted my hands and knees off. I looked up and into beautiful hazel eyes.

"I feel bad, I'm sorry again." His voice was soft but had an edge to it.

"It's fine really." I waved it off. He wore khaki shorts and a white button up. He had platinum blonde hair and looked like the real life ken doll. Not that I would know what the Ken doll looked like, phish.

"At least let me walk you to where you're going." Nodded and let him walk me to the lecture which was only a small distance from where we stood. "I'm taking this lecture too, could I sit next to you?" He scratched his neck looking off to the side.

I crossed my arms looking at him up and down, "If you give me your name." I smiled.

"Oh I forgot sorry, I'm Tyler." He held his hand out with a smile.

"Naomi, nice to meet you Tyler." I shook his hand and together we took our seats.

The lecture took longer than the other two but I found it interesting. Tyler made comments on certain things making hold in laughter, and we played tic tac toe throughout the lecture. If I can sit next to Jordan and actually do the work for a whole hour then what's playing tic tac toe with Tyler and listening to the lecture any different? You just learn to multitask.

I gathered my stuff together and started to head back out.

"Wait! Naomi!" I stopped and waited for Tyler to catch up. He caught up and leaned over on his knees huffing. "Would you like to go to the Kings cafe with me?" He looked up and smiled at me nervously.

"I don't know-" My phone made a pinging noise and I checked it.

Sorry, our lecture is going longer than expected. I can ask Kota to take you home?

I weighed my options. I could go home and sit in my room ignoring Bennett and Declan, and wallow in my own self pity? Or I could go with Tyler, make a new friend, get Jordan off my mind, and get food while I'm at it? Now which one sounds more appealing?

"Yeah, I would love to." He smiled and together we started walking out the building and to the cafe. I texted Sang I would be at the cafe and that I'll wait for them to finish.

We ordered and he insisted on paying since he made me trip to which I had no problem with, since it made him lose the guilt he felt for making me trip. We took a seat by the corner and started talking.

"Let's play 21 questions." Tyler unbuttoned the button on his wrist and rolled the sleeves up to his elbows.

I nodded leaning back, "Okay you go first."

"What's your favorite color?" I snorted.

"That's the most original question I have ever heard." He rolled his eye messing with his sleeves. "But it's purple." He smiled.

"What's your's?"

"Pink." I smiled at that. "What is your favorite thing to do?"

"Eat." I said without hesitation. "What's your favorite thing to do?" I picked at a napkin.

"Hiking." I chuckled at that, he seemed like a hiking type of guy. "Favorite flower?"

I tsked, "I'm allergic, but I like sunflowers."

"That sucks." He pouted. I laughed. That's how it went for twenty minutes, our food came and we continued asking questions even if we passed 21.

"What's your biggest fear?" Tyler took a sip of his drink looking at me.

I thought about, I mean I really thought about it.

"You Don't have to answer if you don't want to." Tyler quickly said.

"Oh no I'm just thinking." He nodded and went back to eating, waiting for my answer. I sighed and popped a fry in my mouth, "It would have to be losing the people I cherish the most." Even thinking about losing my family or any of the guys made my heart ache. It still hurts every time I think about Jordan.

"Deep." Tyler nodded, laughing after a little bit. I soon joined him. His phone beeped and he picked it up, "I have to go but it was cool meeting you, could I get your number?" I nodded pushing my plate away. He handed me his phone and I put my number in and sent myself a text so I would have his.

As we were getting up my phone went pinged.

The lecture is over, where are you?

I told Sang to meet me at the cafe and walked out with Tyler.

"Later Naomi." He waved walking away.

"Bye." I waved back. Not even a minute later and I could see Sang was walking toward me. How I know that is because of the amount of guys standing around her.

"Naomi!" I looked away from Sang and watched Tyler run my way. He stopped in front of me and put his hands on his knees breathing hard.

"Yeah?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

He stood straight still slightly out of breath. "My friend and I are having a party tonight, would you like to come?" He said breathlessly.

I thought about it. I would be the distraction I wanted. I could take Lynn and Brenn. They could meet Sang. "Yeah I'll come." I nodded watching his smile widen.

"Okay I'll text you were to go." And he started walking away again. Just when He was out of ear shot Sang came and stood next to me.

"Who was that?" She watched his figure walk away.

"Tyler."

"What were you talking about?" She looked back at me.

I looked at her and smiled, "How would you feel about going to a party?"
