Chapter 18 - Wang Family Theater
EGO POV Yibo (I need to do this today to get ahead).
The thought that Zhan can get pregnant if we are careless is still a little strange. Because it's all still new to me that men can get pregnant. So I still have to get used to the idea a little bit. But somehow I am also happy that my Zhan is so special. Because thanks to his special body, we can start our own family someday.
When I realized that I was gay and accepted it, I got used to the idea that I would never have my own family. That was not even difficult. Because at that time I was only 15 years old. And the last thing a 15 year old gay who can't openly admit to his homosexuality thinks about is wanting to start a family someday.
And with the years, this thought had strengthened only more. But when I found out about Zhan and his special body a few days ago, I first had to realize that I do now have a chance to be a dad someday. Not through adoption, nor through surrogacy. But a child that is Zhan's and mine. A testimony of our love, carried by Zhan. How could I not be happy about that?
I only wish that my family problems would not always immediately overshadow everything good. After it had been quiet around my parents for some time, I had hoped that they would start to solve their problems with each other in private and not in public. But I had thought wrong.
Only two days after I found out about Zhan's secret and started to be happy that we could build a family someday, there were once again new reports about my parents in the media. A daily newspaper wrote on the front page, "Who wants, who wants, who hasn't yet? The Wang Family Theater Continues!" This was accompanied by a picture of two hand puppets with the faces of my parents.
One hand puppet, which was supposed to represent my mother, was holding a bottle of champagne and a document saying "divorce." The other, my dad, had a young woman in his arms and a mega long tongue that was lusting after the woman. There were two short articles about this.
The article about my mother said, "As Mrs. Wang let us know through her lawyer, there is finally a divorce date set by the court. Ms. Wang herself is looking forward to this date with joy and confidence. However, this divorce hearing in court will not only be about the divorce itself, but also about what should happen to the shared company. The company, which has fallen into bad disrepute in the meantime, was brewed up by both spouses and is still owned by both parties. But a court should now decide how to proceed with the company. Mrs. Wang would like to have her share paid out. But after the spouses' public war of the Roses, the company's reputation has been severely damaged, and as a result, the income has dropped sharply. Mr. Wang himself had hardly any income and thus will not be able to pay off his soon-to-be ex-wife. As we know from reliable sources, the investors have also withdrawn from the company and no longer support it financially. So where is Mr. Wang going to get the money from? Ms. Wang doesn't care at all, she wants her money and everything else doesn't interest her anymore, it was said via her lawyer. He also commented again on the rumors of his client's alcohol addiction. He said that Ms. Wang likes to drink a glass of champagne, but that does not make her an alcoholic. According to our information, it is not just a glass of champagne that Ms. Wang likes to indulge in. Rather, it should be between 1 and 3 bottles of champagne per day. Acquaintances of Mrs. Wang also say that it is only thanks to her alcohol addiction that the company is in such big trouble. They say that if Mrs. Wang were not addicted to alcohol, she would have been able to think clearly and solve her problems with her husband in private, not in public, and would have kept the company out of it altogether."
And the article about my father said: "From father-in-law to husband! Mr. Wang is already planning a dream wedding with his beautiful young ex-daughter-in-law. In a statement on the divorce hearing, Mr. Wang said, "I'm just happy that this will all be over soon and I can focus on my dream wedding with my beautiful fiancée." Tasteless, considering that his fiancée was the wife of his eldest son until a few months ago. And even more tasteless since it became known that the two had been having an affair for over a year while she was still married to her lover's eldest son. According to rumors, however, the father-in-law and daughter-in-law had been having an affair even before the marriage to the eldest son. In a brief statement by the young woman's parents, they expressed anger, disappointment and horror. The young woman's father said, "As if it wasn't bad enough that she cheated on her husband with her father-in-law, now she wants to marry him, who is even 9 years older than me. My wife and I cannot describe how disappointed and horrified we are. This is not how we raised her. For us, she is no longer our daughter." When asked if Mr. Wang could understand why his fiancée's parents were reacting this way, he just laughed and said that he didn't care, he and his fiancée didn't depend on them. When asked if he would invite his sons to his wedding, he said, "I will invite both of them. Whether they come or not is up to them. However, I assume that my youngest son will not come. And the same goes for my oldest son. But both will be invited, of course." What else is there to say?"
Under the two articles about my parents, there was another small article. "For a year now, the Wang couple has been in the media again and again, and mostly negatively. Many of our readers on our online portal showed annoyed, horrified, disappointed and even angry. They can't understand why the two of them have to talk about everything in public. But the readers are most concerned about the sons of the two. Because they have to witness how all the private problems of the family are being discussed in public. In addition, they were often dragged into the disputes. We can only hope for the sons that the divorce will finally bring peace to all parties."
They could have saved the third article. Writing that we are always dragged into our parents' disputes and then making an extra article to write about us sons. Where is the logic in that, please?
I have to say, I don't care about my father's marriage plans. Sure it's weird that my dad wants to marry my ex sister-in-law, who is the same age as my big brother, making her my stepmother. But I hardly have anything to do with my father anymore. And even if they really get married, I don't have to accept her as a stepmother.
That my mother still claims she is not an alcoholic was already clear to me. She did call now and then when she was drunk and admitted to having a problem with alcohol, but she only admitted it when she was drunk. As long as she can't admit it to herself when she's sober, she'll continue to claim that she's not an alcoholic.
Well, after this report appeared in the newspaper, it wasn't long before first my mother called to complain about my father and then my father called to complain about my mother. And so the joy I felt because of Zhan and his special body was once again pushed into the shadows.
And as if that wasn't bad enough, my father came to our company and walked around as if he had something to say. He criticized various things and kept telling Zhan and me, "Well, this definitely has to be done. And that should definitely be done as soon as possible." Like he was giving orders to his employees.
So first I had to remind him whose company this is and that he has nothing to say or order there. But that interested him very hardly. And to show me how little he cared, he promptly sat down on my office chair and wanted to send Zhan out to get him a coffee from a coffee shop.
I got so angry that I said to my father, "Get your ass out of my chair and don't you dare treat Zhan like a servant. We are equal business partners and if you want a coffee, go get it yourself!"
My father was really shocked by my reaction and needed a moment to realize what had just happened and how he should react. Finally, however, he stood up and sat down on one of the two free chairs in front of my desk. And then he said, "I'm here because of a collaboration with your company and mine. Since the marketing department in my company had to be closed down to cut costs, we now need a new partner to work with us."
Zhan shook his head and replied, "As you have seen, there are only two other employees besides Yibo and me. Our company is too small for a company like yours. We wouldn't be able to manage the work."
"Mn. Zhan is right. Our company is too small and so is the number of our employees. We are still building our company and would be completely overwhelmed with a partnership." I explained.
"So you're turning down a lucrative collaboration that would allow you to expand quickly?" Asked my father.
"I doubt very much that it would be really lucrative for us. Your company has been in the media negatively for months. In addition, you have hardly any income and therefore had to close many departments or sell. For our small company it would be a too big risk, if we would get involved in an exclusive contract with you. Because if you are insolvent, you can't pay us and we would have to file for bankruptcy." Replied Zhan.
"I have always paid my business partners. I have never been in debt." Said my father.
"Dad, the only reason you came to us is because you couldn't find anyone else to work with you. No one wants to take a risk by doing business with you." Said I.
"You are wrong Yibo. I came here because you are my son and I want to support you by working with you. It's no problem for me to find another marketing company."
"Well dad. Then please go to the other companies. Because we are not going to work with you. We reserve the right to choose who we work for. And we have decided against working with you. Besides, we have enough customers and we don't need your offer." I explained.
My father was getting quite angry about it, which I could see from his red face and the bulging throat veins. But he didn't say anything, just nodded and left our business rooms almost in a hurry.
Even if he were not my father, we would not have worked with him. Simply because we know that the company is in financial difficulties and a cooperation for us could mean the end of our company.
Zhan and I were relieved when my dad left. Still, we were tense and kind of waiting for him to come back and cause stress. Because my dad is not someone who takes no for an answer and not someone who can be sent away like that. But, he didn't come back. Nevertheless, we remained tense and were still tense this morning when we came to the office and went to our work.
It is quite frightening the effect my father has on us. But fortunately, it gets better and better with each passing encounter. Half a year ago, I would never have dared to refuse my father anything. I would have agreed to work with him out of pure fear of him. But today it's different. Today I can even reject him.
