Chapter Three
TW- None
Logan held Virgil until his tears subsided. Virgil realized they were still in public and sat up quickly wiping his face. "Thanks Logan. Sorry for all of this." Logan shook his head. "You don't need to apologize. You haven't done anything wrong." Virgil nodded slowly and looked down, avoiding Logan's gaze. They sat in a stony silence until they were both startled by a tapping on the window. They both turned and saw two boys standing outside, waving madly and giggling. Logan laughed lightly and shook his head. "Those are my friends. They're dumb but I love them anyway." Virgil laughed lightly. "Would it be alright with you if we met up with them outside? I would introduce you of course." Virgil wasn't very fond of meeting new people. He felt self conscious and awkward, but he had a sort of trust for Logan so he nodded his head and stood up, trying his best to look happy. Logan stood as well and the pair walked outside, Logan once again opening the door for Virgil.
"Hey Logan! Who's your friend?" The talked of the two ran over to the pair. He was wearing a white shirt with white skinny jeans and a red jacket. He already seemed rather eccentric, Virgil noted. "This is Virgil. I met him today while I was out shopping." The boy stepped forward and held out his hand. "Nice to meet you Virgil, I'm Roman!" Virgil shook his hand and smiled lightly. He seemed rather nice. The other half of the pair ran forward quickly toward Virgil, causing him to step back quickly. "Oh gosh, I'm sorry! I just got really excited. I love meeting new people! I'm Patton!" Patton was dressed in khakis and a blue shirt with a grey jacket on. Virgil laugher lightly. "Don't worry about it Patton, you just caught me off guard. It's nice to meet you both." Logan couldn't help but notice the slight smile on Virgil's face. He absolutely adored it. "Hey Lo, we're gonna head back to the apartment. It was super super nice meeting you Virgil! I hope to see you around soon!" Patton exclaimed. "Yeah, for sure," Virgil nodded. "I'll see you two at home, I'm going to stay out with Virgil for a bit." Virgil looked at Logan in shock. Nobody had taken this much of an interest in him in a long time, and it both excited and terrified Virgil. Roman and Patton nodded and waved with bright smiles on both of their faces before walking toward their shared living space.
"So, Virgil, would you care to continue conversing?" "Uh, yeah, sure. There's a park right around the corner if you want to go there..?" Logan nodded and began walking in the direction of the alleged park. Virgil had to jog slightly in order to keep up with Logan's long strides, but he didn't mind. "So Logan, you live with those two?" Logan laughed lightly. "Yes, I do. Quite a contrast from my personality, aren't they? We've been friends since high school and when we all moved out from our parents' houses, we decided that we wanted to live with each other rather than alone." "That's so cool. You guys are really close then?" Logan nodded fondly. "That we are. Our living arrangement is ideal in my opinion. How about you? Do you live alone?" Virgil looked downwards and fidgeted with the sleeves of his hoodie. Logan immediately took notice. "Hey, Virgil, you don't have to answer if you do not wish to." "No, no it's alright. It's just kind of a lengthy explanation." Logan smirked. "I've got time." Virgil nodded and took a deep breath. "Well, Michael and I first started dating senior year of high school. We were in love, so we moved in together and bought our own apartment when we graduated. That was great until he changed and became the man that you saw today. After we... split, he kicked me out. I had nowhere to go, so I'm currently living with my parents. It isn't the perfect living arrangement, but it's decent for now." Logan nodded, taking in the information before speaking. "I apologize Virgil. I feel quite insensitive for asking now." "Don't worry about it. I'm alright." Logan nodded and the pair continued walking in silence. "We should probably go home fairly soon, it is getting rather late." Virgil stopped in his tracks. "Virgil?" "I don't want to go home." Logan furrowed his brows in confusion. "He's probably going to be waiting there for me." "Michael?" Virgil nodded lightly. "Well, then I shall accompany you home." Virgil turned his head quickly toward Logan. "Oh no, I couldn't inconvenience you like that. You've already done so much for me. I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." Logan shook his head. "I said that I would do my best to protect you, so that is what I will be doing." Virgil smiled lightly at Logan. "Thank you so much." "It is no trouble at all. Lead the way."
Upon arriving at Virgil's home, the pair realized that Virgil's fear had been incredibly correct.
