Chapter 5~ Awkward Bookstore Moments..

Romance. Mystery. Comedy. News. Teen Fiction.

I was currently at Barnes and Noble walking around aimlessly looking at each section looking at the titles trying to find a book that would catch my interest. Running my fingers across the spine titles I frown noticing nothing seems to spike my interest.

"Uhhh do you need any help?" Said a gruff voice behind me. I quickly spin around to where the voice came from to see a boy my age in a Barnes and Noble uniform.

He has light brown hair in a quiff and light green eyes. His sun kissed skin makes his lips pop but for some reason no matter how good looking he is I don't feel anything. He's giving me a grin which would make any girl fall but I don't think much of it. Danny is way better looking....

"No I'm good thank you." I tell him politely giving him a smile. I turn back to the shelves looking at the titles again. Boring. Boring. Read it. Read it. Predictable. Boring. Re-

"Are you sure, because you've been walking around the whole store and still haven't found anything." He says taking a step closer to me. I lips go into a thin line. This dude can't be serious... "I mean it's no prob-"

"Sophie! There you are I've been looking all over for you!" I snap my head to the sound of the voice that saved me from an awkward moment. And my face breaks into a grin when I do.

Danny is walking towards me with a smile on his. He's wearing a light gray shirt that stops at his elbows with dark blue jeans and converse. The shirt clings to his chest and arms and I can see the muscle popping from the end of the shirt. His hair looks darker like he just took a shower and it's a bit messy which makes him look even hotter than the last time I saw him. To say he looked amazingly hot would've been an understatement. He looked sexy and he wasn't even trying.

"Danny!" I exclaim with joy. He grins at my greeting before he opens his arms to hug me and I cant wait as I speed walk to meet him half way.

Throwing my arms around his neck he secures my waist with his arms before lifting me in the air. I laugh enjoying the twirling before I feel him come to a stop and set me down slowly. I don't pull away completely, letting my arms travel from his neck, to his shoulders, to his stomach. Goosebumps rise in my skin as I feel his muscles tighten when I hands glide down a little more. I can feel his six pack through the thin material of the shirt and I see his eyes darken. I feel tiny sparks everywhere in my body, my mind is a bit hazy and my heart rate is faster since I saw him. It's like I'm high when he's around me. Not that I mind.

"Hey." I say softly looking up at him. His eyes are wide with happiness and the grin on his face is still there.

"Hey beautiful." He says just as softly with a smile tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. He just called me beautiful.....again.

We don't look away from each other but I feel my cheeks get warmer as the time passes on. It's like we're in our own little world.

Then we hear a cough behind us.

We snap our heads to see the boy that was talking to me five minutes ago but this time he has a frown on his face and jealousy is plain in his eyes. Danny's muscles tighten and I can feel the glare he's giving the poor guy even though I'm not looking at him. I notice the name tag on his shirt and realize his name is Nick. But it's awkward to say the least....

"If you guys are done." He says rudely. "I was just asking this pretty lady if she needed help." He says looking at me with a predatory look.

I shift uncomfortable under his gaze and suddenly Danny's arm comes around my shoulders pushing me into him more. As if reassuring me he's there and he's trying to shield me. I flush not meeting Nick's eyes.

"I think she's good. We're leaving now anyways." Danny replies shortly with a hard voice and I'm surprised to hear it so commanding. It sounded so..... Hot.

I'm suddenly being pulled and guided by Danny to the front door of the store with his hand in mine without waiting to hear the reply of Nick. Danny is still tense and I suddenly squeeze his hand in reassurance and make slow circles with my thumb as we walk.

Danny visibly relaxes under my touch and I can see the small smile on his face. Walking out of the store we're greeted by a soft breeze and sunshine making me smile. We walk down the street and I'm not sure where we're headed but I don't ask.

"Thank you for saving me back there." I thank him looking at the concrete my shoes are stepping on.

"He was just being a duchebag. I hate guys like that. You're not a piece of meat." He grumbles. "You don't have to thank me. I'll always be there for you. When ever you need me. I'll always save my princess." He says making me look up at him but he's already looking at me and his eyes show honesty while the small smile on his face reassures me he's not lying. It's like he thinks it's normal to say that to someone. With such honesty and love.

I don't notice we've stopped. I don't notice the people passing us. I don't notice the old couple pointing to us and smiling. I don't notice anything except for him.

No one. No one has ever said that to me. And I could be wrong but I've never heard of another couple saying that to one of their partners. Sure in books it happens. But in real life?

I don't know what to say to him and my mouth is opening and closing with no sound coming out. It's like I'm a fish out of water. He seems to notice how bewildered I am by his words that he simply grins cheekily and bends down to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to say." I confess still unable to wrap my brain around everything. He chuckles.

"You don't have to say anything." He tells me. "Having you breathless from my words is good enough for me." He says giving me a half smirk and I swear my heart raced a little faster.

"Come on. Let's go to the park." He says gently tugging me with his hand. I only nod and follow still in a daze.

We only walk a few steps towards the park before a couple sitting on the bench near the ice cream shop stand up and walk in front of us.

Danny and I look at each other briefly with confused glances and the old couple sees this and they begin to smile.

"You remind me of us so much. I remember when he would take me out and take my breath away with simple words and gestures." The old lady said smiling making more wrinkles on her face. But she seemed to glow remembering the old days with her husband.

"But I really took your breath away in the bedroom didn't i?" Said the old man cheekily winking at his wife. I'm shocked at first at his words more so because Danny is standing right next to me but he finds it funny and he begins to laugh.

It isn't loud or obnoxious like most laughs are. His is kind of quiet but still let's you know he finds it funny. It's now of my favorite sounds and it momentarily makes me forget about the old couple but when I hear a smack I turn to see the old man grinning and the old lady scowling at him.

"Yes you did." She agrees making me feel awkward about the situation. It's not everyday you're with a boy you like talking to an old couple about sex. "I also lost my breath giving birth to six of your children!" She says giving him the stink eye. He only grins and quickly kisses her cheek before tugging her along. She seems mad before quickly giving him a small nudge.

"I still wouldn't take anything back though." She says quietly passing us and giving me a wink nodding her towards Danny.

My cheeks flush at the almost subtle gesture but Danny seems to have seen her because he grins looking at me.

"Uhhhmmm let's keep walking." I say looking anywhere else but him not wanting to make the situation more awkward.

"Don't worry." He assures squeezing my hand as we begin walking once again toward the park. "I only want three. I want two boys and a girl. If that's ok with you. Since you'll be carrying them and all."

I choke on my own spit at his words making me cough. Coughing into my arm I rip the other from his grasp to pat my chest. Did he just say that?!?!

"What?!" I yell blushing. My heart is racing but he seems to be unfazed as amusement dances in his eyes.

"Come on. We'll have plenty of time to talk about that later. When you're ready of course." He says grabbing my arm guiding me to the park.

I'm still flustered by everything's that happened that I let him guide me as my mind wanders.

It's been one of the most embarrassing days of my life.

But it's also been one of the best.

And I wouldn't change it for a thing.
